Fantastic Anniversary

The hotel was amazing. From the views to the employees, to the beach...including the small things like the fruit filled water everywhere. My husband lost his wedding ring in the water and the concierge gave us the name of someone who searches for things in the water. Four days later our ring was returned to us. What a 10th anniversary gift! The only negatives are: 1) The hotel is on the end of civilization and that makes it a long drive to find anything to do or places to eat. 2) Everything at the hotel was too expensive for us and the restaurants/activities they recommended were too expensive. We had to go into town and ask the locals where to go in order to stay on budget. We'd return in a heartbeat though.

Entertainment tip: Not Applicable

Stop at the grocery store in Napali and get breakfast foods, so you have more money to eat out later. Go to Lahaina and watch sunset on the boardwalk every night. The Lahaina Grille was very expensive, but worth going and sharing a salad and dinner. The Lahina Pizza Co. and Kimos were very good. Look for craft fairs on the side of highways to find authentic Hawaian made goods. It is worth going to the Iao Valley. If you go to Hana yourself, leave very early with good instructions and book a hotel in Hana for that night. I would recommend planning to spend much of your time at the hotel pools/beach/beachhouse, unless you want to drive at least 30 miles away. We should have planned better and spent more time relaxing.

Maui Honeymoon

We chose the Ritz because we knew that as far as comfort went, few could compete. We were also very happy withe the deal we found on Orbitz.  This was our first time in Maui and we didn't know the geography of the island very well. We didn't have time to do very much research either since we were busy planning our wedding. We love the service and amenities offered by the Ritz, but as we do not golf, we had to drive 15 or 20 minutes to do anything besides hang out at the pool or beach.  The hotel itself is great, and the rooms offer top notch comfort. It's not our usual cup of tea - we typically gravitate towards something more bohemian, but as we were on our honeymoon, we wanted to try something a little different.

While in Maui, check out Mama's Fish house. It's about an hour drive from the Ritz, but it will be the best meal you have on your vacation. Also factor this meal into your budget as it will likely reach about $100 per person if you order a drink o two.

Ritz Carlton like a Ritz Cracker

The hotel did not meet our expectations as a luxury type resort. For having a mandatory resort fee, we expected that there would be free or a small fee for water sports equipment, instead the hotel did not offer these amenities. Additionally, the hotel failed to give us "lei's" upon arrival. The concierge was very helpful with planning activities but they were always looking to "sell us" the highest costing activity. I guess that's how all hotels would be like. Overall, we expected a lot more from the Ritz Carlton as a luxury hotel instead it would have been better to just stay at a full service Marriott.

Wonderful hotel

We just returned from a 4 day stay at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua, Maui. We were upgraded to an ocean view room which was wonderful. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the view amazing. Yes, Kapalua is windier than South Maui but it is also greener and in general more beautiful. We loved every minute of it.

The Best Spot In Maui - Kapula Ritz

Hands down the best vacation spot I've been too. We went for our honeymoon and neither of us had ever been there before, just picked the Ritz in Kapula b/c it was comparable in price to all the other hotels out there and figured we couldn't go wrong. And by far it was the best choice, the staff was great, so friendly and welcoming. I'm only staying there if I come back!

Perfect getaway

Beautiful property. Even though I did not have time to play golf, the course looked perfect. Room location was also good, had a lovely view of the pools as well as a partial ocean view. Nicely furnished with dark hardwood floors and furniture. A tropical feel, perfect for the location. Worked well. The smartest thing I saw was the Adults only pool, thank you. Every Friday and Saturday nights they have a live band on the main lounge. Service was great and everyone was nice. Eager to serve you.
