Away from Waikiki

Hotel was nice but if you book a road-side room in the front of the hotel you will not sleep. Seems to be a very popular club in the hotel that empties onto the street at 4:00am...NEVER heard such screaming, yelling, things thrown, etc. The hotel said they get a lot of complaints and they moved us higher but it was still unbearable. If you can't get poolside you will have a problem...especially on the weekend.

Great Hotel

My experience was pretty awesome at the Modern Honolulu. It's location is nice because it is on the outskirts of Waikiki, in which you don't deal with all of the obnoxious people and noise and can walk to the main strip in about 10 minutes. The rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Valet parking was $28/day which was a little more than some of the other hotels we were considering, but wasn't that big of a deal. The pool area was nice, only downside was an ok outdoor bar area. The drinks and appetizers were expensive and not that large in size. There is a happy hour from 4-7, which helped. I would say that the best part is Morimoto being located in the building. We ordered some sushi and cocktails and it was AMAZING.

Business getaway

Hotel was very nice. I had work daily on the north shore and The Modern Honolulu was an easy in and out each day. Close enough to all the action of shopping and the beach but just on the edge so I was not bottled up with the traffic down near the other hotels. Relaxing by the outstanding pool was a plus. Great pool, great service.

Terrific value for any traveler(s)

Location is ideally suited to the knowledgable traveler that needs no gps assistance. If quirky one-way streets drive you to easily be confused, take a taxi to this excellent version of a "modern" concept. The ambience is pointedly European in nature, albeit with an adaptive flair that embraces the local culture while presenting a subdued, yet professional characteristic. The kitchen's room service menu offers a delightful fruitbowl ($26.95)that presents a mini-smorgasbord of fruit varieties, including local and exotic, -sparingly, one-two of each. Lots of grapes & pineapple! . The rooms with proximity to the elevators may need an additional sound barrier for some light sleepers, but #820 was worth every penny! I actually booked through Orbitz and am totally satified. Thank you, for a delightful hotel experience. Do make sure that the desk is fully aware that you have not checked out yet while you are at the pool at 11:30 am (BTW, it's a VERY nice pool & bar).......

pretense without quality

Under its previous name, The Edition, we stayed in this horrible hotel. Don't bring kids, because they aren't welcome here. Don't plan on sleeping because the windows are paper thin and it is extremely noisy all through the night. Don't plan on being treated like a valued customer, because you aren't (eg. the lounge beds are reserved $$$). Don't plan on enjoying a functional hotel room because the designer sacrificed function over "wow" everytime (eg. wooden blinds between bathroom and hotel room, meaning no privacy whatsoever, wooden floor to celing window blinds blocking your non-view). I would not return here if it was free!

Wow, what a place!

Everything from the front desk to the towel staff at the pool was wonderful.......First time in Hawaii and what a welcome we received from the staff.....The locaion was convient and the concierge service was right on the money with all their infornation.......The room and view were beautiful. The bed devine and I loved the furnishings.....The nightime maid service was a little inconsistent. But always provided plenty of clean towels .....The day staff did a great job keeping the room neat and clean..........We enjoyed our stay at The Edition and would recommend it to friends and family......5 Stars from us.
