Overview

An honored recipient of the Hawaii Tourism Authority's prestigious Kahili Award, the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort offers free daily workshops taught by well-respected teachers of Hawaiian music, art and culture. The 16-story tower of the Outrigger Waikiki has been offering soaring vistas of the Diamond Head summit since 1967, and if you're a music fan, the Outrigger is a repository of artifacts and information regarding the bygone era of the Waikiki Beach Boys. Feast on prime American steak at Chuck's Steak House, or hang out at Duke's Canoe Club for live Hawaiian sounds every night, along with the freshest of Waikiki fish on your plate.

Location

Located right on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort is just minutes from the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. The Diamond Head Summit Trail is easily walkable from the hotel, while culture fans can get their fix of authentic Hawaii at the Honolulu Museum of Art, just over two miles away.

Dining

Does dinner at the nearby Cheesecake Factory or Jimmy's Buffett's Margaritaville sound appetizing? Ask the concierge to make reservations for you, since these popular venues are always busy.

Vacation to Hawaii

Would recommend Sat, Sep 5, 2015
I have stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki on many many occasions which is why I once again chose it for my family vacation. Let me also say that as a professional facilities manager, I understand the stuff happens clause as it pertains to large facilities such as this. That said, the place smelled like dead fish. Yes it flooded prior to our arrival, no that should not have been my issue nor did I get the memo on it. Our room, 1029, smelled like a cafeteria the whole time as well. After I got a good case of bed bug bites, I realized that the smell was likely caused by an infestation. Now, not all is lost, I get it. Stuff happens and sometimes all at once. Still love the place and would recommend it. We just had a bad run in a minor way. Everyone was VERY polite and the service was great! Heather, Tim, Asia and Brian at the upstairs grill were awesome and we spent a lot of time in there because of them. Breakfast at the downstairs restaurant named after a famous surfer CANNOT be beat and the ladies at reception took outstanding care of us, every morning! Check in was easy, valet was easy and concierge was outstanding! We crammed it all into our seven day stay with the help from these folks. They never let us down even on last minute planning. Yes, we will be back and I expect that statistically, everything will be back to perfect as I have grown to expect over many years of outstanding stays at this hotel!

Hotel is outdated for the 4 star rating. Bathrooms are small. Location and beach are very good. Restaurants are good, but over priced for dinner. Food selection is very small.

The right room in a hotel makes all the difference.

Would not recommend Thu, Jul 16, 2015
My room was on the N/E, and my sister was on S/E. Both of us had ordered a partial view. My view was mostly of the city but you could peek around the corner of the balcony and see the water. Mine was noisy from construction, traffic, and emergency vehicles. My sisters although a slight angle was straight on ocean, quiet, and amazing. The hotel said since I booked through an outside entity that they couldn't make any changes or upgrades, and then went on to say no other rooms were available. Also, the pool was tiny like a back yard pool, and you accessed it and the ocean through a dirty type of alley that was also a designated smoking area. I wouldn't stay there again.

Great hotel perfect location

Would recommend Mon, Feb 23, 2015
This hotel is in probably one of the best locations in Honolulu. The main part of the beach is at your footsteps and the international market is right across the street. The staff is very friendly and Duke's is in the hotel so it is great place to stay for all your needs. I would highly recommend it!
