Stunning property, a wonderful experienc

I just returned from a five night stay at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. It is the most stunning property I have ever stayed at! The photos do not even do it justice, When you walk into the lobby and look out over the terrace, the view of the pools, the palm trees, the flowers and ocean is breathtaking. I chose this location because it was away from the other hotels (which may be a negative to some people). It is peaceful, serene, and tranquil, exactly what I needed. There is a gorgeous beach just a walk down the property, and i watched the sunrise each day at this spot. There are also chairs in this area to escape the pool atmosphere if you'd like. The concierge and valets were very helpful with all of my questions about activities. You can book most activities on the island directly through the hotel. Keep in mind these are "a la carte" as far as pricing, and none are free. This is the case no matter where you stay on Maui, though, so go for the best! The rooms were beautiful, clean, modern and spacious. Service was impeccable from the restaurants to the cleaning staff. There are several restaurants on the property. You cannot expect to stay at a Ritz Carlton and have cheap food. In the hotel, the breakfast was excellent, and the bar had delicious food at a lower price than the other choices. The cocktails were the best I had on Maui. Again, Maui is expensive in general so go for the best! There are several other choices within walking or free shuttle distance from the hotel. We especially enjoyed Sansei and Pineapple Grill. There is also a general store type place with a deli for breakfast and lunch. Make sure you take the shuttle to Kapalua Bay, as the snorkeling is wonderful. I would recommend renting a car, as there is no free shuttle service to Kanaapali or Lahaina, and taxis are expensive. I went through Hertz directly rather than booking through the hotel and got a much better rate. We were able to have the car delivered to and dropped off at the Ritz easily.

Relaxing Getaway

The pool was beautiful. It overlooked the ocean. The hotel had beach access. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is a bit far from restaurants and nightlife. Parking is free. We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely come again.

Fabulous girls getaway

Fabulous hotel, dining, service and pool. Beach is a short hike, but well worth it. Close enough to Lahaina to get what you want but far enough from all the other resorts to feel secluded. My friend and I stayed eight days and are already planning a trip for next year. Lovely!!!

Couldn't turn down the killer deal and was not dissapointed. Very nice hotel & property, excellent service from staff. Only did an overnighter, should have stayed longer, didn't have a chance to really take advantage of the facilities.

Amazing!

Best place on Maui! Staff was helpful and pleasant. My friend lost his sunglasses and of course we didn't expect to find them. We went to the front desk and they called security to see if anyone turned them in. Sure enough, someone turned them in and the security officer brought them to us! Other guests were pleasant and as big as the place is it sometimes felt as though we were the only people there. The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all. They turn down your bed in the evenings and do a wonderful job of cleaning the rooms everyday! I am not able to think of 1 negative aspect to this hotel except that you do have to walk quiet a bit from parking lot to room and room to beach. However, we enjoyed the walks as we normally walk everyday at home in the evenings for exercise.

Wonderful relaxing stay

Great girls getaway. Beautiful grounds. Definitely need a rental car to get off the resort- explore Haleakala, drive to Hana, luau in Lahaina, shop on Wailea. Try some excursions- snorkeling on Molokini, helicopter ride. The beach is about a 5-10 mins walk down a path but there is a golf shuttle to take you there and back. Room was clean and comfortable, turn down service comes early around 6. The pool and beach service end at 5, but the pool and hot tubs are open 24 hrs. The pool service is not like that of the Four Seasons (Evian face water spritz, sunglasses being cleaned, complimentary fruit and smoothie etc) which is why I didn't give all 5 stars, but it was good. I ate at the sushi restaurant which was good with attentive service, but overpriced ie $20 for a roll. I also ate at the beachside restaurant which was good with fast efficient service- the Kahlua mud pie was yummy. There are beach lounge chairs on two separate grassy areas overlooking the beach- one is sunny the other has shade. You can't take lounges onto the beach itself. The resort fee is $30 a day and includes wifi. I liked the gym facilities, but some of the equipment is dated. I did a full day at Montage Spa at Kapulua Bay which was fabulous and is a must do- the gym is brand new, there's an outdoor infinity edge pool, hot tub, poolside service, steam room, sauna. I didn't use the spa at the Ritz and can't comment on it. You can't see the sunset well from the resort but you can see the sunrise over the West Maui mountains. There is a shuttle which will take you around Kapalua.

There are several places to eat off resort which are excellent- Lahaina Grill, Roys, Mama's Fish House, Merriman's- make reservations before your trip for the popular times around sunset. Good breakfast places- Gazebo (long line but moves quickly), Slappy Cakes- yummy! The resort is about 15 mins from Whalers village at Kaanapali Beach for shopping and other restaurant options. Enjoy your vacation and embrace the Aloha spirit
