Designed in the tradition of a classic plantation home, The Veranda is a taste of old Hawaii. The comfortable lounge overlooks the Dolphin Lagoon with a choice of both indoor and al fresco seating amid the lush, tropical dĆ©cor. Large, upholstered chairs are perfect for lingering over a cocktail or just escaping with a good book, as palm leaf motifs and island-inspired furnishings transport you to a tropical oasis. Afternoon tea is a tradition, after a long day spent sunning, swimming and exploring. In addition to an assortment of 13 hand-blended Hawaiian teas, we serve homemade scones with clotted cream and preserves, pastries and other confectionery. But at night the ambience changes as our live jazz band take to the stage and The VerandaĀs intimate dance floor becomes a popular choice for a sophisticated evening.

The menu has been expanded to include an exotic variety of new dishes, such as Slow Braised Kahuku Pork Belly, Pancetta Crusted Onaga, and Salt Crusted Rack of Wisconsin Lamb, served tableside. The cuisine is fresh, light, and innovative. Ingredients are a mix of fresh locally grown produce and imports from abroad. Hoku's has a breathtaking beachside setting with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every table in the multi-level dining room. Also competing for guest's attention is the open kitchen featuring fiery hot woks, a kiawe wood grill, and tandoori and wood-burning ovens.
- Plumeria Beach House

It's an ideal choice for casual dining, quiet meetings and cocktails at sunset, like our famous Mai Tai and specialties like Mango Madness or the popular Lava Flow. In keeping with the restaurant's promise of keeping things fresh, the dishes are updated seasonally. The expanded a la carte menu features new items such as Watermelon and Red Onion Salad, Chilled Hawaiian Seafood and Kiawe Grilled Tomato Bisque and BBQ Kurobuta Pork Chop with Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Buttered Hawaiian Long Beans and Pineapple-Mango Salsa.

Can't imagine staying anywhere else!
We originally booked a different hotel and were excited about being right in the middle of Waikiki. We didn't realize how lucky we were when the original hotel overbooked and our travel company had to upgrade us to the Kahala! We were disappointed at first to be outside the city, but once we got there we decided we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The location is just BEAUTIFUL (you won't experience anything like it in Waikiki). It's peaceful, you have dolphins right outside your room, a private beach (with food/drink service that comes to you while you're relaxing in the sun), and you get treated like you're truly special. And when you're ready to go to Waikiki for shopping, food or drinks, all you have to do is hop on the shuttle - it's so easy and really isn't far at all! Also, our room was amazing! We stayed in the Dolphin Wing, and our room was huge! We were on the first floor (mountain/golf course view) so we had our own private patio, perfect for coffee in the morning. Our bathroom had double sinks, a garden tub, stand up shower, and two closets. We soaked as much of the Kahala in as we could while we were there and are already looking forward to going again in the future : )

I really liked the hotel. Having its own beach was great and it was fun looking at all the dolphins stingrays and tropical fish. This was my first trip to Hawaii. The food was so so.

Kahala just beautiful
We were looking for a relaxing quiet beach with excellent dining, and found both at the Kahala. Especially enjoyed lunch on the beach, and the calm water. We never had trouble finding a comfortable private lounger and the beautiful setting is undistracted by crowds or noise- just lovely! The beds are especially comfortable, best we have experienced in many travels. Many nice touches- like popsicles and smoothies on the beach, fruit drink in the lobby, and free shuttles to malls and Waikiki.

Wonderful and luxurious resort!
We were impressed with the personal attention paid to the guests. A fresh lei and mint-scented face cloth to refresh ourselves upon arrival. Offers of ice water and smoothies while lying on the beach. Delicious food offered in the restaurants. We were very impressed with the Kahala Resort and definitely plan a return visit.

We really enjoyed the dolphins and the care that the trainers took with the people that swam with the dolphins, especially the children! The buffet breakfasts were very good and had a great variety! The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Welcomes you to Hawaii with open arms!
I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and accomodating each and every staff member was. From the moment we arrived it really set the tone of our entire trip! We came to relax and forget about the real word for a week and thats what we got.The only negative i can think of is that the extras were a bit expensive, ie beach chair/towels and parking. But overall i highly recommend.

Short drive from hotel
Definately eat local. There are many places to eat in wakiki beach area, such as Ocean House in the Outrigger hotel was quite good. A must is to eat at where the locals eat, such as Haili's on palani Ave. A taxi driver recommended it and we were glad we followed threw on it. make sure to ask for Hazel as she was very knowledgeable on all aspects of Hawaiian cuisine.
