The beachfront resort spreads over 12.6 acres with a 300,000-gallon fantasy pool in the heart of it. Units range from hotel rooms to two-bedroom vacation condos, located in seven low-rise buildings across an expanse of manicured lawns dotted with pools, waterfalls and slender palms. Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort opened in 2007 and has a decidedly upscale look and feel, exemplified by the use of exotic wood and imported stone in accommodations. The Building Industry Association of Hawaii recognized the resort as a Parade of Homes "standout."Highlights
- 300,000-gallon fantasy pool with meandering river and dual serpentine slides
- Full-service Spa by the Sea
- Complimentary wired Internet in every unit

Maid service can be requested for a fee.Features

Very enjoyable stay
Location was very good. The water slides and the river-pool were excellent. We enjoyed that for many hours a day. We did not like the two connected bathrooms with only one of those having a shower. The bath tub was OK. The appliances in the kitchen were top of the line with Sub-zero refrigerator, Wolf cook-top and oven, dishwasher, GE Microwave, etc. However, the sofabed was very cheap and poor quality. You may need a Plan B in case you are counting on the sofa bed. The room had a washer and a dryer. If we had known that before hand we would have taken less clothes. High end, very clean and very new facility (4 years or so old) and is visited primarily by young couples with children. There are few retired permanent residents. Located across a shopping center with Safeway, Longs Drugs, and a few restaurants including Subway, Panda Express, etc. There are many other restaurants that are very close to the hotel.

Great resort for kids!
This was our fourth time in Kauai, but our first time at the Waipouli Resort. We will definitely come back again to Waipouli. It is ideally located on the east side of the island. East side beaches are not recommended for swimming, but it is an easy drive to beautiful swimming beaches in the North and South. The resort grounds were beautiful and the pool was a lot of fun for the kids. Our suite was well equipped for cooking. The king bed was very comfortable, but the couch bed for our son was not very comfortable. The AC unit in our suite broke during our stay and could not be fixed. Two of three hot tubs on the grounds were also not working. Despite these inconveniences, which we attributed to bad luck, we had a great stay. This is a great resort if you have kids. There were tons of kids in the pool every day well into the evening. Honeymooners or others looking for a kid-free vacation may want to stay elsewhere. The restaurant on the grounds poolside is too pricey with a menu that is very high-end and particular. Given how much time everyone spent poolside, it would have been great to have a restaurant that offered more casual dining options.

Short drive from hotel
Lydgate Park is one exception for safe swimming on the East side of Kauai. For kids, it offers a protected cove for swimming and snorkeling and one of the best playgrounds I have ever seen. It is a very short drive from the resort.

Foodland and Safeway are located right across the street. You can pick up most anything that you would expect to find at a mainland store. Also, a McDonald / Starbucks located in the area.

WONDERFUL TIME AND LOCATION
stayed a week through Father's Day weekend. The hotel was clean, quiet and spacious. We are hotel snobs, and we chose this location for the rooms and kitchen. It did not disappoint. The kids loved the koi fish feeding, the water slides, the river, the cave and waterfalls, and the sandy kids pool area. We rode helicopters and went tubing, and other sightseeing tours...this hotel was in a centralized location which made it convenient. Safeway, foodland and the stores around made it real nice too. It was a vacation that we will never forget. The kids were grouchy when it was time to head to the airport to come home.

Very Nice
This was our first experience in a resort of this caliber. The room was exactly like the pictures and very clean. The pool and staff were also wonderful. Everything was great except for the noise from the restaurant (which was good, but a bit overpriced for what it was). We stayed oceanfront in building A. Payed a lot more for this view, but all night long (until at least 10pm) you could hear clanking dishes as if they were right in your room if you had any doors/windows open. Don't know if it is like this in any of the other buildings, but you may want to ask first. Very relaxing listening to the ocean while you sleep...just make sure you don't want to sleep before 10 (which is pretty late by Kauai standards). Would have given 5 stars if not for this.

Pau Hana Bar and Grill. Located right across the street in the shopping plaza. Looks like a little dive bar, but they have great food and cheap drinks. We ate there 4 times in our 9 day stay.

Great Place - needs work.
Room was fantastic - one of the best layouts we have experienced. As usual, the kitchen cups, plates, pots and pans, cutlery were cheap and didn't match the quality of the kitchen (awesome Sub-Zero fridge and Wolf stove and granite counter tops!!!). The room was never cleaned for our 9 night stay - just straightened up and missing things that should have been replaced if used or used up (kleenex, towels, dish cloth, etc.) were not. If a washer an dryer are provided - it wouldn't be too much to ask for a bit of detergent. Pool was small, beach area was small and not bather friendly. Although access to shopping across the street was convenient, it felt like suburbia. All in all though a very nice property.

Secret Beach - located between the Kilaeau Lighthouse and Kalihawai Bay, this was one of the most spectacular beaches we have seen. Really tough to get to though. We were fortunate to get to it from a property above the embankment on Kauapea Road (where Jennifer Aniston lives). Be careful though, rouge waves can be nasty!

Honeymoon
The condo provided all the amenities of home. We loved the kitchenette and loved the layout of the condo. It was a good location for all of the activities we had planned for our stay. We highly reccomend kayaking the Wailua River and hiking Waimea Canyon. The views are breathtaking. Our favorite dining spot was about a mile north of our resort. Eastiside restaurant is a must do!

Great Accommodations for a Family
We stayed at the Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort for two nights. The rooms are outstanding, however, be forewarned that a partial mountainview room means a great view of the strip mall across the street, with Safeway being the focal point of your view. When we complained to the front desk about the view, they were very accommodating and were able to move us the next day. The rooms are really top notch. The kitchen is large and spacious with high end appliances. The beds are very comfortable and the furnishings are beautiful. We had our two teenage boys and daughter with us, and they had a blast on the water slides as did my husband and I. The hotel is centrally located to either the South or North shores. We had happy hour at the Oasis restaurant and the truffle potatoes and cold beers tasted amazing. We would definitely return to the hotel again and appreciate their efforts to make our stay enjoyable.
