Amazing location right on the beach, next to high end stores and shops and 4 star restaurants everywhere. Service was fantastic, just loved the beautiful old world feel to the hotel. A perfect spot for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or even families Mele Kalikimaka & Mahalo!

Five Stars? Yes!
If you like being treated like royalty, then stay at the Royal Hawaiian. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for and this hotel is worth every dollar. The first two days of my visit were spent at the Aqua Bamboo, yes, it was much cheaper but not a pleasant experience. [...]If you like premium location, spotless rooms, professional staff and a beautiful setting, do yourself a favor and stay at the RH Hotel.

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian
We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in January 2010. We have wanted to stay at this hotel for many years and we were not disappointed for one minute. It is truly gorgeous and the staff are wonderfully attentive. Everything was perfect and having fulfilled a dream, we are now ruined as far as ever wanting to stay anywhere else in Honolulu. We would recommend this hotel for couples.

The Royal Hawaiian
An excellent hotel right in the thick of things in Waikiki. First class service, a large room and it was right on the beach. Still, I could not understand the gunpowder smell that permeated the hallway where my room was located.

Unexpected surprise
The hotel was nice, but the rooms were very small. They had been updated, but the bathtubs were still old, chipped and stained. We had to book two rooms because we were traveling with three children and both baths were not great. The best thing about the hotel, was an unexpected surprise. The hotel had overbooked and wanted our rooms, so they bumped us to the Sheraton Waikiki in an ocean front suite. The suite was gorgeous and that hotel was much more kid friendly.

Royal Hawaiian - Eligent, Warm, Friendly
Top rate friendly staff looking for every way to make your stay enjoyable. This grande old hotel built in 1927 is reminisint of days gone by and recently remodeled and updated with today's conveniences. An enjoyable stay. Only complaint would be the night time noise from the surrrounding streets if you left your windows open for the fresh tropical air. Double paned windows helped considerably. Everyone should stay here at least once in a life time.

Oasis of quiet on the beach in Waikiki
Stayed just six days. Very relaxing public areas with minimal amenities. Very pricey compared with nearby neighbor hotels. Fitness center not on site but at the Sheraton next door. No alcohol allowed on the beach, even within the confines of the hotel's private beach area. (Not a city or state rule, just the hotel policy and they seem to love enforcing it). Concierge virtually useless. When asked about a reserving a Gazebo at the 4 star restaurant on property I was told, "we have nothing to do with the restaurant, you have to talk to them. I asked specifically for a view of Diamond Head from our tower beachfront room and was put in the only rooms in the tower without that view. From all of that you would think we hated the place but we didn't. The location was perfect. The hotels on either side had amenities we did use such as the Rum Fire beach bar and fitness center at the Sheraton (which is a huge convention hotel full of typical convention groups, and Duke's restaurant and activities desk at the Outrigger on the other side. Great beach for people watching and beginning surfers. Great shopping if you like the Beverly Hills mets Maui street atmosphere. So, bottom line, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel has a great location and classic old Hawaii ambiance in the midst of bustling central Waikiki beach. If you want quiet elegance here you can have it if you are willing to pay for it.

Royal Hawaiian - Nov. 2009
Was upgraded to a full-suite at no additional charge. My little girl had a great time just running around our room --very happy with that. Upgraded televisions very nice. Walls were a bit thin as we could hear other guests talking around 1 AM. Generally friendly and professional staff. Were some exceptions though. However service was poor at the Surf Lanai restaurant. Staff seemed disinterested and unfriendly. Client service desk also seemed more like telephone operators than a service desk; after I explained I wanted to get a bell boy to get my bags and have the valet bring the car around, the desk person told me to repeat my request after they transferred me to the valet station. A little more is expected at a luxury hotel.
