Del Webb, the real estate mogul and one-time New York Yankees owner, opened Turtle Bay Resort in 1972 and ever since then, it's been entertaining guests with an involving line-up of activities, from surfing lessons and making your own flower-leis to learning how to play the ukulele. Add to this the two chlorine-free swimming pools, water slide, trails for hiking and biking, and championship golf courses, and it's no wonder that Turtle Bay draws sizable crowds. Wicker and natural woods contrast with brighter shades indoors, while the verdant north shore of Oahu provides all the views you need from the terrace restaurant, Ola. Nalu Kinetic Spa provides ocean panoramas, a massage table that simulates the sensation of floating at sea, and calming hot-stone treatments.

Dining

Pa'akai
A fresh twist on locally sourced dining. Pa'akai - or "sea salt" in the Hawaiian language, reflecting Hawaii's numerous seaside salt beds - features sea-to-table cuisine. Pa'akai's menu highlights the best in fresh local fish, farm-raised lobster, Kauai prawns, sea asparagus, seaweed and sea salt produced in Hawaii.
North Shore Kula Grille
The ancient Hawaiians divided their land into three sections: Mauka, kula and makai - or mountains, midland and the sea - known as ahupua 'a. It is the kula lands, primarily used for agriculture, that now serve as the inspiration for the North Shore Kula Grille. A place where farm-to-table thinking is behind every ingredient on our menu.
Lobby Lounge
At the Lobby Lounge, you will find friendly service, exotic cocktails and a diverse menu to satisfy all of your cravings. Enjoy freshly brewed Coffees, Latts, Cappuccinos, Espresso Drinks, Smoothies, Beer, Wine, and Handcrafted Cocktails like the Pupukea Lychee and the Skinny Lilikoi Chi Chi. Signature dishes include Citrus Ponzu Calamari and Grilled Kahuku Honey & Mango Glazed Chicken.
Ola
Enjoy contemporary island cuisine with the sand between your toes. The only restaurant on O'ahu located literally on the beach, Ola is an experience for all the senses. The concept, cuisine and atmosphere of the open-aired restaurant that literally sits on the beach is summed up in its name, "Ola" which means "life, living, healthy and alive." Chef Fred DeAngelo delights guests with his innovative cuisine.
Surfer, The Bar
Forget dark wood paneling and marble bar-tops, Surfer has its own very original look and feel. And although the bartender can fastidiously make your favorite cocktail, the drink of choice here is a 16-ounce pint of ice-cold beer, many of them local small-batch brews. Sure the food is fresh, flavorful, sometimes spicy Hawaiian comfort food, prepared by white-hat chefs in the acclaimed resort kitchen. But food, beverage and dcor are not the real reasons why the audience - locals, guests of the hotel and word travelers - gather here.
The Point
Enjoy tropical drinks surfside at the outdoor The Point. Stop by for a refreshing break and one of the island's best Mai Tai's. Relax to the sounds of the surf while you discover why Turtle Bay Resort has received awards for "Hotel with the Best View." Every night of the week you will find something special happening here. You may find a Drum Circle, a keiki hula halau, live Hawaiian Style music, Fish Fries, or Fire Knife Dancers and every day at sunset you have a chance to order The Point signature drink, the "Green Flash".
Lei Lei's Bar and Grill
Mouthwatering dishes and a laid back atmosphere make Lei Lei's a famous local haunt on O'ahu's Fabled North Shore. Talk Story with entertaining manager and host Ian. The excellent dishes and service is what brings regulars from the surf and movie industry here Dinner features a menu brimming over with entrees of fresh, succulent seafood, savory beef, chicken and pork prepared to perfection. Signature dishes include slow-roasted prime rib, ginger soy Ahi and our warm bacon dressing spinach salad. Compliment the meal with a selection from our extensive wine list. Lei Lei's is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served weekdays starting at 7:00 a.m. and on weekends starting at 6:30 a.m. Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. Dinner seating begins at 5:00 p.m. with the last seating at 10:00 p.m. Live soloist music is played every Thursday and Sunday nights from 6:00 p.m.

Beautiful setting

Spent a week at Turtle Bay Resort - a real "bucket list" vacation. The hotel was beautiful. All the facilities clean and well maintained. The physical setting took full advantage of the available views. Great walks, great staff. Only minor issue - the rooms furnishings were a little tired. Would go back tomorrow.

A superb get-away!

The Turtle Bay Resort is truly an island paradise. The service, amenities, cleanliness and location can't be beat. Every employee, from front desk staff to the landscaping crew, was helpful and friendly. The grounds, hotel, restaurants, shops, etc. were always spotless. Having spent 17 years as a hotel manager, I am very critical when it comes to judging hotel properties. This resort is superb, and I can't wait to return!

Take a quick drive to Hale'iwa for great shopping. If you like Thai food, see Opal at his catering van on the south end of town. It was truly the best Thai food I have ever had.

relaxing getaway

the cottages at turtle bay north shore oahu were perfect. private beachside and sunsets galore. always had fresh fruit daily left by room service and clean rooms everyday. lots of towels. was alittle walk to dining and regular hotel. but enjoyable. the marble bathroom was nice with a huge tub that 3 people could have bathed in. food was pricey especially at 21. for 4 people/400$ for 1 dinner. however it was the best food we ate the whole time on the island.

very nice

Turtle Bay is very nice and in a beautiful area in Oahu. The resort is huge and has alot to offer. Our view from our room was spectacular!! I would like to see some renovations however, the carpet and elevators are outdated and worn as was the room. The dining options couldv'e been better. All in all we had a great experience and would return and recommend.

Great Destination

The Turtle Bay Resort was the perfect place to have a romantic getaway. The Ola Restaurant was fabulous and the views from the rooms were breathtaking. Listening to the ocean at night was very relaxing. Parking at the resort was not good, but everything else was five star. Thank you Turtle Bay for a wonderful vacation.

Rent a car because the great dining is more than a walk away. There is some great dining at some out of the way restaurants. Ask around for the Hukilau Cafe and Ted's Bakery. You will not be disappointed.

The perfect Hawaiian vacation

Turtle Bay is a perfect location. All rooms face the ocean. You can snorkel, swim or surf right outside of your room. The pool is warm with a nice bar. You can walk the property and easily find an isolated beautiful beach that you have all to yourself. The is great mountain hiking within 30 minutes drive and the resort has tennis courts and 2 golf courses. The restaurants are excellent, though expensive. Get a package with the breakfast buffet included (it is excellent and saves alot of money, gratuity included). There are many shrimp trucks near the property where you can get a reasonably priced meal for lunch or dinner if you don't want to eat at the resort. All the staff were nice and the service was exceptional. I have never had better service at any restaurant, and they were all good. You definitely need a car. Since the flights back to the States leave at night, you can visit Pearl Harbor after you check out the last day and will have plenty of time. Honolulu is only 45 minutes away. You can also stop and visit Wakiki. There is really minimal nightlife at Turtle Bay so if you want that, stay a few days in Wakiki. You can't beat Turtle Bay for a relaxing, "away from it all resort" with all the amenities. Since it is on a point on the North Shore you can see the sun rise and set over the ocean every day. I will definitely return.

The Best Vacation Ever!

This was the best vacation we've ever had. The hotel was amazing- from the staff to the room to the amenities. We plan on going back next year. There is so much to see and do in addition to just laying out on their many spectacular beaches or at the pool. There are hiking trails, horseback riding, helicopter rides, snorkeling, scuba, surfing. We couldn't fit it all in! They had parrots in the lobby every day, refrigerators in the rooms, great shopping and dining. We recommend OLA- a superb restaurant that is also relaxing as it is an open air restaurant located on the beach. We were there almost every day, for dinner, lunch, drinks, dessert. Also recommend the helicopter ride- [...] is a great pilot and fabulous source of island info. We also got to take his dog, Zigi, up with us. Everyone at the Turtle Bay stable is wonderful and we had a beautiful peaceful horseback ride. There was nothing we would change about our vacation at Turtle Bay- except that our stay was too short! You need at least 2 weeks and maybe more to see everything! Thank you, Turtle Bay- for a relaxing and wonderful time.

Wonderful, quiet "true Hawaiian" vacatio

We loved Turtle Bay resort! The staff was very friendly & helpful. Our favorite thing was the lanai with a magnificent view of the surf. The room was great. We're not fans of Waikiki (seems like Las Vegas with a beach), so we loved the quiet, true Hawaiian feel. Plenty of activities to do, or not. We loved the "hiking" trails in the resort--jungle to beach and back again. Snorkeling is fun-Hanauma Bay is a must, along with Shark's cove. We were lucky & saw turtles in three different places, and a couple of seals sunning themselves. We didn't want to come home & are already talking about our next visit.

Not as many options on the North Shore. Hotel favorite was Lei Lei's by the golf course! All are pretty pricey. Our favorite eatery was in Haleiwa--The Grass Skirt Grill! Super fresh fish & reasonable ($13/pp for a plate lunch or dinner). Haleiwa Joe's was excellent as well, less casual, & more $$, but worth it. Don't miss Matsumoto's, or Ted's Bakery (chocolate haupia pie & coconut moons).

fantastic resort in all ways

the hotel was wonderful, the resort was so quiet and peaceful. The sunsets were amazing. They acutally post that after 9pm is quiet time in the hotel which is what we wanted-the peacefulness of true Hawaii. The only thing i would change is they could use better mattresses at the hotel, they were alittle uncomfortable. The snorkeling spots down the road from the hotel were gorgeous. we saw turtles swimming while we were swimming in the ocean on the hotel property. It was amazing.
