Relaxed Coconut Coast condo resort for easy, convenient vacationing
An oceanfront resort with 160 one-bedroom condominiums, Plantation Hale Suites makes vacation living easy thanks to spacious condominiums fully equipped with everything guests need, including a fine location overlooking Waipouli Beach. Moderately priced and family friendly, Plantation Hale Suites has three swimming pools as well as shuffleboard and croquet. After a day exploring, family and friends can gather around one of the resort grills and cook up a feast while watching the sun set in fiery splendor over the Pacific Ocean.
Highlights
  • Easy on the budget
  • Three swimming pools, two whirlpools
  • Complimentary Internet access
  • Roomy one-bedroom vacation homes
Location
Plantation Hale Suites sits on the Royal Coconut Coast, near where the Wailua River spills into the Pacific Ocean. From this central location it is easy to get to adventures, from hiking Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park in the west to kayaking along one of the most famous coasts in the country, the Na Pali Coast at the north end of Kauai. The Coconut Coast is the most populated area of Kauai, but there are plenty of quiet spaces in and around the vacation condominiums at Plantation Hale Suites.
Rooms
Each of the one-bedroom condos at Plantation Hale Suites has both air conditioning and ceiling fans, a full kitchen, two cable TVs, private lanai and a sofa bed in the living room for added sleeping space. Condominiums are housed in 10 two-story buildings with "scenic" and garden views.
Features
The low-rise buildings at Plantation Hale Suites are set beneath the slender coconut palms that give this coastal area its name. While the beach here, about 150 yards away, is not for swimming, Lydgate Beach Park, less than a mile away, is. Plantation Hale Suites is utterly relaxed – there is no need to get dressed up unless you want to. There is no restaurant on the property, but guests who want to eat out have a huge selection of eclectic eateries in this area to choose from, including those among the 60-plus shops and restaurants of Coconut Marketplace across the street.

LOCATION, PRICE, CONVENIENCE, AND COMFORT

NOT ONLY IS IT 1/4 MILE TO BEACH, THERE IS NOTHING BETWEEN P.HALE AND OCEAN BUT A SCENIC WALK. CONDOS ARE COMFORTABLE, A HOMEY FEELING, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. NICELY LANDSCAPED WITH FRIENDLY STAFF. GREAT PROMOS ON AIR, CAR AND GAS. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE NEW UNITS AT YEAR'S END--WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK. KITCHENS ARE COMPLETE WITH EVERYTHING.

Best restaurant on Kauai is THE BULL SHED just 1/2 miles away with ocean view. Salad bar with the best prime rib and steaks on the island. Great prices to match the tasty cuisine. Large portions served. A definate repeat customer for twenty years.

Great location, great value

My boyfriend and I spent 5 nights at this hotel in February 2012 and have absolutely no complaints. The room was clean, quiet and spacious, and had a great deck area. We loved being able to cook in the fully functional kitchen and relax after a day of adventures around the island. There are grocery stores a 3 minute drive away and the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils/supplies we needed. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops near the hotel for when we wanted to eat out and do some shopping. This hotel is not technically beach-front, but there is a beautiful beach a few minutes walk away down a path, and we liked to watch the sunrise in the morning. There are many beaches to swim or snorkel at just a few minutes drive from the hotel, which is centrally located on the island so we were easily able to go everywhere we wanted. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we had absolutely no problems checking in and out even though our plane came in later than planned, and we left past the formal check-out time (they let us stay an extra hour with no charge.) The hotel has lots of free parking and there was never an issue getting a spot next to our building. We also really liked to relax in the hot tub at night, and the pools and hot tubs were never crowded when we were there. Overall, this is a very peaceful, clean, convenient hotel. It is a great value and I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a suite/condo for their vacation to check out Plantation Hale.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to the Kailua River Boat Tour and Tropical Paradise less than 5 minutes south of the hotel for a relaxing, nature-filled morning before an afternoon at the beach. And if you want to snorkel, buy gear (we got great quality gear for $10 at the grocery store in Kapaa) because there are great spots for snorkeling all over the island and it is much cheaper than renting (we went 4 times.)

Great place for families to stay in Kauai

Despite the rooms being older, they are extremely clean and the staff is friendly. The pools were nice, there's a Bluray player, and the kitchen has everything you need - except a full size coffee maker - it's only a 6 cup so bring extra filters if you drink a lot of coffee! It's steps away from a beautiful beach to stroll or watch the waves. A few minutes drive are swimming beaches and grocery stores. We would definitely stay here again.

Cheap but not the best.

Rooms are only partially updated and not very clean. Dirty floors, fingerprints all over cabinets, nasty shower. The shower was very outdated. Ok for the week, but I would not stay there again. I have stayed in a lot better places in Hawaii for similar money.

Plantation Hale on Kauai

It was great, well-built hotel suites (tile floors), full kitchen (utensils, dining service, blender, toaster), good views. Even better than our trip to Maui.

Good Location!!!!

Pros: This hotel locates close to groceries stores such as Safeway and Foodland. Walking distant to beach, restaurants. Staff are helpful and friendly. Our room (king size bed) had beautifull ocean view and quite. Cons: Carpet is worn and old. Should be replaced with tiles esp in tropical climate Water heater is old and burned up during our stay. Caused inconvenience for us having to move from a room w king bed to a room with 2 single beds The room facing the mountain / street side is noisy due to traffic. Should not schedule pest spraying / treatment during guests stay.

We ony ate out few times at restaurants. Main reason was lack of uniqueness. Most of them offer steak/seafood/french fries which we can have here in California at much cheaper price. We got our local food laulau (chickent and pork) from Pono Market. Poke is much fresher from Safeway/Costco. You can buy local grass fed beef from Kojima Market.

Best Hotel I've Stayed In

My Dad and Grandmother have family in Kauai, so when we went to visit, we stayed at the Plantation Hale. My Grandmother was impressed that her "room" was bigger than her apartment in Waikiki! The bedroom was AWESOME! My Dad and I had our own beds and while he took a nap, I was outside in the living room, watching the other TV! The kitchen impressed me the most! It had everything you needed to cook (utensils, pots, plates, silverware, etc.), you just have to bring the food and drinks! I have stayed in hotel rooms in Wakiki and Las Vegas, but the Plantation Hale in Kauai is the BEST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED AT!!!
