First Family Vacation
The overall experience was good. The location was close to the lagoon, beach, and malls. The size of the room was nice; especially the full kitchen. We also had a partial view of the water. On the other hand, the check in area for the time-share (Waikiki Marina Resort) was on the second floor. This required us to have to take two elevators as we were traveling with two small children. We requested a pack n play and it was not in our room as we were told. The laundry room was not up to par since all the washers were out of order. Each of the 5 working elevators were not big enough to fit the four of us with a stroller. We had to wait 15 minutes several times due to full elevators. There was also "construction" in progress and we could smell sewage from time to time.

Loved our time on Oahu
Very convenient location! We could easily travel to every beach around the island we wanted to get to. Also close to shopping and could catch the trolley right outside the hotel.

For reasonable prices and great food, go to the food court at Ala Moana or to an L & L Drive Inn for plate lunch. Many Waikiki restaurants are expensive and not that fantastic.

Great place to stay centrally located [...]
The Ilikia hotel is a great place to stay. Room had a full kitchen so we were able to buy snacks, food and drinks for when we were in the room. The only negative about the room was the noise of the refrigerator kepy coming on especailly at night. Hotel located right next to the Marina and not too far away from Waikiki beach area or the Ala Moana shopping center, which is a huge place. (Hint) Do not shop any place until you go too the swap meet at Aloha Stadium on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday. Used public transportation (bus) to go every place we wanted to go for $2.50. Too expensive to rent a car becuase most hotels charge $28 a day too park at their facilities. Another hint is when you arrive in Hawaii look at all the free books that are around and you can find discounts for restaurants and activities.

Waikiki Marina Resort ~ Best Location!
We stayed at the Marina Resort from May 22, 2010 - May 29, 2010. Our trip to Oahu was truly amazing. Staying at the Marina Resort at the Ilikai made it even better. We went for a wedding but we managed to do lots of sightseeing on this trip. If you're looking to experience the best of both worlds (city life/shopping and the beach) choose this hotel. There's a beautiful boardwalk with a bay and of course the beach...just steps away from our hotel. If you walk along the boardwalk behind the hotel, there's a wonderful restaurant along the beach called Tropics (part of the Hilton hotel), it's a little pricey but worth it for the food, view and atmosphere! Also, a 5-10 minute walk on the street side will get you to the mall, and also to the strip with designer stores and tons of souvenir shops. We didn't do too much shopping but we got lots of exercise just window shopping and checking out the restaurants on the strip. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. Rooms had a full kitchen which was great for making our own breakfast. The little bar downstairs had great food as well for lunch and dinner. We also rented a car so we could explore the island of Oahu. I suggest you do so. Parking is $18 a day and valet only but service is fast and friendly. Totally worth it. What we did while in Oahu: -snorkeling in Hanauma Bay -climbed Diamond Head -eternity beach -drove to North Shore (check out the shrimp trucks!) -Turtle Bay Resort My only 2 complaints was our "upgraded" view of the beach and housekeeping. We payed an extra $105 for a partial view of the beach but it's not worth it. It's only worth it if you're on a higher floor. Plus, we didn't spend enough time in the room to really enjoy it. Full housekeeping is only done 1 day a week, only towels are replenished daily. It wasn't a big deal but I like coming home to a clean freshly made bed. There are a few things we didn't get to do but overall, our trip was amazing. The hotel was great, I would definitely stay at the Marina Resort again.

BayArea Family
Good enough but
Perfect location, close to excellent beach and shopping/dining area, but not crowded. The only annoying thing - family of cocroaches coming at night. They felt quite comfortable crawling on the counter and, probably, using a blender (the biggest amount of small ones :) around). So, if you are going to use utensils, it's better to wash them in the morning.

A great stay
We had a fantastic time. The room was nice especially for the price. The concierge was wonderful and very helpful. There is a bus stop right outside which was convenient. Location was perfect for us. Kitchen came with everything we needed to cook except the food. Would stay again. Late check outs are pretty pricey, but they will hold your bags and let you use their pool, fitness center, etc until you leave.

Exceeded Expectations
We rented three condos for very good prices in the middle of spring break and were very satisfied - the one room we rented with a partial ocean view was worth the extra $20/night because it was located away from the bulevard, which is noisy at the lower levels (we were at 4th level).[...] the valet was the best I ever met, and the rest of the crew was great - they'd retrieve your car in about 90 seconds, so no need to call down. The concierge office on second floor (also where you check in and receive your package) was very good as well - great restaurant recommendations, and they can make car rental reservations for you (three rental locations in the building right across the street). The room was a small condo room, good, big bathroom, clean, shower but no tub, small kitchen, all have balcony (which is so-so). Elevator service was very quick on 4th floor. Nice lobby, which is shared with the hotel. he location by the marina is just finec- it's maybe 6 blocks from the heart of the strip, but it's also much quieter. You just have to decide which is more important to you.For the price and the kitchen, I'd stay there again.

Best Chinese food I've had in a long time in Chinatown - something Noodle House on Smith Street. Beautiful place, and good service/food. Walk around Chinatown - the produce stores are something else. We found it safe - 7 of us including a 2-year old in a stroller. Avoid Outback next door - rotten service and lousy food, and the Chart House next door was a let down, too. Best food overall is at the international market - everything we tried was excellent, especially the Korean vendor.

Wish We Were Hawaiian!
Great Home Away From Home!
We loved it! We'd stayed across the street at the Discovery Towers before, but this was way nicer. We enjoyed walking downtown every night, and walking down to the Ala Moana mall or beach during the day. When we didn't feel like walking we just popped out back to the lagoon at the Hilton- 2 mins away. Great views for the fireworks and we really enjoyed taking drinks down to the deck to watch the Hawaiian dancing & singing on Friday nights. Down at the Marina is the best pizza in the little corner pub, and we were within a 2 min walk to 2 ABCs, McDonald's, Sushi, & IHOP (not to mention The Outback, Red Lobster & Kobe). We enjoyed having a full kitchen & room safe, clean towels daily and a full clean twice a week. We'll definately be back!

Short drive from hotel
We did the 2 hour ATB ride at Kualoa Ranch and had a blast!! The groups are small (about 6 per) and you get to burn around and see the sights, as well as all the sites of different movies etc. Definately worth the $100.
