Buffets were the best value and best meals we had. The restaurant on the beach were cheaper and better food than more inland. Cheese Burger restaurant had an excellent burger but we had inexperienced waitress that made for terrible service. She messed up the order and didn't apologize for it.

Great hotel!
My teenage daughter, her best friend and I took a "Staycation" in Waikiki just for the Spring break weekend. We loved the room. It was clean and comfortable, had a beautiful little kitchenette and dishes, glasses, utensils, etc. The only thing missing was a microwave, which didn't make sense to me. The view from the balcony (even though it was the 3rd floor) was great. It was a park view. Because there was a low-rise restaurant (that was closed/out of business) next to us and then park surrounding that, the view was great. We were quite a bit away from surrounding hotels. There were no other hotels looking right into the room if you left the curtains open. So we were able to leave the lanai curtains open all day and night until we went to sleep. There was a decent pool and a pretty nice fitness center. There was even a place to barbecue. We had breakfast at the little restaurant right downstairs, very quaint, and the food was pretty good. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The parking attendant actually made a tissue rose (that was really nice, by the way) and handed it to me when I returned to the hotel after picking up the girls. So sweet. All in all, we had a great time. The location was at the beginning part of Waikiki so it was relatively quiet compared to further down the street where all the wackiness occurs. Located very close to great restaurants and shopping. It's a little bit of a walk to the beach (meaning that the beach was not right across the street as the hotels in the noisier part of Waikiki) but still really nice. I would definitely stay here again.

no complaints
We were in Honolulu for 2 nites and 3 days, coming from Maui and ending our vacation here on Oahu. Booked this room online with a friend of ours, so we got a pretty good deal per nite by booking two rooms at a time. When we arrived, we were greeted by the valet who immediately and courteously helped us to our room. The room was tastefully decorated, featured tile floors (love!) and a great little balcony with a gorgeous city/ocean view. We were on the 8th floor so that wasn't hard to do. We went to see Pearl Harbor, to the beach several times and also up and down Kalakaua Avenue for dinner, shopping, etc. The hotel was right at the beginning of the 'strip' on Kalakaua and walking everywhere was super easy. We had a rental car but decided to walk so we could enjoy and take our time. They do have private secured parking but it is ONLY valet and there is a per day cost. Not a biggie, but FYI. Everytime we did get into our car, the valet staff was courteous, quick and careful. Very impressive. This was not a luxury hotel, but everything was impeccably clean, nicely furnished, and anything we asked, we were provided with. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a mid-price, well-located hotel in Honolulu! Mahalo :)

Great stay, great people!
We shopped, ate, went on different tours. We went hiking and swimming at the beach. We had a good room, beds and pillows were comfy. We had a 'fridge' and dishes and such. Next time we will get the room with a microwave, that would have been handy. Shower nozzel sprayed hard but the water was nice and hot. The only downfall of the trip was the unexpected $25 dollar a day fee for using there parking garage. We found out when we checked out. There was no mention of it in our terms and conditions on our [...] purchase.

excellent location
the reserved room was on the 6th floor, we asked at the check in for a room on a higher floor and the friendly staff put us on the 14th floor. From the east side rooms you'll enjoy a great view on the park and the ocean with no high rise obstructing the view. Kitchenette is very useful for simple meals. Walk through the paerk for about 5 minutes to the beach. Easy to walk anywhere and bus stops are close by. A perfect 10 day vacation in a great hotel with very friendly staff.

Wonderful staff!
This hotel had one of the friendliest staff I have seen. My family of three stayed comfortably because it was spacious. It was very clean and had a stunning view of the beach from our lanai. Waking up to the lush green scenery of Fort Derussy was great (right below our lanai). We were on the 12th floor and could see the Waikiki strip. Ask for the highest floor you can get. The only draw back I could think of is that we had no microwave. We had to go to the lobby if we wanted something heated up. It was convenient for those beach lovers. The hotel provided beach towels, beach chairs, mats, even boogie boards. I would definitely stay here again, but I would get a kitchenette with it next time. Parking could get pricey if you have valet ($25 a day). Good thing we used to live in the island or we would be racking up charges. Since we are military, we knew about Parking at Fort Derussy, and we purchased parking for $90/month which have two lots (plenty of parking). The covered parking is located just behind the hotel. All in all, I was very content with my 18 days stay.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you want to do everything all at once, it would have to be Ala Moana Mall. It has high and medium end shopping and money saving eatery. Don't eat upstairs, but go to the food court. You would be amazed by how many selections of food available. I have my personal favorite Asian store called "Shirokiya" which has different shops inside. If you're into Asian things--this is the store for you. They even have their own food court upstairs. I'm not a fan of the beach across the street and would rather drive for the local beaches.

Moderately priced, close to beach
The hotel was very nice and I liked the location. The reason I felt it didn't deserve five stars is because of the parking charge. For that reason alone I would be hesitant to stay there again. Besides that one concern I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It's not necesaary to rent a car since the hotel is near everything including the beach and shopping.

Good location...good value
Location was at the beginning of the strip and well within walking distance to Waikiki action but not in the heart of it all so it was a bit quieter. The room was very nice for the two of us but would have been a bit small for more than that. The hotel staff was great but the Valets were top notch...always friendly and extremenly helpful with directions and suggestions for dining and activities. And the restaurant was good (but a little pricey). The staff there was friendly and helpful as well. Only two negatives...the air conditioner fan was a bit loud and the housekeeping left quite a bit to be desired. Overall the hotel was very clean and beautiful but our room was never swept (in 8 days) and the trash was only emptied if it were set out in the middle of the floor. There was food in the fridge when we arrived. Oh yeah...no microwave in the room and you had to buy coffee for the coffeemaker.

Nice all around place
Great access to Waikiki and other destinations on Oahu. A little tricky entering and exiting the hotel and the only parking available is valet at $25/day, so budget accordingly. Otherwise, clean and comfortable.
