Wonderful time

We found the location really suited our needs as we like to walk as much as possible and were able to reach the beach, restaurants, shopping etc., with no problem. The staff were very cheerful and helpful with any enquiries and we liked the fact there was a security officer patrolling at night. The room was bright and spacious and the fact that we had windows on two sides delighted us.

If you are into Chinese food, Fatty's Restaurant provides great value and freshly cooked food at a great price. A 'No Frills' type of eatery.

Standard Stuff

If you like staying at a place that is clean, affordable, and located in the middle of the action, then Ohana East is a good choice. The rooms were clean and moderatly furnished. The TV was an old CRT, but we did not go there to watch TV. The shower was standard size with lots of water pressure and volume. The bathroom sink was small and did not hold all of my wifes stuff. The pool area was nice. The spa had the biggest back massaging bubbles I have ever felt. It felt and sounded like a big base drum massaging my back. We did not eat at any of the restraunts at this hotel.

As a guest of the hotel, you get free access to the Pink Trolley, a bus that will take you to Ala Moana shopping center with several stops along the way. You can hop on and off at any stop. Can be very convenient.

Great Location...Left Much to be Desired

This hotel has a great location, but needs quite a bit of updating. Our original room's balcony could barely allow one person to stand out there. We upgraded our room to a Penthouse Suite and by no means was it a Suite - there was a pull out couch - just like our original room had - and only ONE bed - whereas our original room had TWO. The best part of the Suite we upgraded to was the balcony - it was HUGE. The beds are incredibly UNCOMFORTABLE. Rooms were clean, needs some updating, the "free internet" was down in the rooms therefore the lobby was always crowded and not an ideal location to get things done as that was the only location you could get the free internet from during our entire stay. And not a single staff member informed us of the Free Shuttle available for us to use. Though the staff overall was nice to deal with.

Good location but poor quality.

It was kind of cheap so i didnt expact that much but it was way worse than I expacted :( Hotel front desk lady wasnt friendly at all....almost rude to me when I went to the desk to check in and out! and our room had a tiny tiny shower..I shouldve booked the hotel I had last time I went to Hawaii.. Their information desk lady downstairs is too busy to soliciting time sahres in Hawaii! Dont ask her for informations around she will follow you around! I will never go back to that hotel :(

Glad I only have one more day here

On check in the staff was less then happy as if it were a problem to check in. The room was small and clean, however like most everything else in this hotel needed repairs. The internet, NOT. The free internet in the rooms does not work and after talking to one of the staff found out it had not worked for some time. The lobby internet is limmited, and when you have half of Asia on it, it is impossible to get on. So you left to pay extra for local internet access. As for other things, the pool ladder felt as if it were about to fall into the pool, the jaccuzzi was hooked up backwards. the jets did not work and there was bubbles coming outof the suction grills, like the hoses were hooked up backwards. Over all if they fixxed the things that are falling appart on this hotel it would not be bad to stay at, but at this point if I could have changed hotels I would have.... Oh yea if you have a choice, Maui is a way nicer place and would go back a millon times if i could.....

for business trips stay somewhere else

This was a business trip and I chose Ohana East since they advertised free in room wired Internet access. What a mistake it was. Out of nine days Internet was working in the room only once for less then a day, after calling multiple times to tech support spending hours on the phone and asking for help at the front desk, I finally gave up and used wireless in the lobby, that I should admit worked all the time, but what an inconvenience it was !!! My advice if you need Internet stay somewhere else !

Excellent for the price!

We found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. The bellhops helped us navigate the City bus and figured out our routes for us in advance. The hotel is central to a ton of restaurants and only a couple blocks to the beach. The room and bathroom were small, but comfortable. The housekeeping staff does a great job keeping them clean. We would definitely stay there again if we ever go back!

Chuck's Cellar is the best restaurant with the best service and food that we have ever experienced! We didn't go there until our last night and were disappointed that we wouldn't be able to go back a second time on our trip.

Convient location with a great staff

The terrific staff at Ohana East makes up for the dated decor, worn carpet, broken sliding closet doors and chipped paint. The hotel is only 2 blocks from the beach and TheBus stops are conveniently located to take you to all the must see attractions on Oahu.

You can negotiate the sale price with shopkeepers at the International Market Place and Duke's Lane. Don't pay the ticketed price.
