Excellent
This resort was the nicest place I've ever stayed at before! The service was excellent and the rooms were extremely beautiful and very very clean. We enjoyed the pool and the beach area at this resort. My husband and I think it is the nicest hotel on Maui!

The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua
We stayed in a Garden View Residential Suite - could actually see the ocean from one of our 2 lanais and the view of the mountains and trees was beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed the pool and beach of the hotel. Only downside was the kids playing in all levels of the pool. It would be nice if they had an adult only section for people travelling without kids.

Since we had a suite, we enjoyed some meals and beverages by using the kitchenette - saved on the cost of these items overall for a week so we could also enjoy some nicer meals.

5 Star Hotel But Pack a Lunch!
The hotel was very clean, and the staff was excellent. We were greeted with leis, and a much needed comfy bed after our long flight. The pool is set up with cabanas (but no swim up bar), and it's very clean. There were a lot of kids, which for me, was sometimes entertaining and other times too noisy early in the morning. Our ocean view was really only viewable if you stood up to the balcony door because it was really a POOL VIEW, as are half the rooms there. I guess if you can see it partly from your room, you technically have a ocean view. The food is VERY EXPENSIVE. Ouch.

BIGGEST ADVICE for anyone who's NOT RICH: pack a lunch! Or find some good places to eat off the property. You get a great hotel for the price, but with it comes the expectation that it's ok to pay a day's salary for a meal. We mistakenly relied on the hotel food the first day we got there, and after paying that bill for a burger and fries, and a little sushi, we swore never to do that again. NEXT, RENT A CAR. You'll need it to get to cheaper (more reasonable) offsite restaurants and events. There's a Melting Pot restaurant and an Outback Steakhouse not too far from the hotel area. You'll pass it on your way to the hotel. In my opinion, if you're spending that much for a meal, go to The Melting Pot, it's much more worth it. If you're rich, no worries. The food's pretty good, and you'll never have to leave the resort. It's gorgeous, and there are several places to eat without ever getting into a car. If you're just spoiling yourself for a once-in-a-lifetime event but don't really want to spend $500-800/day, plan on getting out a little. This resort is north of the main string of resorts, so you'll definitely be driving anywhere you go to shop or see the sights. The resort doesn't even offer a Luau. My advice, if money's an issue, spend it on fun things to do and go for a cheaper hotel so you've got more money for the things to do. Most events are over a hundred/ea for ANYTHING including horseback riding, snorkling, surfing, zipline, etc. What goes with cheaper hotels (I said cheaper, not CHEAP)? Cheaper, good food. Think about it and best of luck! The much acclaimed "Gazebo" restaurant (look it up, people wait an hour in line for breakfast - we did, too) is not far from this hotel and in a very blue collar resort area that's on the same waterfront. Try some cool cheaper things like surfer-watching on the popular Front Street, or a day trip on the Road to Hana, and Happy Travels!

Great vacation
Overall the hotel was great. The only issues we had was that it was noisy when people walked in the hallways- you could hear everything inside your room. Also if you are going surfing, you have to go to nearby towns, the beach in front of the hotel will not have any good waves.

RITZ CARLTON MAUI? MAYBE YOU CAN AFFORD
Everything you expect and more! Top notch service and facilities. Great dining opportunities on site and close by. Reasonable golf prices and a great staff. The only negative was the somewhat high prices for drinks at the bars. High enough that you didn't order a second!

The Honolua General Store is a block away. It is the old original "Company Store" from the old plantation. They serve only breakfast and lunch but it taste great and is very reasonable. They also carry lots of gifts as well as resort and Maui specific items. Great coffee bar and a much better price on alcohol than the hotel. Dining is only outside and is self serve.

The Ritz
All of staff was amazing. Evey resturant associated with the Ritz had magnificant food. Our son is physically handicapped. When he was worn out they provided a wheelchair in a matter of minutes. I can't say enough about the facility and staff. Best accommodations and staff hands down from any other trips.

I want to live here!
The service, the grounds, even the smell... everything was practically perfect. I'm picky, and I could only see a few very minor flaws in the facilities or guest room. The room service was a bit disappointing, but overall the food was also excellent.

The breakfast buffet at "The Terrace" is exceptional. It isn't cheap, but includes made to order eggs benedict and pancakes (including banana-macadamia pancakes) and high quality items like smoked salmon in addition to the usual egg dishes, potatoes, fresh fruit, etc.

Ritz-Carlton Maui
We really enjoyed our stay at the Ritz-Carlton on Maui. It is a beautiful, luxurious hotel in a fantastic location. I don't feel it would be suitable for young families with children about 8-teens because it does not have the water slides, amusement/game rooms, inexpensive/reasonable snack bars that would be good for that age group.

"The best for a honeymoon"
They have a excellent activity center, where you can set up appointment for everything, even if you want to go to a Luau they do it for you and is not just one place, they give you all the options that are in the island. Of course, that you have to pay for everything and is not cheap but, is good to have the option if you have the money ; ) The only but experience is that the alarm clock starts to ring at 6 am without previous set up so always check that before go to sleep ; )

Gorgeous - truly paradise!
We had a beautiful room with an excellent view of the Kapalua Bay. We loved the hotel and the restaurants (although they were very pricey). Everyday was truly a wonderful experience. The hotel combined beauty with comfort - everything that you would expect a trip to Maui to be. It was a perfect experience!!! My only negative experience was that the hotel did not back-up the excursions that they offered with outside vendors. We had taken 3 outside excursions and 2 didn't meet up to our expectations and the hotel would not reimburse us our money or even try to get some of our money back from the vendors. These vendors would advertise certain things on their pamphlets and then wouldn't live up to their advertisements - the hotel's desk would apologize, but not do anything about it.
