Island-style value and aloha at locally-owned Waikiki hotel

OHANA Waikiki West, a locally-owned hotel with plenty of island aloha is a favorite among families and couples seeking value and prime location. The hotel is situated two blocks from Waikiki Beach and surrounded by dining and shopping options. The souvenir bazaar, International Market Place, is located one block from the hotel. Some rooms have kitchenettes and all rooms offer plenty of extras, including complimentary Internet, area transport, newspaper, free local and U.S. mainland calls (limits apply), and OHANA beach tote.

Satisfied for the price

The location was great. Just a short walk through the International Market Place to get to Waikiki Beach. Mainly used the hotel for quick stops to shower and sleep. Chose this hotel in part because of the free internet access but the internet went down a couple of the nights I was there. Also, the free wifi is only available in the lobby. Overall, a good experience though.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

We spent most of our time taking local tours and shopping at Ala Moana shopping centre We found the hotel was to far from the beach.The hotel was adequate but definately needs a facelift.Staff were excellant.WHEN I RETURN I WILL DEFINATELY BE CLOSER TO THE BEACH AND MUST HAVE OPEN SPACE FROM BALCONY AS THE AREA WE WERE AT THERE WAS A LOT OF STREET NOISE

IF YOU LIKE A GOOD KOREAN RESTARANT , IT IS SITUATED ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE HOTEL AT THE ENTRANCE OF INTERNATIONAL MARKET(THIS NOT A LUXURY RESTAURNT BUT THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT )

Great vacation.

The hotel was old but was kept very clean and tidy.The customer service was great.Very friendly and helpful,called me by name every time i walked through the hotel.

Budget friendly hotel

Okay, this isn't a 5 star hotel, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. I went with my husband and two teen children. This is our 4th trip to Honolulu and we've stayed at some really nice hotels but this time around we were on a strict budget and had to settle for something cheaper. The hotel is dated but clean, its a blast from the 80's past and it smells like my grandmother's house but considering the great location, it was okay. It is great for families on a budget or a group of college kids who are taking that first solo trip. They gave us adjoining rooms with a kitchenette which can come in handy when strapped for cash. There's a small grocery store across the street but it is very expensive, might as well eat out at a restaurant. There's a trolley stop directly in front of the hotel.

A Very Good Hotel

Hotel was very nice. We got exactly what we saw on the pictures. People were very nice and friendly, it's a good location 10 minutes to the beach, a lot of restaurants around.

Enjoyable

As part of a package deal, this hotel was a good value. The lobby was presentable. The rest of the hotel (including the room) was dated but clean. Staff were friendly. Location was centrally located to everything--shopping, restaurants and shopping. The free shuttle was very handy.

It was all we needed

Hotel is right in the middle of everything in Waikiki. We were not concerned with getting a 5star for just a few days since all we planned on doing was being downtown for the New Years festivities. Location was perfect for just that. Close to restaurants, bars, clubs, and the beach. I would not suggest driving or parking here because parking is very limited. Upon check in, staff was very nice and helpful. The room itself was decent. Nothing special in the looks department. Bed was roomy but uncomfortable after two nights of sleeping on it (IMO). The TV and cable offering was severely hurting and in need of an upgrade. Most wall outlets were being used by lamps and other things leaving only ONE open for us to use to charge our things. All in all, the experience wasn't bad since it just served as a place to sleep and shower while we experienced life outside.
