Beautiful Hotel

The hotel was recently renovated and is eegant and beautiful. We did have 1 problem with ants in our room but we were quickly relocated to another room. The staff was friendly and couldn't be more helpful especialy the doormen and the hostesses in the restaurants!

Royal Hawaiian not so royal

When you pay a rate of $200+ one would hope that the room would not require to have the lights on during the day.

Fantastic Hawaii getaway

Although the pool was small, the Royal Hawaiian is situated on the beach and a large pool is not necessary to enjoy oneself. The Royal Hawaiian is a very beautiful hotel - top of the line. The staff are very kind and the rooms are gorgeous and spotless. The garden view is beautiful. The hotel sits in a perfect spot close to all of the stores. It is close to many restaurants. I really enjoyed it! Room service was also superb!

Hawaii vacation

Laying out at the beach was good; however, you needed to be at the resort's beach at 6:00 am to get a chair, because people would send their kids to save as many as they could, and sometimes never show up. There needs be some changes there. Making the resort non-smoking would be a plus. The location of the resort was very convenient, because everything was in walking distance. I have been at better resorts that are not too crowded.

All expectations met -- fantastic fun!

The hotel is beautiful & historic, unique amidst towering hotels on all sides. Once inside, one could really appreciate its real charm, wonderful bones & class. The flowers and decor were amazing. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. This is one of the loveliest hotels that I have ever vacationed in. We did witness quite a few rude guests both at the beach and at the coffee station in the morning--claiming beach chairs at 5:00 A.M. and not returning for hours thus causing others to have no place to sit. (Maybe they should rent the chairs like many other hotels on the beach do so as to discourage this behavior?) Or, guests barely giving the server time to set up coffee before swarming him to be the first in line. Very odd to see in a 5 star hotel: people that don't know how to behave with class. Admittedly, the kitchen staff was slow to refill the urns and the wait time was often longer than one would expect. Still no excuse. All in all, we had a wonderful experience at the Royal Hawaiian, & I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Didn't want to leave and can't wait to return!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Talk to the staff about where the locals eat, then take a cab there. It gives you a great sense of the community and Hawaiian life. Also, walk over to the food court in the Royal Hawaiian plaza for a snack or inexpensive lunch, then splurge on dinner.

All around great hotel!

The service is fantastic and the location is prime. The only knock I could give them is that they don't have a really great system for getting a beach chair and umbrella. It's first come first serve and you have to get down there by no later than 6am if you want a good chair. Not much of a complaint all in all.

Honolulu a piece of heven

The Royal Hawaiian was a clean and beautiful hotel. It carries a flavor of Hawaii because of its color theme. The staff is not very friendly but not rude either. I recommend the Maui Island over Honolulu any time.
