The oceanfront Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort in Keauhou, Kona not only has a magnificent location, but also rests on a landscape dotted with historic sites and tidal pools. Old Hawaiian temple mounds, a canoe landing and petroglyphs remain, and the resort staff is happy to share their history with guests. Great view!
We were very happy with the requested ocean view room as well as the better than average breakfast offering, and the ample parking. The location of the hotel was also very good. We were 15 minutes from the airport and within 10 minutes of a lovely oceanfront walk near shops and restaurants.

Sightseeing tip:
Not Applicable
If you are interested in visiting Volcanoes National Park leave very early in the morning or book a single night closer to the park-it was a long drive from our hotel. Consider splurging on a helicopter flight over the park- we were able to see bubbling lava pits that way.

THERE IS ALOT TO DO ALONG THE ALII STRIP BUT NOT MUCH PARKING SO RIDE THE SHUTTLE IF POSSIBLE IT PICKS UP AT THE HOTEL SEVERAL TIMES A DAY.

not luxurious but very enjoyable
we hated to leave, a good place for relaxing quiet vacation, viewing of turtles and fish was more than expected, we were very satisfied. Snorkeling right off shore was also great, but no sandy beach at all.

Good hotel
Good hotel , food is good too but amenties and bathrooms in the rooms are a bit outdated. Overall a good hotel and value for the price. The staff is very friendly!

Keauhou Beach resort, hawaii Big island
Best place we have ever stayed on the Big island. Wonderful location, great staff., Near many Hawaaian cutural spots and not in the crowded downton area. Ideal for vacation, wedding or honeymoon. We all loved it and will be back to stay in this hotel very soon. Stu & Dana C.( plus 2 kids & 1 grandchild)

Nice place to stay
I was very happy with my stay here. The room was nice and very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. the complimentry breakfast was good. The location and view was excellent. The price was moderate. I would highly recommend this hotel to someone visiting Kona, Hi.

Just a dreamy resort. The rooms overlooking the ocean, whale watching from our balcony, amazing snorkeling a short walk from the hotel, the breakfast buffet, the Hawaiian music, the friendly staff, the sunsets, the lovely grounds....Couldn't have been better.

Great stay - great snorkeling location
Its all about location here. The hotel is next door to one of the premier snorkeling areas on the island with easy access. Clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. This was our second stay at the Outrigger. Free hot buffet breakfast is now included in the price of the hotel room which is a great value add.

Was everything we expected & more
The staff is the BEST! Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The location is outstanding since Kahalu'u Beach Park is literally right next door. The only thing that could be improved on would be for the beds to be a bit more comfortable, and to make wireless available in the rooms (although we weren't in the room very much). Other than that, we wouldn't change a thing!

Kona - March 2012
Hotel was slightly above average, older for sure but clean, fine for us as we only needed it for a place to sleep and clean up. Bath/sink areas were smallish but sufficient. Mini fridge, older tv, but again - sufficient, no frills. View was very nice. No ice machine on our floor and staff missed our room one day. Buffett breakfast was really good, but get there before the crowd does. Parking is $10/day extra, and somewhat limited, especially if you are arriving later at night. Location is really good, plenty of nearby amenities, and downtown Kona is about 15 minutes down the road
