Comparatively good value
Just stayed for two nights in transit after a week on the big island, Hawaii. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The location is not too far from the beach. The room was aging a bit, but was clean and had a nice view of the city. It's not an upper-range hotel but is good value for the price.

good value
The hotel is at the start of the major street in Waikiki. There is a fair amount of road noises, even up on the 12th floor. Having said this, I did not find it a problem for sleeping. It's an easy walk to the beach, 5-7 minutes, to reach the edge of Waikiki beach, so it's not as crowded as the middle portion. Rooms are nice enough, no major problems. Valet parking cost $18 a night but the staff was the most helpful at the hotel. There is a small pool. One lady saved 8 spots when we tried to use the pool, which was about half the available space beside the pool. We never ended up using the pool after all. The hotel provided towels for pool or beach use. This saved having to buy our own since we did not pack any. Hotel provided a coupon book. There are more at the front desk and at the major roads. Look through them. We saved at least $30, and that's with missing out on using some coupons.

Professional, courteous staff !!
Luana's staff (from the friendly valet crew to maid service) provided for a very comfortable experience. Cool little cafe in front of the hotel overlooking Kalakaua with great service. The views overlooking Fort DeRussy and Waikiki Beach are incredible especially from the higher floors. Great centralized location for shopping, restaurants and a short walk through the park to the beach. Cosmetically the interior could use an upgrade or two but great stay for the buck. We'll definitely be back.

First trip to Honolulu
We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary which coincides with pearl harbor day.. we checked in and were amazed that we had a partial ocean view.. the staff was friendly and attentive... the room was equipped with a kitchen sink and refrigerator and real plates and cutlery and glassware. room was spacious with a small balcony with 2 chairs and table for drinks. parking is 18 dollars a day but if you are going to see the island a car is a necessary evil.. make sure you have a GPS as the maps that I saw of Oahu lacked detail.. our stay at Outrigger Luana Waikiki was very nice..

About what we expected
Outrigger Luana Waikiki was as described. It was only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach through beautiful Fort DeRussy park. It was also walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The choice of restaurants in the area was great. The room was comfortable and the bed was pleasantly firm. The staff was helpful and friendly. Parking was $18/day, which I thought was high, although it was customary for Waikiki hotels. Our sink drained slowly, but was not too much of a problem. The swimming pool was being repaired while we were there, but who needs a pool when the ocean is close by. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Pretty good
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The bed was soft and comfortable. Bathroom was clean. The kitchen included pots, pans, dishes, and utensils, but don't expect room service to clean them for you. Dollar car rental was a very close walk from the hotel. There's also a convenience store/gas station/moped rental next door. Our hotel was facing the street. Like other's who had a similar room location, you can hear the noise outside through the glass door to the balcony. It's more noisy during the weekends. We were able to sleep through it though. Overall, a pretty good experience.

There are booths that sell discount luaus and attractions near the beach. Check those places out to see any good deals. You don't need to go far for a good luau. There are nearby hotels that have luaus too.
