A local favorite in the heart of Waikiki across from the beach

Comfort meets convenience at Pacific Beach Hotel, one of Waikiki's favorite, locally-owned hotels. Find yourself in the heart of the action on famed Kalakaua Avenue and across the street from the best swimming and sunning stretch of Waikiki Beach. More than 800 rooms offer island-style relaxation and remarkable ocean views. The Pacific Beach Hotel is one of only a few Waikiki hotels with a tennis court and the three-story, 280,000-gallon indoor aquarium is a trademark attraction.

Highlights
  • SNUBA dive with more than 70 sea creatures in the hotel's 280,000-gallon aquarium
  • Tennis courts with tennis pro on staff
  • newly renovated 24 -Hour Fitness location onsite

Dining

Even locals line up at Oceanarium, the hotel's signature restaurant. Surrounding a 280,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, the restaurant attracts visitors as much for the views as the extravagant island-style brunch, dinner and weekend buffets.

Location, location!

If location is important, Pacific Beach is it. But because of its great location, be prepared to withstand "street noise" from cars and trucks, including early-morning service trucks, buses. Sometimes there's noise in the halls becuase of inconsiderate guests, but that's life. Hotel is a bit pricey for its offerings, but that's Waikii for you! Restaurant buffet that was $45 is a great deal, especially for seafood lovers.

Family Vacation

This hotel is in a great location. The beach is right across the street. There is an ABC store located with the hotel. There is a fantastic restaurant in the hotel that has a huge aquarium as a backdrop and they put on a show twice daily when feeding the fish. The rooms were serviced daily with clean sheets and towels. There is a place outside the hotel that sells danish, pastries and drinks through out the day. Most pick up for tours is located right outside the hotel. The Bus (public transportation) is one block away from the hotel. Everything is within walking distance. The staff was very pleasant and always willing to make everything good. My Mother is handicap and the entire hotel was wheelchair accessable. This hotel was great. We will definitely be staying at this hotel in the future.

Good Location & Staff

The staff are very freindly and very helpful. The huge aquarium in the resturant in the hotel was fun to watch and got see see someone scuba dive & feed the fish while there (we never ate there but could see the tank from the lobby area). The location was very good (Waikiki beach is just across the street & we were able to walk to many places, such as the zoo).Thre was even some musical entertainment on the beach most nights (free). The buses & trolleys are handy & reasonable in price. The transit staff are very helpful to get you to your destination, like mini tour guides. All of Waikiki felt very safe. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only draw back was the walls are thin (but most of the guests were quiet at a reasonable hour), we could hear conversations in the hallway to the rooms (some of this could have been avoided if people used their "inside voices" more) & some noise from the next door rooms. But when all was said and done, it was a good place to stay. "Mahalo" to all of the staff at the Pacific Beach hotel!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

If your plan to do any tours, luaus, etc...go to the tour guides in the hotel (the ones that DON'T pester you often on the street! # the prices are good and the staff is helpful and will address any problems you may have # we had none, but "Tina" was more than willing to help if we needed her # . Heard that the street ones were not helpful when a charged for part of the tour was not open, it had been closed for two+ weeks # would not refund or help the groups with concerns ) . If it sounds to good....avoid it!

Mother daughter vacation

The hotel was in a perfect location directially across from the beach. The hotel staff was great!! The beds were hard, but not horrible. The pool was tiny, but who needs a pool when you're right across from the beach?!! There was a decent size hot tub and laundry facility on the fifth floor. The $28 a day parking sucked!! I thought that was rediculous!! I would stay here again, you can't beat it for the price!! Also, I strongly suggest buying at least the 3 day Go Oahu card you can purchase while booking.....it's worth every penny!!! If you need discounts to anything not included with the card, use the agency across from the corner store in the hotel lobby...I got the best deals from them. Oh, the zoo there was awesome...go!!

If you walk down The street just outside the hotel (it's Prince something) on the right side of the street there's a little restaurant down some stairs that has great steak and chicken for about $13. I recommend going there....we loved it!!

Sisters meeting of the minds

We were delighted with our room, it gave us a great view of Wikiki and the beach. Close to many shops and restaurants. The staff was very helpful with all of our needs. We would stay there again. Was disappointed that there was no wifi, but a local restaurant was very helpful.
