Old-world elegance on Waikiki's hottest strip
Graciously residing on prime oceanfront, the Moana Surfrider is a vision of luxury and relaxation. Opened in 1901 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the "First Lady of Waikiki" boasts a long registry of the rich and famous, including Frank Sinatra, Amelia Earhart, Prince Edward of England and Joe DiMaggio. Afternoon tea on the seaside veranda is a celebrated tradition. Trademark Westin amenities, fine dining and one of Waikiki's best spas create the total package.
Highlights
- Westin's Heavenly Bed, Heavenly Bath and fine linens
- Spend the day relaxing in the hotel's picturesque and historic banyan tree courtyard
- Moana Lani Spa, ranked as one of the Top 50 Spas by Spas of America
Location
The hotel touches the sand, with some of Waikiki's best swimming and surfing directly offshore. It's midpoint along Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki's main dining and shopping strip, and the designer-boutique Royal Hawaiian Center and lively souvenir bazaar International Market Place are within a block's walk.
Rooms
The hotel features three distinct wings with a total of nearly 800 guest rooms. All rooms blend classic design with contemporary decor enhanced by luxurious Island-style details, signature Westin amenities, bathrobe and flat-screen TV. The Westin Heavenly Bed is a major draw, with custom pillowtop mattress and snuggly feather pillow. In-room Wi-Fi is available (fees apply).
Dining
Several excellent dining selections are on the property. The Veranda, overlooking the banyan courtyard, offers a buffet breakfast, while afternoon tea is a tradition dating back to the earliest days of the hotel. From midmorning until midnight, sashimi, wagyu beef burgers and mai tais are on order at the Beach Bar, beneath the historic banyan tree. Luxurious couples stopover
Only a short stay but we wished it could have been longer. Luxurious rooms with comfort in mind - quite possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever experienced in a hotel with decadent linens. Staff were great, restaurant food exceptional. The room was a little small - compact but bijou! We will definitely be back and recommend it.

Holiday in Paradise
Location Location Location, The Moana Surfrider is in the perfect location. The main attraction is the beach which is beautiful, even more so if you are sitting under the magnificent banyan tree sipping a cocktail as you watch the sun set over Waikiki Beach. It is this sort of magical moment that turns a holiday into a life time memory and to experience this in the old world charm of the Moana Surfrider Hotel was something special. The hotel is within easy walking distance of other resort hotels located on the beach front. If that is not enough there are shops and restaurants located along Kalakaua Ave which is right at the front of the hotel, and if you need to go future afield there are numerous trolley buses that run into the evening to get you around Waikiki and Honolulu.

The hotel location is great. The ocean view from our room was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable. I think the rooms themselves could use a facelift. The decor was boring and minimal.

Hawaii Vacation
We have stayed at this hotel several times before and it is such a wonderful place we keep coming back everytime we come to Hawaii. The facility is centrally located to everything and it is staffed with very friendly and helpful people. The rooms in the tower are spacious and the "heavenly bed" is very comfortable. We will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to Hawaii!!

Hotel is just beautiful. We were in an ordinary room that was nice. The pillows were very uncomfortable. And you could hear the people on either side of us sneezing, whispering, etc. To get a chair at the pool was almost impossible so you would have to spend some $ and rent an umbrella in the sand. Also I would suggest they get iPhone clock radios for charging peoples phone as well as being a clock. Beach is just beautiful but small.
