Del Webb, the real estate mogul and one-time New York Yankees owner, opened Turtle Bay Resort in 1972 and ever since then, it's been entertaining guests with an involving line-up of activities, from surfing lessons and making your own flower-leis to learning how to play the ukulele. Add to this the two chlorine-free swimming pools, water slide, trails for hiking and biking, and championship golf courses, and it's no wonder that Turtle Bay draws sizable crowds. Wicker and natural woods contrast with brighter shades indoors, while the verdant north shore of Oahu provides all the views you need from the terrace restaurant, Ola. Nalu Kinetic Spa provides ocean panoramas, a massage table that simulates the sensation of floating at sea, and calming hot-stone treatments.

Dining

Pa'akai
A fresh twist on locally sourced dining. Pa'akai - or "sea salt" in the Hawaiian language, reflecting Hawaii's numerous seaside salt beds - features sea-to-table cuisine. Pa'akai's menu highlights the best in fresh local fish, farm-raised lobster, Kauai prawns, sea asparagus, seaweed and sea salt produced in Hawaii.
North Shore Kula Grille
The ancient Hawaiians divided their land into three sections: Mauka, kula and makai - or mountains, midland and the sea - known as ahupua 'a. It is the kula lands, primarily used for agriculture, that now serve as the inspiration for the North Shore Kula Grille. A place where farm-to-table thinking is behind every ingredient on our menu.
Lobby Lounge
At the Lobby Lounge, you will find friendly service, exotic cocktails and a diverse menu to satisfy all of your cravings. Enjoy freshly brewed Coffees, Latts, Cappuccinos, Espresso Drinks, Smoothies, Beer, Wine, and Handcrafted Cocktails like the Pupukea Lychee and the Skinny Lilikoi Chi Chi. Signature dishes include Citrus Ponzu Calamari and Grilled Kahuku Honey & Mango Glazed Chicken.
Ola
Enjoy contemporary island cuisine with the sand between your toes. The only restaurant on O'ahu located literally on the beach, Ola is an experience for all the senses. The concept, cuisine and atmosphere of the open-aired restaurant that literally sits on the beach is summed up in its name, "Ola" which means "life, living, healthy and alive." Chef Fred DeAngelo delights guests with his innovative cuisine.
Surfer, The Bar
Forget dark wood paneling and marble bar-tops, Surfer has its own very original look and feel. And although the bartender can fastidiously make your favorite cocktail, the drink of choice here is a 16-ounce pint of ice-cold beer, many of them local small-batch brews. Sure the food is fresh, flavorful, sometimes spicy Hawaiian comfort food, prepared by white-hat chefs in the acclaimed resort kitchen. But food, beverage and dcor are not the real reasons why the audience - locals, guests of the hotel and word travelers - gather here.
Hang Ten Bar & Grill
Enjoy tropical drinks surfside at the outdoor Hang Ten Bar & Grill. Stop by for a refreshing break and one of the island's best Mai Tai's. Relax to the sounds of the surf while you discover why Turtle Bay Resort has received awards for "Hotel with the Best View." Every night of the week you will find something special happening here. You may find a Drum Circle, a keiki hula halau, live Hawaiian Style music, Fish Fries, or Fire Knife Dancers and every day at sunset you have a chance to order the Hang Ten signature drink, the "Green Flash".
Lei Lei's Bar and Grill
Mouthwatering dishes and a laid back atmosphere make Lei Lei's a famous local haunt on O'ahu's Fabled North Shore. Talk Story with entertaining manager and host Ian. The excellent dishes and service is what brings regulars from the surf and movie industry here Dinner features a menu brimming over with entrees of fresh, succulent seafood, savory beef, chicken and pork prepared to perfection. Signature dishes include slow-roasted prime rib, ginger soy Ahi and our warm bacon dressing spinach salad. Compliment the meal with a selection from our extensive wine list. Lei Lei's is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served weekdays starting at 7:00 a.m. and on weekends starting at 6:30 a.m. Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. Dinner seating begins at 5:00 p.m. with the last seating at 10:00 p.m. Live soloist music is played every Thursday and Sunday nights from 6:00 p.m.

Beautiful Setting

We watched incredible sunrises & sunsets, hiked along the ocean, and snorkled with turtles, all there at the resort. The food was delicious also, a little pricy but worth it

Beautiful location, great staff, pricey

We had a great time at Turtle Bay Resort. Staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Place is clean although pools are starting to show signs of age and will require some maintenance in the near future. The food at the restaurants was ok, not really outstanding, and pricey for the quality received but I guess is pricey in most places of this beautiful island. We would recommend this place to our friends and we would come back again.

Very family friendly, great view, great pool

The Turtle Bay resort exceeded all our expectations. Chek in, Conceirge, Valet, Housekeeping, Dining Staff..every one tended to our needs and requests. I must highlight the Concierge service. They did a fantastic job. They arranged for our Kayaking, Swimming with Sharks, Cruise and Parasailing activities even though it was outside the resort. The Ola restaurant by the beach was fantastic and the Luau on Friday was nicely done. My wife loved Lei Lei's. They did a good job of getting us involved in the festivities. The location was just what we wanted...secluded. And we were there during the 4th of July fireworks..and managed to get front row seats to the amazing fireworks display...from our room near the shore. The people here are nice, friendly and will make it a point to make your stay a positive and memorable experience. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location...

...and the only nicer quality hotel on the North Shore. If you are going for a resort experience, it is a nice place to be. However, if you are going to Turtle Bay for the location on that side of the island, be prepared to spend more than you expected. The first surprise at check-in is the additional $20.00 per day charge for amenities that would never cost you at any other hotel-- 2-star and up. Be sure to request a room with a balcony or you will do without--maybe paying-in-advance doesn't rate a balcony room. The room was big and all rooms overlook the ocean, which is very nice. A sofa in the room would have been nice for a comfortable place to sit and relax other than the bed. The hotel staff is friendly and, because of my husband's handicap, we were provided with free valet service which was very nice. Turtle Bay is a nice hotel, but only if you want to spend all of your time there, everything else is quite a drive.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

The Polynesian Cultural Center, to the east about 25 minutes and Haleiwa, to the west about 25 minutes, are the closest attractions. But, there are plenty of shrimp shacks along the road, our favorite being Romy's. The shrimp is fresh and delicious!

Great vacation

Turtle bay resort is greatly located, but one and half hours far from Honolulu. The nearby beach has various kinds of fish, which you can watch with snorkeling equitment that the hotel rent you for free for one hour a day. I was given two towel cards that were used when beach towels were borrowed. So, basically beach towels were free on the beach and pool. The resort is highly recommneded for those who want to escape from crowded cities and enjoy the beautiful ocean and sunset.

Fun time for all!!!!!

We had a great time. The hotel room does show some wear, but that can be expected with the climate. If you stay here please make sure to take care of the environment. THe North Shore is a wonderful place and needs to be taken care of.

Great all around experience!

Turtle Bay offers a great location on the North Shore away from all the Honolulu chaos. The rooms are spacious and all have an ocean view. We were upgraded at check-in to an upper floor deluxe room. All the on-site amenities are great: 5 miles of beaches, good snorkeling and surfing, great pool, spa, variety of restaurants with good food, horse back riding, helicopter tour rides, two outstanding golf courses, and affordable resort shopping. Located nearby are: the Polynesian Cultural Center, great North Shore surfing (large waves in the winter) but calmer snorkeling and diving (in the summer), farms with freshly raised shrimp, vegetables, and fruit sold roadside, and peaceful beautiful scenery. The service is outstanding for all facets of this hotel. This is the BEST relaxation and fun we've found in a hotel recently - go enjoy it!

Try the fresh roadside Kahuku shrimp and corn on the cob just a couple of miles east of the hotel. The drive down beach side country road east of the hotel is beautiful and fun. Snorkeling was good at narby beaches. Waimea Bay beach and falls should not be missed.

Beautiful and relaxing

If you want to go to Hawaii to relax and be far away from tons of tourists, Turtle Bay Resort is the place for you! It's a 45-minute drive to the hustle and bustle of Honolulu or Waikiki, and 20 minutes from Hale'iwa, the famous North Shore surfing town. The private beach at Turtle Bay Resort is quiet and relaxing, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. My favorite part of the hotel room is the sliding glass doors; I slept with them open every night to hear the sound of the ocean. I will definitely stay at Turtle Bay Resort the next time I go to Oahu!! Be sure to rent a car if you stay here, so you can drive to tourist attractions all around the island.

Good Family Resort

We stayed at this resort for 1 night ... But let me list my observations.. - This place is some 35 miles from the HNL airport and at least 1 hr drive from there . The directions are pretty simple once u are out of the airport area - You can visit the Dole Plantation on ur way to the hotel !! That is a good 2 - 3 hrs fun visit . Lunch time is a good place to be at Dole. Pineapple icecream is pretty good. - The Resort does NOT have much real beach of its own or very nearby. The resort has a lagoon - which is ideal for kids with very gentle waves. But otherwise beachs are scarce and are mostly coral . That makes the beaches useless for swimming etc. - The resort itself is very good and with good pools & restaurents. - Pool towel service is a nice feature. u can get free pool towels - This place is only 15 mins drive from Polynesian center. If u plan to visit this from Waikki beach area - it will be at least 90 mins drive from there. Polynesian center is a good place to visit and needs minimum 1 full day. With the evenning show a must. The tickets at the center are Valid for 3 days - so u can plan / split accordingly - Valet service is $10 + Resort Fees is $20 .. but good value for money - Does have a wedding chapel and a nice area around it Overall it is a nice resort !!
