awesome experience

There were 4 of us and we expected to be in one room with 2 beds and we were given a Penthouse on the 19th floor with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and big balcony. We felt like we had won the lottery. The staff was great. Would recommend this hotel to any one going this area.

Great location

Check in was easy and the rooms are clean. No issues. The showers are small is the only down check with the room. If you are parking, expect a $25 per day charge. WIFI was include and worked with no problems.

Business overnight

I recently(Apr 2014) stayed at this hotel for one night while on business. The staff were very nice and helpful. Room was a little small but totally fit my need for one night and I wasn't even in it most of the time. The hotel is in a pretty good location as you can walk to about everything in Waikiki. It is also close to area nightlife. I would visit again.

Perfect for a Hawaiian getaway!

Long story short--when you're in paradise, you don't need a fancy schmancy room. For real. YOU ARE IN HAWAII! The only reason why we were in the room was to sleep, change and shower. For reals. That being said, it's a bare minimum room. What was awesome was our housekeeper (I wish I remembered her name--HUGE Shoutout to the lady on the 11th floor from 3/26-4/1!), free wi-fi and location. Yes it's true you just get a small "stand up shower" but let's be real...who REALLY takes a full on tub bath in a hotel bathroom!? (well, unless you're in a fancy 5 star jacuzzi style tub of course!) Really fit our needs and loved the fact that we could use a hospitality room to shower before our 7:00 flight without having to pay for an extra night. I would have given this a full fledged five star review if it hadn't been for the skeevy guy (and women) trying to hard sell EVERYONE on time shares. If you have a concierge for activities, it should be just for activities. If we wanted to sign up for a skeevy infomercial time share program, we'd do it in other places in Hawaii.

Paper thin walls

Nice location and inexpensive. However, the walls were paper thin. Needed my earplugs the whole stay. Room was clean and housekeeping staff was kind and polite.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Hula's Grill near Duke's restaurant has big $7 Mai Tai's during happy hour and excellent meals for $10-13. I'm talking super fresh fish and chips or quinoa burgers, and with an ocean view.

Interesting..

Though my stay at the Ohana East was nice,I thought it was weird and frustrating to have to use my hotel card in order to make the elevator work. Have the time the card would not work and I would miss my floor. I think this type of security is uncalled for.

Conveniently located

There are multiple grocery stores and restaurants very close by, and the outdoor bazaars and Waikiki Beach within a couple of blocks. Ohana East provides a trolley pass that can take you to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. If you're driving it's easy to drive all around O'ahu from the hotel.
