Good Time.Relaxing!

Great location right on Waikiki Beach. Ocean front room with wonderful views of Diamond Head. Everything is walkable -we did not need a car. Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Cali. Pizza Kitchen, Margaritaville, and Dukes all within 1-2 minute walk. Great shopping within minutes walking. Hotel grounds were beautiful. although Waikiki is crowded, The RH was reserved with upscale atmosphere. Banana Nut Bread and smoothies at pool were nice touches.

Garden View - Royal Hawaiian

This was a our second year in a row staying at the TRH. The hotel has the absolute best location on Waikiki Beach and an unmatchable historical aesthetic. The rooms are on the smaller side and the bathrooms even smaller - but they are tastefully decorated and well appointed. We stayed at the cheapest option - Garden View which looks onto the entrance and Portico. Our room had a pretty view from the fifth floor with peeks at the Ocean through the palms and Banyan tree, however as opposed to the Coconut Grove view it can be noisy with disco/club music from the Sheraton next door running until 11PM or so a couple of the nights. In the future if [...] such a great package deal we wouldn't hesitate to book it again. One bummer was having to sign for towels at the pool/beach everyday (new policy) - I guess too many people were stealing them.

Don't get breakfast at TRH --- it sooooo expensive and not very generous and service not so great. Go to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center Food Court in front of the hotel and go to Maui Tacos for their Mexican breakfast for about 1/4th price and twice the amount of food (opens at 9am). Also avail yourself of the free coffee served in the hotel lobby every morning while on your way to reserve your lounge chair and umbrella (better do it by 7am!)

Many wonderful restaurants to choose from for dining. We can't find the Royal Hawaii hotel because it was hiding behind the Sheraton Hotel. I will stay there again.

"Pink Palace Doesn't Disappoint"

The ambiance at The Royal Hawaiian is unmatched. The many sitting areas throughout the hotel, as well as our room, were beautifully decorated in historic Hawaiian charm...no flowered bedspreads here! Understated elegance. The one pool on the property is more geared for adults, but RH guests have access to the family pool at the neighboring Sheraton, so everyone is happy. The roped-off beachfront area is great, with complimentary lounge chairs and umbrellas. Neighboring hotels either have little or no beachfront, or guest have to rent the chairs and umbrellas. Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is a few feet away, with The Cheesecake Factory and some nice shops. California Pizza Kitchen is across the street. Great location; great hotel.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

The RH has a suite for guests checking out later in the day, after the 12 noon check out. We spent our last day at the beach, checked our bags with the Bell Desk and came back to the suite, complete with a shower, bathroom, tv, sitting area, desk and telephone available for all guests. At any given time, there was only 1 other family in there. This suite made those last few hours in paradise much more convenient.

Hawaiian Vacation

The Royal Hawaiian offered everything you could need including a working mini fridge and safe at no additional charge. This allowed us to pick-up a supply of items including beverages from the local Costco. We also knew in advance that we were would be charged a $20/night resort fee above the hotel rate but that then gave self parking, WiFi and bottled water. This made it easier for us to choose in renting a car. The hotel staff was very accommodating, the beach chairs and umbrellas were great though people throwing down a book or towel to reserve and not using the chair was not right and it would be nice if the hotel could clear them or something. Since the hotel is a part of the Star-wood program, you could also utilize some of the facilities from the neighbouring Sheraton hotel through simply gaining a wrist band from the towel desk of the Royal Hawaiian. If we were to return we would definitely rebook the Royal Hawaiian and use of Orbits.

The best low cost fish we had was Nico's on Pier 38 (which was actually Pier 36 entrance - Fisherman Village) They serve other items but ratings are not as good as the fish.
