Strolling the beach and lounging poolside are pleasant ways to while away vacation days, and sunrise doesn't get much better. Grills are available for guests and the hotel rooms and one-bedroom suites offer home-away-from-home conveniences. The adjacent Coconut Marketplace has dozens of shops and restaurants.Highlights

- Walking distance to Coconut Marketplace
- Free in-room Internet access
- Complimentary parking
Location
Kauai's Coconut Coast is the most central and convenient for vacationers who want to explore all that the Garden Isle has to offer -- which is to say, a lot. Aston Islander on the Beach is located almost mid-way between Waimea Canyon to the west and the riveting cliffs and dramatic topography of the Na Pali coast to the north. Poipu Beach is about 15 miles southwest. The eastern shore has its own compelling sights, too. Peaceful Wailua River, Wailua Falls, and Kauai Backcountry Adventure's Lihue tubing are just a short drive away.Rooms
Teak furnishings, private lanais, air conditioning and free Internet access give accommodations an inviting island ambiance with contemporary appeal. Aston Islander on the Beach offers 198 units -- hotel rooms to one-bedroom suites -- in the low-rise, walk-up buildings set around the pleasant property.Features
The beach at Aston Islander on the Beach is perfect for strolling and sunning and the pool is a peaceful respite from the frenetic world. But sports, sights and restaurants are nearby, allowing guests to choose how to spend their time. Lydgate Beach Park, for example, draws swimmers and snorkelers of all ages to its protected, sandy lagoon, and nearby Wailua Golf Course was named by Golf Digest as one Hawaii's 15 best courses.Dining
There are no on-site restaurant but grills on property offer family cookouts. Guests can walk to restaurants at Coconut Marketplace.Transportation

Couldn't have been better
The one thing that made our stay extra special was we paid extra for a room with an ocean view and they gave us a room right on the ocean which made our stay even that much better. We fell asleep every night listening to the waves crashing on to the beach, it was great! The maid service was excellant and they don't come around until the afternoon which was nice. The location is great, it is in the middle of the island which cut down on the driving we had to do. If you are looking to get a lot for your money the Islander on the Beach is the place.

Great base for our Kauai vacation
Great value, central location. The Islander staff was helpful. We loved staying here. We barbequed almost every night down by the pool. The grounds were lovely, and well kept. We loved going to the beach every morning for the sunrise. Parking was tight, but the staff was helpful in finding us a spot. The market across the street had the typical tourist things, which was great, even had a little hula show. Eggberts was fun to go to. All in all we love Kauai, and staying at the Aston Islander made it an affordable trip.

Great price for a hotel on the beach
We stayed here for nine nights on our honeymoon. The staff upgraded us to an ocean view room. We loved the central location of the hotel: close to stores and restaurants, and the east shore location made both Poipu and Hanalei not too far of a drive. We appreciated having the hotel on the beach. We could watch sunrises, sunbathe, go to the pool, go to the room to take a nap...everything was right there.

Basic, but works as an inexpensive getaway
Nothing special but it's an inexpensive place to crash on Kauai. As other reviews have said, make it your base of operations for exploring the island. Only thing about the room that drove us a bit nuts was the tiled floor...there seemed to always be sand on it, no matter how many times the room service folks vacuumed or mopped it...and with barefeet the sand stuck, and, well, it can get everywhere...

Great Motel Without the Fuss
I have no complaints about this deal. The grounds and room were well maintained and nice. We were happy to get a super great value by choosing this hotel with no restaurant. We had an empty frig and a microwave. The coffee they provided was excellent and we could walk across the parking lot to the coconut mkt. place for eateries, shopping, and supplies. The location on the east shore was perfect for us. I would stay here again . Staff was helpful and prompt.

great room, great price
Our first priority: a clean room (I've been let down so many times before) was met. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got the ocean front rooms and the ocean was so close it sang us to sleep at night. The tiki bar was convenient for drunkening without risks of driving back to the hotel. The price was stunningly low given all the above. The only down side was the bar closed at 10pm and there was no restaurant in the hotel (though there were several in walking distance).

Great hotel, prime and quitet location
Hotel was right on the beach, very clean, even though furniture was a bit old. Very quiet rooms. Grounds were perfectly landscaped and maintained, pool was great, staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The ocean could be a little rough for swimming, but most days was OK. Plenty of dining and shopping options around.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
The hotel had an Aloha book with great discounts. We scored a 2-for-1 island Air Tour and several restaurant coupons.
