Great place for those on a tight budget

Not a good place if you're flying in on odd hours. They do not have 24 hr front desk service. The room is very spacious. The room had a Murphy bed which hides in the wall. There is a night club next door. So if you're a light sleeper, this is not a place for you. The location is very convenient. Restaurants, bus stop, convenient stores are all right in front of you. Only about 2 short blocks from the beach.

Perfect location... Could use some minor upgrades

The location was perfect... Walking to the beach. Night life action was great. The rooms could have been a little more up to date. The tv wasn't plugged in... Lol no iron... Other than that. It was ok. Thank u also, no maid service came to clean...

amazingly noisy and a bed like concrete

I had read other reviews that said that the Bayan Club was noisy, but for $70 a night at the last minute, I went with it. Noisy doesn't begin to describe it. The studio timeshares sit right on top of a night club, so it's loud well past 2 a.m. Then the garbage trucks (plural) come by every morning except Sunday, starting at 6 a.m. I thought the fold-down Murphy bed was cool, until I tried to sleep on it. It was no different than sleeping on the floor. Lastly, lock your door: the cleaning staff waited no more than 5 seconds between knocking and barging right in!

Shopping tip: Not Applicable

If you're in the market for aloha shirts, forget the tourist shops. Take the bus to Bailey's Antiques. They have 10k+ used/vintage shirts starting at $10.

Good location

Excellent location, right in the middle of all the action. Very loud at night though, surrounded by clubs. And prostitutes hang out right across the street. Good deal for the money.

Very mediocre experience

Upon arriving to the Hotel, we were first taken by its location - next door to a very loud, trashy club and many prostitutes. Our flight had taken longer than expected and we arrived after the office had closed - the door was locked. A security guard informed us that we needed to have called ahead of time if we were to be arriving late -[...] He proceeded to tell us that in order to be let in, we had to pay a cash-only non-refundable fee of $45 despite the fact that the room was paid in full weeks prior. Unable to go anywhere else and receive a refund for the hotel, we were forced to pay the $45 dollars to check into our room. After sifting through emails and links, I finally found the policy hidden on their website[...]The room claimed to sleep upwards of 4 guests (which we had), but the room only has one bed. The two couches had twin mattresses beneath the cushions, one of which had to be pulled out from under a table. Needless to say, it was a good thing we were all friends - it was a tight squeeze to get us all in there. The staff was mediocre, friendly on occasion, but nothing special and after charging me an extra $45, I was expecting at least decent service. The maid service only came around once in the 5 days we stayed, which was not expressed to us either. The maid told us that because she came around on Friday, that was all we got. The room was a cluttered mess by the end of the weekend and we had to request towels and toilet paper on more than one occasion. The only redeemable qualities were the kitchen, complete with burners, fridge, microwave, toaster, plates and utensils and it was very close to the beach. We were also allowed to stay in our hotel room an extra half day as our flight leaving HI didn't leave until 10pm. Other than that it was a very disappointing experience that was extremely frustrating at times. I will definitely not be returning to the Banyan Club and I urge you to ignore the decent price and move down the street for only a fraction more.

Don't stay here

Bed folded into the wall, leg was broken and needed end tables to hold it up. Cleaned the room and changed the towels just once a week. View to a roof next door. Very noisy and hard to sleep.

For the price and location it

For the price and location it was great. I thought the bed was alright but my husband couldn't sleep on it. But he was very happy on the sofa bed. Large fridge and great places to eat close by. ABC shop accross the road bus stop out the front.

We stayed in studio apartments

We stayed in studio apartments which had very basic kitchen facilities, but with two adjoining apartments for 4 people we managed to cook meals. The location was very good, near the International Marketplace, and car parking was available at a nearby hotel. The biggest problem was the noise from the street, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. The rooms need to be double glazed, at least, as we hardly slept until the noise finally abated in the early hours of the morning. It sounded as though there was a party going on under our window.

Pleasant Surprise

We couldn't find anything else at short notice, and we are glad because this place was better than we could have hoped for. Clean, friendly staff, the room had a mini kitchen in it too which was great. The beach, restaurants and shopping were all within walking distance. This will be our first choice next time we are in Waikiki.
