Perfect Location! Great price!

LOCATION: The best part of the stay is definitely the location. The hotel is located right across the street from the beach (literally a 30 second walk) and a beautiful park. Another great part of the location is that it is not totally surrounded by other hotels, which helps the view and the privacy. The ABC store is right downstairs for convenience, right next to Starbucks, and down the street a bit is Teddy's Burgers (best burgers on the island). ROOMS: The rooms are small but decent. My girlfriend and I didn't plan on spending much time in the room, since we would be off on adventures or at the beach. The bathroom and shower was small, bed was comfortable, and the balcony was solid. We had an amazing view of Diamond Head and the beach/ocean after paying for an upgrade (definitely worth it!!). The only negative thing was that on certain nights, the Tiki bar downstairs had live music and you slightly could hear it in our room. ACTIVITIES: We went and hiked up Diamond Head (which is an extinct volcano), which only costs $1. It was a good workout, and provided some amazing views of the island. Next we did a dolphin adventure, where we got to swim and play with dolphins, lots of fun! Next we went on a dolphin/whale watching, and snorkling tour, which was great! We saw lots of dolphins and whales, and the snorkling was decent (not that great compared to Australia, Fiji, or Mexico). I was able to do plenty of surfing, which is only a few minute walk down the beach (to rent boards). Unfortunately, the surf is very crowded, but you can expect that at any popular surfing spot in the world. Finally, we did a Pearl Harbor Tour, which was fairly disappointing since we had to do so much waiting around for buses/shuttles and boats. Overall, a great trip! I am a world traveller, who cares more about the experiences, rather than luxury and being waited on hand and foot. This hotel is perfect for people who go for a great location, modest and comfortable hotel, and to save money on the hotel in order to spend it on other fun activities!

Park Shore Waikiki

Upon our arrival when we checked in, they did not have the room which was originally guaranteed in my package. She put me in a very small room with a king size bed. I was traveling with two teen-age boys so she offered me a roll away which was very small and hard to accomodate anyone over 5 feet. She mentioned to come down the next morning and ask for a double bed room. We had to check out of our small room before noon and had to wait until late afternoon for another room. When checking back on the availability time, she said that the room they were moving us to just came up for maintenance and she would have to upgrade me at no charge. They gave us an oceanview room on the 8th floor (821) which was a gorgeous room compared to where they had originally housed us (1016). The room was clean, however, air conditioner barely worked and early afternoons the room would get a little warm. Overall, the stay was great and I would recommend this hotel to others.

Hanauma Bay Snorkeling is great. Recommend going early as for the lines get long and you must wait for entry. Diamond Head - skip the hike up the mountain unless you're really into looking at dried up scenery and ocean overlook. Halona Blowhole - wonderful to view and I found Koko Head much more interesting to view than Diamond Head. North Shore - definitely take a ride up and plan to picnic on the beach and watch the surfers.

[...] overcharged me

Hotel was old and not what I expected. Nice view of the garbage in the alley from our room. Very outdated and in need of serious updates. Not all that clean. [...] charged me 111.77 per room on an advertised rate of 98.99 and the hotel said their rate was only 87.23 including taxes.

Good Location, but in need of updates

I chose this hotel based on multiple reviews from multiple sites and decided based on the reviews and pictures that the hotel was a nice looking place to go. The location was AWESOME! It backs up to the Honolulu Zoo and Diamondhead and has a bodyboarding (boogieboarding) only area right out front and a little lagoon for those who just want to wade in the ocean, all just steps away. It was close to great restaurants and convenience stores, which was great. Unfortunately, the room was tiny and in need of updating. The paint was dirty and had streaks all over it, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the molding was damaged and i could see rust in some places of the floor and ceiling. The maid we had was very nice, but the rest of the staff seemed indifferent to any requests we made. In addition, we heard all sorts of noise from the alley between this hotel and it's incredibly close neighbor, the Aston Waikiki, mostly delivery trucks and staff on breaks, but it goes all day and all night long! The balcony was big enough for my big toe and even if i had wanted to sit out there, there was no furniture to do so. Lastly, the bed, wow, i could feel every single srping in the mattress and it was old enough to have a tilt to the side so that i perpetually felt as though i would roll off the bed. All in all, if you're looking for somewhere to put your luggage and never see the room, stay here. If not, and you're looking for a nice romantic spot or just a room you can relax in, pay a bit more and stay in a higher class hotel.

Go to Bike Hawaii and ge tthe Bike, Hike, Sail and Snorkel package. They have fabulous guides and the views are truly spectacular! Even though there hadn't been much raina nd the 200 foot waterfall was more of a trickle, it was awe inspiring and the journey there was even better than the destination. The biking is downhill, with some stunning views and a great deli lunch. The sail and snorkel is great too...we got so close to a Sea Turtle i swear i could've touched it (but i didn't)! :-)
