Hurray for Turtle Bay!

We enjoyed the beautiful beaches and the hiking trails that were available on the grounds! All the staff were friendly and helpful! We did not like the smoke that came down onto our balcony from the smoking room above us. We greatly enjoyed staying at Turtle Bay and would highly recommend it to others!

Far from the bustle of Honolulu

Good choices for eating, swimming (ocean and pool/jacuzzi), snorkeling, horseback riding, tide pooling, and walking within and adjacent to the hotel property. Fridge in room great benefit- surprisingly not advertised when hotel booked. Resort fee is silly- should be part of regular charge since it is mandatory.

Amazing views

My wife and I went to Turtle Bay for our anniversary. We were immediately impressed with the view from our room. It overshadowed the outdated room and bathroom. If you want to have a getaway from city life, stay in the North Shore. There are no other hotels or late night restaurants/lounges, so don't expect a nightlife. But peace and quiet is what we came for. So we had a wonderful time.

Awesome Family Vacation

Turtle Bay Resort met all our expectations. We we first entered our room (219) in the south wing on the second floor, we were amazed with the ocean view that greeted us. I didn't think with the deal that we got on Orbitz that our room would have the kind of view we had. We enjoyed the pools everyday and visited the snorkeling bay on several occasions. We also enjoyed the horseback riding. Beautiful Kawela Bay (where Lost was filmed) is only a short walk away but was always completely isolated. We didn't eat at the resort but enjoyed fantastic food at Giovanni's Shrimp truck, Ted's Bakery, and Haleiwa Joe's. We had a car so we were able to get groceries at the nearby Kahuku Superette, Foodland in Laie as well as the Foodland near Sunset Beach. During our stay we went to the Polynesian cultural center, Dole Plantation, Sunset Beach, Waimea Beach, and Atlantis Adventure in Waikiki. At Waimea Beach my wife and daughter saw turtle while snorkeling as well as many fish including a box jelly fish.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

We bought cereal, milk, yogurt, and various fruits for breakfast from the local grocery stores (Foodland, Kahuku Superette) and kept in the room's refrigerator. We thoroughly enjoyed opening the sliding door, listening to the pounding surf and relaxing in our chairs as we ate breakfast in our room. We didn't find Ted's Bakery until the 5th day of our stay but from then on we had either lunch or dinner takeout. Ted's has fantastic tasting food as well as bakery goods and all reasonably priced.

First time in HI & at Turtle Bay Resort

The hotel is on the North Shore far from crowds and hustle of Waikiki beach. If you are looking for some quiet or maybe some golf then this is the hotel for you. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms were as described online and very comfortable. The concierge staff for the cottages was cheerful, helpful and polite. Five stars to [...] from the concierge staff. The only problem was with our room key which had to be rekeyed several times, which was a bit annoying. Staying at the cottage was the best, opening the curtains (when closed) to a blue ocean every morning was the best of all. This is a hotel where you can do nothing at all if you wish, and just enjoy the sounds of ocean and the sunsets. Every night the bed was turned down and a little tasty treat left on the bed. The rooms were very clean. What I didn't care for was the chairs on the patio for the cottages, and when I asked for different chairs the manager said no with no explanation as to why. There were hammocks but they were made of rope and not very comfortable. I also thought the pool was small for such a large hotel, although the beach is right there parts of the beach are very rocky and not great for swimming in. Plenty of good restaurants on site but rather expensive. You can go off the resort and find some good food at a cheaper price.

OUTSTANDING!

I loved the service and the many complimentary services offered at hotel like free breakfast buffet and Polynesian cultural center. I didn't like the hidden charges of $150 per day for using a debit card...but hotel did waive fees.

Beautiful!! But prepare your pocket...

The hotel is really good, clean and confortable; but you only pay to sleep in your room, nothing is included... The breakfast buffet is about US$ 25,00 per person (more tax and tip), the Luau at the beach 95,00 per person, the horse ride is 55,00 and the surf class is 75,00 (the tip is not included and should be about 40,00). Was a very good choice for us, but if you are planning to do anything different you have to pay. I had the surf class and was something that I'll never forget! Yes, their pillows are like rocks! The beach was very beautiful with great spots for snorkeling, chairs and umbrelas for hotel guests (for free!). I'd go back and I recomend this place for sure!

Great getaway for relaxation!

The Resort was fabulous! The staff were very friendly, rooms were beautiful and clean. A room with a balcony is a MUST. I loved reading and watching the ocean from our room in the mornings/evenings. The "Green Trail" provides for a great running/walking route along Turtle Bay. There is snorkeling and swimming to do right at the hotel (Kuilima Cove and Turtle Bay). You get to see Honu's and colorful fish without having to drive anywhere. The only downside to the seclusive location (which is what we wanted) is that dining options are expensive on the resort and lack healthy options. Take a 10 minute drive to Laie near the Polynesian Cultural Center for a Taco Bell, Subway, Pizza Hut, great shave ice shop, and L&L's Drive-Thru. Not all are healthy of course but it's definitely cheaper than spending $30-$40 per meal 3x a day. "Foodland" is 15-20 minutes away - pick up some bagels and oatmeal and you can make your own breakfast each day.
