Good time for 1st timers!

We heard great things about this hotel and we were happy to have stayed here. Concierge was very helpful and accommodating. ... We only wish that when you scheduled events through concierge like tours or trips, that there would have been someone "coordinating" the ins and outs at the touring location. It was a little like you had to know what you were doing! We had a great time though!

If you're willing to get out of the mainstream of Honolulu, consider visiting a place on Hopaka Street (near the Ala Moana Shopping Center) called the Side Street Inn. Wonderful, laid back atmosphere, great food and great prices. We watched a football game, had a beer, and ate a nice meal (try the fried rice)for $40!!

I had a wonderful time. The location is absolutely the best! The room was wonderful with all the extra things that are hard ... to take in a suitcase provided for me, shampoo, hair dryer, iron and board, safe in the room. I didn't pay extra for a great view, but the bed was so comfortable I wouldn't have spent any time looking out the window anyway. I would love to go back.

I really enjoyed the comfort of this hotel, everything went smoothly. Especially coming from NY to Hawaii was a VERY LONNG ... trip. So the first thing we did was lay down on what seemed to be a heavenly bed, it was so hard to get up from it every morning because it was so comfortable. Our room was always clean, and it looked as the day we first arrived, and we stayed there for 7 nights. It is located a block away from the main strip where everyone is on. Its like a island version to NYC which I didn't expect actually. All the designer stores and restaurants along with ABC stores on every corner. Waikikii beach was a block away, and public transportation is inexpensive and right at the corner. We were able to tour the island on our own through the bus.

Although there was plenty of shopping right in the hotel, along with the big ABC store, tons of shopping on the strip, from inexpensive t-shirt places, 8-10 minutes to Macy's, the International Market, Hermes, Polo, and a lovely store named Mana Hawaii on Lewers Street just off Kalakaua with handmade crafts, Hula Implements and Hula group classes, etc. Also as mentioned, shopping trolley to Ala Moana which housed Sears, Nordstrom, BeBe, Max Azria, and usual mall offerings etc.

beautiful hotel
Hulagirl Nov 22, 2009
This hotel was stunning, comprising a square city block with multiple entrances and an open air courtyard filled with shops, ... as well as more shops in the internal ramp/walkway areas. I stayed in the Kealohilani Tower which is the one closer to the beach, but I was in Room 1910, and while the view was not the best (city view with a slice of Diamond Head, the pool, and the parking garage across the street), it was so quiet I heard absolutely no street level noise. I also heard none of the music at the Aston Waikiki lounge across the street (thankfully). The bed was very comfy, the in room fridge and computer port center was great, although internet connection (wifi or ethernet-cable was in the bureau drawer) was $14 a day, but if you signed up for 4 or more days of it, there was a sliding scale of fees. There was no line at the front desk at check in, and even at checkout, the line was very short, as they have in room checkout service. You did have to cross the street to get to the beach, but we're talking literally a few steps from the hotel entrance, and you could pick up towels at the pool area. The Waikiki beach is very narrow, and there is talk of building it up, but honestly, there's so much to see and do that I only sat on the beach (briefly) on the last day of my visit. There are numerous tours that stop at the hotel, and the free Hilo Hattie's trolley stops across the street at the ASton Waikiki, and so does the convenient pink-line shopping trolley, which will take you to the fabulous Ala Moana shopping center for $2 each way. Had a great evening at the poolside lounge on thursday night, listening to the Keawe family sing and dance hula. Also free hula shows every other night at the nearby hula mound on the beach, about three blocks down (close to MacDonalds). Wish I had time to go into Bob's ukelele store in the hotel, but will have to do that on some return trip. This hotel was also two blocks from Kapiolani Park where the Honolulu Zoo is located, and a very popular park for fitness/jogging activities. Felt very safe there, and that park also offered additional beach access.. Can't wait to go back!

Not up to par for a Marriott
Newly weds Nov 17, 2009
I had stayed here before about 6 years and remember it being a lot better and impressive. This time my new bride and I were ... on our honeymoon and looking for the same comfort I had experienced before. From the start I was not too happy when I found out about the additional 33.00 dollars a day for parking fee (plus $1.44 per day for garage tax on my final bill). The first morning we were there the room next door's alarm went off at 5:25 AM at full volume. After 45 minutes we called the front desk to have them turn it off because it was obvious that the room was unoccupied. When I received my final bill, we were charged $1.00 for using the phone to call the front desk!! The room was pretty clean, the bathroom could have been a little cleaner. The rooms are kinda small too. I just don't think I got the bang for my buck on this one. I will not be returning for a 3rd stay.

Doubtful dad Nov 16, 2009
We felt the location was ideal. There were things happening in the hotel, or across the street from the hotel on the beach. ... Waikiki was a most fun place and there were great restaurants within a very short walking distance. The people who served us or waited upon us were always so gracious, kind and helpful in every way. We'd love to go there again any time. Thanks for the great deal you provided us.

There were nice eating places along the beach front. We always had breakfast in our hotel at the buffet (wonderful). But for evening meals, we visited some of the very nice restaurants at a very short walk from the hotel. It was fun to try different places and try their meals. There were also some great shopping areas. Marvelous stores of all kinds.

Hotel was reasonable - I would have picked a different one except for the mis-representation on Web Site. "Hotel covers 5.5 ... acres" - I didn't realize they meant the building and garage foundation. I thought they'd have some nice gardens but there were none. Downstairs restaurant was highly overpriced and stingy with servers. Drinks were 'watered down'. Won't return.

The Marriott Waikiki was a great place to stay!! We had a great view of the beach. And could even see and the pool down ... below. We were in a Partial Ocean View suite. The room was clean and updated with a flat screen TV. The bed was so comfortable. We were in great walking distance to all the shops, boutiques, lounges, and restaurants. The concierge booked our North Shore tour of island and the Katamaran dinner cruise, both of which we enjoyed. The staff was friendly and very helpful.I would definitely stay again!!

Fantastic Hotel

The Waikiki Marriott is in an ideal location across the street from the beach and walking distance to shopping. The entire ... hotel is kept spotless and everyone went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We ate in all the restraunts located in the hotel and felt all were reasonably priced, food was excellent and served in large portions (we started splitting a dinner). This was truly a dream vacation and we plan to go back in 2010. So much to do on the Island and very relaxing. We would recommend getting the GoOahu Card for at least 3 days - it is well worth the money if you plan on doing tours, snorkeling, luau, etc. We had a 3 day and used it to the max. Go to Leonards Bakery for the fried donuts - absolutely the best. No need to rent a car as the bus line is great - for $2.25 you can go anywhere on the island. We did rent a car for 1 day to go up to the North Shore/Sunset Beach/Turtle Bay. Just a great vacation.
