Memorable stay in Waikiki

The location of the hotel right on the beach and close to Waikiki main beach was unbeatable. Every morning I would pick up a Kona coffee from the ABC store and walk down the side path next to the beach all the way down to west end of the beach toward Diamond head. The view of the diamond head from the lounge area was just spectacular against the turquoise water. I had an issue with the hotel staff at the Activities counter. She ignored the fact that i was waiting in line and took on another customer before me. I just felt that the Aloha spirit was not present in most of the hotel staff. For instance, when we checked in the staff at the front desk failed to mention all the free activities going on in the hotel like lei making class, ukelele class, hula dance class, it wasn't until by chance on the 4th or 5th day of our stay i happened to notice a poster on the wall. It would have been nice if the front desk staff and given us some overall information about the hotel, what's available or what to do...no Aloha spirit I felt. Other than that the Aloha spirit comes through the beauty of the land.

Perfrect location

This hotel has to be one of the best in Waikiki. Duke's and the Hula Grill were great for food and the view. The ladies loved the "Plantation Spa". The two rooms were in very good shape and comfortable. Our Grand-daughter and Daughter-in-law had a wonderful time. Will stay there again.

"Top of Waikiki" for dinner not worth the price. Much nicer meals at Duke's.

Nice enough

Nice enough if your just spending the day at the beach but you can find better beaches a lot cheaper on your own on the east and north sides of the island. Way to expensive and to many rules about cocktails. Not a cheap date.

On the Beach...

Terrific location with beach & surf feet away. Upon checkin, it would have helped if an overview of all amenities were verbally given. We felt like we were on our own. Front Desk (on 2nd floor Lobby Level)was not very informative when asked about TheBus or other transportation, she directed us to the Activities desk across from her. There was a separate activities counter on the 1st floor Lobby Level also. Somewhat confusing. We were told we had access to a hospitality room so we could freshen up or swim until our flight left if we wanted (checkout was 12noon,our flight left at 9:30pm)but when we went to use the room, we were given 30 minutes to use a small hotel room. Not enough time for 2 people to shower and get ready. Overall our room was clean, pillows were fantastic, shower/toilet area however was very tight (half bathtub/3ft wide w/shower). Our 16th floor balcony not curved like floors below but still had glimpse of ocean. We could have upgraded to oceanfront for $$ more but chose not to spend that kind of money. Hula Grill was fantastic in cost, service, taste & view of beach! Did not really care for Duke's breakfast buffet but lunch was good. Overall, location was fantastic.
