Perfect Honeymoon

Everyone at the hotel was helpful and friendly...the locals too for that matter. Hawaii is the perfect vacation spot. You're still in the states and it's simply paradise. Snorkel trips, golf, days by the pool and at the beach...and forget anything bad you've heard about the road to Hana - it's a must.

The best vacation I've ever experienced!

We intended to find a quiet, "untouristy" place to just relax--we found EXACTLY what we were looking for! The beach was practically all our own, with only 10 other people there at any given time. Even though the hotel was at capacity, there was plenty of room for us at the 3-level pool and we never felt cramped or on top of other people staying there. There was plenty to do if one would so choose; and the concierge(s) were incredibly professional and extremely helpful. Room service kept the room absolutely spotless, they cleaned before noon and then came around every evening to see if we needed anything before morning. The entire hotel was spotless, with people caring for the hallways, stairwells and all the grounds daily. The two restaurants in the hotel (Terrace and Kai) were amazing as well. I am so thankful I chose this place; after drive the entire western half of the island I can say without reserve that there is not a better hotel or location for those wanting to get away and relax. I had a wonderful time.

DO NOT EAT AT THE MAUI BREWING COMPANY-absolutely horrible on every level. I think its in Kahana--a place just south of Kapalua where the Ritz is located. If you don't buy an all-inclusive package, you will save yourself about 300 per day per couple by going to the grocery store which is located just 5 minutes south of the hotel. They make excellent sushi daily and have everything you need to eat well on your trip if you choose to not eat at the hotel.

Beautiful vacation

We had a ocean view room on the club level and were very pleased with the location, view and wonderful club facility. We used the spa twice and the pool and exercise facilities several times -- all were topflight. Hotel service staff were personable and very accommodating. My husband was particularly happy about the pool service and availability of towels without constraints. We also did three hikes, 3, 5 and 7 miles each, and just loved the beauty of the location. With regular winds, sometimes strong, it never felt too hot, either. We will return!

A trip to remember

I surprised my wife with this trip for our tenth anniversary. Planned and booked everything without her knowing. Overall we really loved the trip and the hotel! Its location was beautiful with plenty of photo ops. Very quiet and secluded. Just far enough away from the major tourist areas but close enough that it only took minutes to get where you wanted. The down side was the service. We ate breakfast at the Terrace Restaurant daily as it had a wonderful buffet. The service was not up to my expectations. Constantly having to ask for drink refills and then having to get up to go ask someone to please refill your drink. Condiments were the same way. The food was wonderful, but as I always say I can wait for food as long as my drink stays full. One Star of the week was Amy at the Terrace Restaurant. We had her as a waitress the first day. She was amazing. Offering lots of extras that were available, always kept the drinks full, and that smile... you can really tell she loves what she does. She offered the service that I expected from the Ritz and more. Pool side service was no better. My wife and I lounged by the pool for hours each day only to be disapointed by the service. There is nothing better than relaxing by the pool sipping on tropical drinks... better plan on getting your own drinks or settling for 1 every hour or so. The only other down side was the 1 of the excursions we planned. [...]We had a blast though! I definately recomend the sunset cruise... but where a hat and take sunscreen!! Like I said overall the trip was wonderful and beautiful. We loved it and would go back again. I was just expecting too much out of Ritz-Carelton service I guess.

Stunning property, a wonderful experienc

I just returned from a five night stay at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. It is the most stunning property I have ever stayed at! The photos do not even do it justice, When you walk into the lobby and look out over the terrace, the view of the pools, the palm trees, the flowers and ocean is breathtaking. I chose this location because it was away from the other hotels (which may be a negative to some people). It is peaceful, serene, and tranquil, exactly what I needed. There is a gorgeous beach just a walk down the property, and i watched the sunrise each day at this spot. There are also chairs in this area to escape the pool atmosphere if you'd like. The concierge and valets were very helpful with all of my questions about activities. You can book most activities on the island directly through the hotel. Keep in mind these are "a la carte" as far as pricing, and none are free. This is the case no matter where you stay on Maui, though, so go for the best! The rooms were beautiful, clean, modern and spacious. Service was impeccable from the restaurants to the cleaning staff. There are several restaurants on the property. You cannot expect to stay at a Ritz Carlton and have cheap food. In the hotel, the breakfast was excellent, and the bar had delicious food at a lower price than the other choices. The cocktails were the best I had on Maui. Again, Maui is expensive in general so go for the best! There are several other choices within walking or free shuttle distance from the hotel. We especially enjoyed Sansei and Pineapple Grill. There is also a general store type place with a deli for breakfast and lunch. Make sure you take the shuttle to Kapalua Bay, as the snorkeling is wonderful. I would recommend renting a car, as there is no free shuttle service to Kanaapali or Lahaina, and taxis are expensive. I went through Hertz directly rather than booking through the hotel and got a much better rate. We were able to have the car delivered to and dropped off at the Ritz easily.

Incredible vacation

very friendly and helpful staff. Incredible room, beautiful views, although it was not "ocean" view as described. Ocean view only when you are on the lanai. Excellent room amenities (2 LCD tvs, DVD players, etc) great for having kid. Excellent room compared to previous trip but beach location was too far and did not have have lounge chair available on the beach. Basically, only able to use your towels on the beach.

Should have a rental car since hotel is situated in the most northern part of West Maui... but not too far from the main attractions.
