Island-style value and aloha at locally-owned Waikiki hotel
OHANA Waikiki West, a locally-owned hotel with plenty of island aloha is a favorite among families and couples seeking value and prime location. The hotel is situated two blocks from Waikiki Beach and surrounded by dining and shopping options. The souvenir bazaar, International Market Place, is located one block from the hotel. Some rooms have kitchenettes and all rooms offer plenty of extras, including complimentary Internet, area transport, newspaper, free local and U.S. mainland calls (limits apply), and OHANA beach tote.

Good value family hotel
The central location and amenities offered at the Ohana West are excellent value for money, especially the FREE plug-in Internet in every room. Just a short one-block walk and you are right on Waikiki Beach! Having a kitchenette and being located right next to a food mart enabled big savings in food costs. The Ohana West is clean, comfortable, conveniently located and offers great value for anyone on a limited budget. Guests even have FREE access to a downtown trolley which serves the major local shopping mall. I would definitely recommend the Ohana West.

Great Deal
Within a block of the beach. Lots of shopping. Staff did everything to accomodate our request for a larger bed. We would certainly stay there again.

Bottles of water missing
On my last night at Ohana Waikiki West my 2 bottles of water disappeared. They were in the fridge at the night before. I reported to the front desk but she couldn't help because manager was not there. (Thought there should be a manager on duty 24 hours??) I reported to the manager again when checked out the next day. She asked me for the receipt of the water and gave me the fund after her calculation!!! I wanted water not money!!! Not good experience because of this.

Room was clean and had a refrigerator. No desk, so it was hard to use laptop. Had a very small bathroom. Shower was small and some of the tile was peeling.

...Not Bad
I've read several reviews on how bad this place is, but I honestly didn't find it to be that bad. Don't expect a resort-styled hotel, or even a general Marriot for that matter. You definitely get what you pay for, but the value was good. $20/day parking is very unfortunate. I hated that. And, no room service. Also, VERY outdated, old looking rooms. HOWEVER, I wasn't in Hawaii for a top-tier hotel, and if I really wanted one, I would have upped my hotel budget to get something within that realm. I simply wanted a place to sleep, change clothes, and have decent hotel service that I could depend on. This had all of that, and a great location too. It's on Kuhio Street, which is the secondary strip in Waikiki, and just a block down from the main strip. PLENTY of amazing things to see and do. Also, 'Cabanas' was an OK hotel bar, with some nice staff. Not everyone (sorry to say). I really enjoyed Mark (I think that was his name) and Casey. REALLY nice people. They actually improved my time there whenever I went to the hotel bar. Next time I may stay in a 4-5 star hotel or resort...however, if I decide to watch my pennies again, I can think of no better place to do it while still having a great experience than this cool hotel-Ohana Waikiki West!

Entertainment tip:
In Hotel
DO NOT RENT A CAR!!! It is a money drain to pay the hotel's $20/day parking fee. It doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're there for 2 weeks, that's almost $300.00 that you could spend elsewhere...especially when you don't end up using the vehicle...which I didn't. No car really needed in Oahu.

Excellent location
It was a nice surprise when my family and I found out we were so close to everything. We were right across from the International Marketplace, close to many restaurants, within walking distance to the beach and next door to the food pantry. We loved our location and would definitely be staying at this hotel again in the near future.

Good location!
Just a corner away from Wikiki Beach. Across the street in front of the hotel, we found a market place where hundreds of souvenir shops and a food court can be found:-) And at the side of the hotel, there is a supermarket where we used to buy some foods to cook in the room. In the room, there are a microwave, some plates, silvers, a pot, a pan, a refregirator, and two stoves.

Honestly, I didn't expect much, I don't know why. But then I was surprised by size of the room and whole kitchen and dishes in it! Everything was very good, room was clean, staff was good, location is realy good... The only thing I didn't like is that there was no door between room and sink in the bathroom, though there was one for shower and toilet.
