Family Vacation at The Royal Hawaiian

We loved staying here because it is close to everything and when you have a 5 year old that is important. So much is provided by the hotel that you don't need to pack much just your favorite toiletries, clothes, and sunscreen. The hotel provides very comfortable beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels so you don't have to lug around any of this stuff. Nobody ever mentions how strong the wind blows, but the Royal Hawaiian is situated in a way so you are protected from the wind unlike at its sister hotel the Sheraton. My daughter loved the family pool the Royal Hawaiian and the Sheraton share but it would get so windy on the Sheratons property that she preferred the Royal Hawaiian's swimming pool. My husband and I thought the food at the hotel was excellent and we were content to eat all of our meals at the Surf Lani. I only wish the Mai Tai Bar had more of a selection of items to eat. Children under 12 years old eat breakfast and lunch for free with a paying adult so that was a nice surprise to us. We will definitely stay here again because it's a beautiful property and convenient to everything.

Fantastic Hawaii getaway

Although the pool was small, the Royal Hawaiian is situated on the beach and a large pool is not necessary to enjoy oneself. The Royal Hawaiian is a very beautiful hotel - top of the line. The staff are very kind and the rooms are gorgeous and spotless. The garden view is beautiful. The hotel sits in a perfect spot close to all of the stores. It is close to many restaurants. I really enjoyed it! Room service was also superb!

The Pink Palace of Waikiki

This was our second trip to the Royal Hawaiian, and we could hardly wait to return. Tucked away in the commercial hub-bub that Waikiki has become, is this spacious, graceful gem. With its spreading and calming lawns fringed by tropical gardens and royal palms that seem to hide and protect you from the rush, The Royal has been able to maintain its 5 star genteel quality. Here is a tip: Pass on the very pricey ocean view rooms. Instead, take a quiet room overlooking the tropical gardens, we prefer the first floor. Spend your days on the private beach and in the warm aqua water, but retire to the quiet of the garden rooms. We purchased a package, air and hotel[...]. The Royal immediately upgraded us to a larger room and threw in breakfast everyday, and we never even asked. I think I had eggs benedict three times, after the fresh pineapple, of course.Look for Lucia in the Surf Room when you go in for breakfast and give her a hug for us.We hope to make The Royal Hawaiian an annual event.

Hawaiian Vacation

First off, if you're driving then it would be best to get a nav system with your rental because the hotel can be difficult to find. However, it was exactly as pictured on the website: old style, elegant, and most of all "quiet". This was one of the quietest hotels I've ever stayed in which was a refreshing change from listening to loud bratty kids roaming the hallways or noisy neighbors through the walls. Check-in was easy enough and the staff was very top-notch and friendly. They serve this little concoction during check-in that exclusive to the hotel which was refreshing after an 11 hour flight. I kept trying to get them to tell me what was in it without success but it was really good. The valet service was idealic especially since we were on the go at a moments notice and they got to know us by name very quickly. You're in the middle of Waikiki, so shopping is NEVER a problem. They also have tons of restaurants to choose from. However, being an extensive traveller I've always found that the best food is always found far far away from the tourist traps. Therefore, Anna Miller's in Pearlridge is your best bet for breakfast. Their service is FAST and excellent and they have the best strawberry pie on this planet. Also, when it comes to tours, you can either book through the hotel or various other agencies in the area and they will pick you up directly from the ALOHA LANDINGS located just 3 minutes away near the Sheraton. All in all, this was the best trip me and my two teens have ever had and I will definitely be staying at the Royal Hawaiian again on our next visit.

All around great hotel!

The service is fantastic and the location is prime. The only knock I could give them is that they don't have a really great system for getting a beach chair and umbrella. It's first come first serve and you have to get down there by no later than 6am if you want a good chair. Not much of a complaint all in all.

The Pink Palace of Waikiki

The hotel grounds and staff are superb, and it's the best location in Waikiki. The beach area at The Royal Hawaiian was the cleanest of all the areas in Waikiki. If possible, I would not stay anywhere else in Waikiki.

Really expensive dining options at hotel + the menus are quite limited. But, this is not a reason to not stay at The Royal Hawaiian, because it is located among the most popular area of Waikiki with the most number of restaurants around.
