A local favorite in the heart of Waikiki across from the beach

Comfort meets convenience at Pacific Beach Hotel, one of Waikiki's favorite, locally-owned hotels. Find yourself in the heart of the action on famed Kalakaua Avenue and across the street from the best swimming and sunning stretch of Waikiki Beach. More than 800 rooms offer island-style relaxation and remarkable ocean views. The Pacific Beach Hotel is one of only a few Waikiki hotels with a tennis court and the three-story, 280,000-gallon indoor aquarium is a trademark attraction.

Beach across the street

Had a great view from motel and a seven iron walk to the beach. Wish we knew about parking costs, never would have rented a car which we hardly used. Over all we had the best time and a great vacation. Motel was great, area was great!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't rent a car for the week, We only used it twice. Better off to rent by the day if you decide to travel out of town. Everything within walking distance and free trolly's and buses for touring.

Disappointing

It's inexpensive, a great location right on Waikiki Beach and the staff was very friendly, but unfortunately, those are the only things this place has going for it. The check in line is very slow and long. It took us almost 45 min. to check in with about maybe 15 people in line. When we walked past the lobby later there was a line of over 25 unhappy people. The hotel is very old and outdated. It is reminiscent of a bad hotel in Downtown Las Vegas. Rooms are gross and you are lucky if they clean it for you everyday. Our room wasn't even cleaned one day and we had to ask for clean towels. Our curtains were ripped. Not a pretty sight to say the least. The $25/day "amenities" fee is a joke. You get 2 bottles of water a day and a beach towel, WiFi and I believe there is a tiny pool on one of the floors not even worth checking. Our beach towels were never replaced with clean ones during our stay. They also charge $25/day to park your car there. With all of the fees, you are better off spending the extra money elsewhere. Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel and I don't plan on coming back.

great hotel, but we stayed at the 17th floor (at the high floor) just below the central air or something of central machine, that made a constant noise all night. Than.... if you check in a room in the high floor , ask to chnage.

Great Location

The location is great right across the street from surf breaks and rental boards. Partial ocean view has a nice view from the balcony. The buffet had great crab legs, the other food was average. Only complaint is the 25 dollars a day parking fee.

Okay for the price

While we stayed at the hotel we dined at the buffet to see the Mermaid show. The food was okay and the show was fun, but still felt like it was missing something. The pillows are basically just the case. No padding to them whatsoever.

First Oahu Trip

Just returned from my first trip to Oahu. I have to say that I was initially impressed with the location of my hotel. Directly across the street from the beach! That was pretty exciting. However, as I began to unpack in my room I noticed a few things. First, the sliding doors on the closet didn't work very well and made it seem old and outdated. Secondly, the staff had left the a/c on in the room which was nice, but it was turned down so low that I almost froze the moment I walked in the door. I turned it off and opened the patio door to help warm things up. This hardly seemed to help the frigidity. So I ended up having to call room service for extra blankets. They were prompt to respond though. Secondly, cleanliness in the bathroom was a little below average. While appearing clean, I noticed spots of age and/or mold along the ceiling near the shower head. Not the greatest feeling of comfort. And the tub didn't drain well at all. I told the front desk about the tub the next morning and they were prompt to have it fixed. Third, expect some "hidden" fees. They do charge for amenities, but it is not obvious what has a fee or what does not. For example, there is a sign by the coffee pot and tray that reads it is complementary for the guests. So I had a few cups of tea and used it in the mornings.... guess what? Having provided that courtesy has a charge. Then I did use the safe in the room, which did have a sign on it that reads $3/day for use if it is used. I figured that was okay. Last, the hotel provides wifi for their guests. When I logged in, there were several options and I chose the one that said no charge... but having that service available to guests?... yep, hidden fee. Those hidden fees came to $20/amenities. It would have been nice to have had that obviously stated before I booked the hotel. Bottom line, the hotel is great for location and cost for being directly in the midst of Waikiki beach. But if you want to feel spoiled and pampered, I would recommend elsewhere.

Great hotel experience

Very nice hotel, have everything that a hotel needs to have. The buffet dinner was great but it was a bit expensive. 45 dollars for 1 person, it has Alaskan king crab legs.
