Package price vs. Hotel Standards.

When we got there they assigned a view to city, but it was on the 3rd floor, with a window viewing the roof to the next floor down. We request transfer to another room and we were moved behind the elevator and didn't sleep all night , sounds like we were on the NY Subway. Request transfer for the second time, hotel staff were friendly to our requests tough.

One of the worst I've stayed in

One of the worst I've stayed in. You have to pay (alot) for everything, fitness center, internet, business center. I'm suprised I wasn't charged to use the elavator! The facilities were in margenal condition. The pool, well I've seen bigger hot tubs, the sun deck was cement with a couple loungers, very poor. I would not stay here again.

Extreme Disappointment on Waikiki

I thought the pictures were misleading and the rooms were extremely bland. The beds were so horrible we didn't even stay the extra night. The bathtub had rust in it. The view was great but because it wasn't directly on the beach all you could hear was the loud music from bars below and the street noise - not relaxing. The pool picture was very, very misleading - it was only a lap pool. Would not recommend anyone I know to stay at this hotel.

Worst service. Honeymoon ruined!

Worst hotel ever! The same day we arrived we were not informed from before they were also having a winter formal event for high school students and the whole high school was really there. We were not even offered bell service and had to wait forever for an elevator. We get to our room and see they gave us two queen beds and when we went to tell them we needed just 1 king they labeled it as upgrading our room. When it was time to sleep we came to the worst part of the hotel the beds were horrible. The springs were so loud and we woke up with back pain and in consequence to that had to invest $150 to get a massage which only helped for the day of and back to pain the next day. We go to complain about the beds and they tell us there is nothing they can do and they try to give us breakfast coupons for just 2 of the days and act like they were giving us the world. After 4 sleepless nights we were so unhappy we decided to try to complain again and they tell us not to worry now they will try to pad the bed which we were informed that they have already had numerous complaints about their beds. We felt a little better til we go to our room and see there is a man holding a thin blanket expecting to pad a bed. We laughed and turned down the unhelpful repair.

Bed bugs and missing clothes

The Pacific Beach Hotel has records of what rooms have had bed bug issues, so I would suggest travelers here ask for the history of the room. If you have to do laundry on your vacation because they gave you a bed bug room, assume that someone is watching and waiting to steal your clothes. My husband surprised me and my daughters to a long weekend reunion in Honolulu at the Pacific Beach Hotel. We were placed on the third floor of the original tower. Both rooms were old, with dorm quality mattresses, very dingy, and one shower didn't drain, while the other's nozzle was broken. One room smelled similar to a rest stop, the carpet was wet and stinky. Maintance came up to unclog what they called the "sewer drain" in the bathroom floor and told me I had been smelling sewer gas. After their clean-out the odor remained. The next morning at 6 am, my daughter awoke me with "I think there is a bed bug in my bed right below my face". Sure enough the room had bed bugs. Apparently this room was treated 10 days prior to for bed bugs and they were still there. The hotel moved us to another room in the newer tower and offered medical care, laundry and sprayed the luggage. After a day on the beach we attacked the bed bug issue by doing all our laundry and having the hotel spray our luggage inside and out again. (They use a 70% alcohol spray). Since we were only in Hawaii for 72 hours total I was very disappointed to waste my vacation time doing laundry, filling out security reports and changing rooms. While the laundry was in the machine, we left it for 10 minutes to get more change from the front desk. When we returned to the laundry room the washer was still running, but during that time, someone helped themselves to 8 tops and one pair of shorts. After we realized clothes were missing we went back to the "bug" room to see if we left the clothes there. The room was stripped down and a dish with dead bugs floating in some type of liquid was in the middle of the room. Terrible. So once again we met with security to complete another report for the missing clothes. The hotel wouldn't do anything about the clothes but offered us free buffet breakfast instead. They further suggested we contact the Honolulu Police Department and file a report-- which would have been a waste of our time and Hawaiian tax payers money. The hotel elevators are right off the street with no security or card keys needed to access guest floors. At 10:00 at night they lock those street doors, but for the most part security safe guards are missing at this hotel. The room only has the standard lock on the door with no inside bolt or chain. We placed the ironing board against the door as added security. tip: if you have bed bugs or other room related issues, take pictures and document. Ask for copies of security reports and make a file.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Henry's Place Fruit Stand for fresh fruit, muffins, sandwiches and sorbert. It is on Lewers street, between the Outrigger Reef and the Hard Rock Cafe. Henry's is one of last standing fruit stands in the heart of Honolulu, the fruit is cut fresh all day long. Henry and his friends are the real Aloha!

The good, bad and ugly

No frills hotel Reliance on excellent location to beach Hotel has very outdated room facilities with very poor...plumbing and bathrooms. Bedding and towels were of atrocious quality Pool is a joke Distubing to see the large numbers of homeless and unwell people ever present outside the hotel night and day. All this in a society of such affluence

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at in Hawaii

The hotel refused to honor the buy one get one free breakfast special that was sold through Orbitz. Not one hotel staff member was helpful. There was hair and mildew in the shower when we checked into the room. At the conference I attended there was black piece of plastic covered in mud mixed into the tossed salad that was served and none of the staff looked clueless as to what to do. They continued to serve the contaminated food to the guests. The banquet room ceilings were black with dirt and mildew. This is the worst hotel I've been to in Honolulu with lousy customer service. NO ALOHA!!
