Maile Sky Court
I stayed for 5 nights and consider this hotel a good budget option for your Honolulu stay. Close to everything in Waikiki and easy walking distance to Ala Moana and Ward centre shopping malls. Room was simple but OK. Overall good value for your money.

Always book your car rental online! this will save you a lot of money compared to walk-in at the rental offices in Waikiki. I was quoted US$ 50,- at National for a 1 day rental and got it for US$ 17,- online!

best value in honolulu
had a great view of diamond head and the ocean from my room that you can't get from most moderate or much higher priced hotels. Not fancy or right on the beach ( but close) and you can use your considerable savings for other things.

My favorite!
Not only is it one of the most affordable hotel stays in Hawaii but its clean modern and just welcoming. I feel safe, I can depend on the staff to help me with my needs & I love how they have a little "kitchen" in the rooms if you request. The hotel is in the begining of Waikiki so when you want to shop you can start from the begin to end and won't miss a thing, it is also only 5-10 minutes away from the beach, 5 minutes away from all the shopping stores & 1 minutes away from the closet ABC store :)

You get what you pay for
If what your looking for is an inexpensive, close to the strip room this is the hotel for you. The staff here are great! they are very friendly and informative. The hotel is just two blocks down from the strip and only a few blocks away from restaurants, parks, huge outdoor mall and of course the beach! On the other hand the rooms need some major updating. Carpets def need replacing, it made the room smell and feel stuffy. I did not mind so much because i spent no time in the room. Overall I would say i paid for what i got.

smelly and old
This hotel needs to replace all the carpet with tile. The carpet, especially in the hallways, is very smelly and old. During check in we had to show ID's for all the people in our party which made us feel like we were "teenagers on spring break". We also had to put down a $50 deposit. I guess that's the kind of clients they are used to.

nothing special
The room was very small for 2 people to stay in, the shower would change temperature during the shower and sometimes be scalding hot, I'm pretty sure its possessed. The hotel hallways and elevators were about 132°, and the elevators were kinda sorta slow. But if ur looking for an affordable place to stay, have fun and shower while you enjoy the beaches/outdoors of Hawaii this should do just fine. Just don't expect the hotel to impress your significant other, your gonna have to do that on your own.

Great location, rude staff
Desk staff at check in was fine, line for check in was disorganized (not really a line, just looked like it). Check out gal at desk was rude, had no time for the customer. Bathroom dirty, carpet ripped & dirty between bath & bedrm. I'm sure there are better choices on Waikiki

You will Miss the little things, but the price is right.
We spent a week at the Maile during our first visit to Waikiki. The value price we paid was most definitely the highlight of this hotel, as it was very very reasonable. We had an ocean view on the thirty-something'th floor. The spa was hot and the pool was cold... but the little things one is accustomed to were missing. There was not coffee service in the room... oh there was a coffee pot, and the first morning, we perked and drank the coffee provided... but it was never replenished, and the used grounds/filter never removed (until we did it). The mattress was very very very firm... ok, it was hard as a brick. The pillows are spartan by any measure... we each ended up sleeping on three pillows. Small rooms, small bathrooms with tub that was slow to drain... but I have to emphasize that we didn't go to Hawai'i to sit in our hotel, so these were really just observations for contrast sake (except the coffee issue... that was aggrivating)... the value price was the best part. Oh, and don't bother with the resturante, it is miserable.

Kudos for Improvements
I have stayed at this hotel several times because of the price and the location. I think it is a good value and I do not need more than a basic room. When I visit Honolulu, it is for work or rest which take me away from my room for the most part. At times, the AC has been noisy and/or the fixtures in need of repair. This time, everything worked well. The AC unit was new and quiet and the room met my needs. I appreciate the helpful staff, the availability of parking (for an extra fee) and the location.

Short drive from hotel
I have found that ethnic restaurants in local strip malls outside of Waikiki are the best deal for food. Eating in Waikiki is overproced and tourist-oriented.
