Experience a real Hawaiian luau while staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort in Kauai City. This family oriented luxury resort is designed in true Hawaiian architecture with furnishings to match inside. Activities for the children, via Creatubbles, are available that encourage creativity in young minds. Each room has a balcony, or lanai, with ample natural light and high-end furnishings. Enjoy golfing at the resort that looks out over the ocean, or pamper yourself with a day at Anara Spa, which has won several awards for its service and atmosphere. The staff is dedicated to providing each guest with grand Hawaiian hospitality and ensures prompt attention to guest needs.

Dining
There are nearly a dozen restaurants, bars, and snack venues at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, including an espresso bar where caffeine junkies can jump-start the day at 5:30 a.m. Stevenson's Library channels the ambiance of a Victorian gentleman's club (ladies welcome), a cozy spot for late-night Cognac or Port. Reserve in advance to dine at Dondero's, the only AAA Four Diamond restaurant on Kauai.
Rooms
Decor at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is "Classic Hawaiian" with warm hues and rich woods. There are more than 600 rooms, each with lanai or balcony, but the resort doesn't feel crowded thanks to meandering paths and waterways that create a multitude of secluded, peaceful areas.
Property features
It is hard to peg the resort as ideal for couples or families, lovers or adventurers, golfers or kayakers, because it is for all of the above. Romantics find hidden nooks among the gardens and lagoons and in the serene spa. Tranquil lagoons beckon to kayakers while golfers can take the challenge posed by Poipu Bay Golf Course, where distractions include whales breaching just offshore. Parents have bonding time with children during cultural and family activities, and adult time while kids play and learn in highly regarded Camp Hyatt. A twice-weekly luau and Polynesian revue is for everyone.
Highlights

Eight restaurants, including Tidepools and Dondero's, and four bars are housed on the resort property. Captain's Bar is elevated so that you can view activities taking place in the lagoon area. On-site culinary options include true Hawaiian cuisine, American classics and Italian fare. Seaview Terrace has a kid's menu that was created by kids. Kauai City itself offers plenty of activities for travelers, such as visiting the Sugar Plantation or going to Napali Coast. The historic Kilauea Lighthouse is in close proximity to the resort as well. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa offers guests access to a 24-hour fitness center with fitness classes available at set times.

Honeymoon

Not sure if it was just because we were in Hawaii, but this hotel was amazing. The pool was wonderful and we were able to reserve a cabana by the beach to relax. On the pricey side, but it was our honeymoon so it was worth the extra expense. A bit isolated, but if you have a car it shouldn't be a problem.

Great hotel with amazing view. The staff was very friendly, professional, and attentive. Hotel restaurants and room service were excellent. Spa services were OK, not bad, but for the price I was expecting more however, staff was excellent.

Trip to Paradise

Simply the best hotel we've ever stayed at. Have been here four times now at it never disappoints! Great staff who aim to please and we have seen many of them on each of our trips so they know how to keep employees. Great food, location and the grounds are immaculate! Can't say enough good about the G Hyatt!

Fading Beauty

Since our first stay six years ago, this ideally situated, sprawling resort has sadly lost some luster. The beach is still fantastic (especially if you like 6 - 8 foot waves), the grounds lush, but the service level has fallen off dramatically. While less expensive than a Four Seasons or St. Regis, it's not THAT much less, and the sub-standard attention to detail and just plain attention from a healthy percentage of the staff, coupled with a disquieting sense of a once great property slowly spiraling downward, left us wanting. Too bad since we were so impressed the first time around. I'd still recommend, just not too emphatically.

Hawaii is a pricey place, but leaving the resort and searching out local places to dine is a great way to save a fortune. a few shopping centers are close by. worst case you have a great dinner at the resort. they are equal to NYC prices.

Lovely, all the extras

We really enjoyed our stay and this place really has it all. Our room was kindly upgraded to a nicer view on the top level for no extra cost, just because I asked nicely and it was available. My only deductions were because: - There is no real swimming beach - the water is too rough and there are lava rocks everywhere. Surfers everywhere too. - LOTS of kids, so if you're really intolerant of hearing them, having them run around and possibly dump sand on you (yep, I was a lucky one, lol), this resort is not for you. - Kind of a long walk to the often near-full parking lot. - The bar drinks were way overpriced ($10-15) and not that great, aka, barely an ounce of alcohol and tons of sugar.

Do make sure you walk off to the far left edge of the resort, along the ocean. There is a hiking path that goes up to a cliff with a gorgeous view of the coastline.

Great location, bad room

The room we received on our honeymoon was OK at best. First off, we were on our honeymoon so we requested King bed. They didn't have it so they gave us 2 queen beds. OK, that's not too bad I guess. Then they put us into a room that was at the far end of the hotel. Had to make a long journey to get to our room from the main lobby. Again, I guess that can happen. Next, hotel staff was doing construction work at 8AM. Not very relaxing when you are trying to catch some Zzzzs on vacation. Room wasn't very clean when we checked in. Lamp had orange stains on it. Garden view basically gave me a view of tennis court and tool shed. It's overall a decent enough room but I highly encourage getting ocean view room after the experience I've had.

Excellent anniversary celebration

My husband and I decided to getaway for our 6th anniversary. The Grand Huatt Kauai exceeded our expectations. From the amazing pool and salt water lagoon, to the SUPER friendly and courteous staff... We were so pleased! Everything was above and beyond the service I've received at other hotels of the same caliber. This is a great hotel, wether you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family vacation! 5 star top notch.

Wonderful getaway

The Hyatt in Poipu was wonderful. It has great views and the lagoon is terrific. There is no swimmable beach but it doesn't seem too bad. There are lots of places to see on the island so the lack of a beach does not seem too bad. Room service food is not great but the restaurants are very good. Overall it was a great experience.
