Iconic harbor-front hotel on the edge of Waikiki
The Waikiki landmark, Ilikai may look familiar. The iconic hotel is featured in the opening of the original Hawaii Five-0 series. Look out across the beach and lagoon, cityscape and mountains or sailboat harbor from the hotel's spacious rooms, some of which have full kitchens. Situated on the edge of Waikiki, take a short walk to local restaurants and bars, Hawaii's largest shopping mall, spacious beach parks and the Hawaii Convention Center.
Highlights
- Accommodations with a full kitchen available
- Exotic views of the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon from oceanfront rooms
- 24-hour fitness center and outdoor swimming pool with sundeck
Location
The Ilikai's location is perfect for travelers looking for something beyond the Waikiki experience. Situated on the western edge of the district a few steps from Waikiki Beach and a short walk to Waikiki's best shopping and dining, you can also walk to Ala Moana Center, Hawaii's largest shopping mall and unofficial town square. The vast Ala Moana Beach Park and the Hawaii Convention Center can also be reached on foot.
Rooms
In space-starved Waikiki, Ilikai offers rare oversized guest rooms starting at 600 square feet. A two-bedroom suite offers nearly 1,200 square feet. Many of the rooms have full kitchens and all feature a balcony, plus free high-speed Internet access. Rooms on the ocean side of the hotel have stunning views of the beach, lagoon and sailboat harbor.
Dining
Take advantage of the hotel's partnership with Island Grocery Service and have your groceries waiting in your kitchen upon arrival. Dine 30 floors up at Sarento's, one of Waikiki's best Italian restaurants for dinner. A block away, the modest diner, Wailana Coffee House, is a budget-friendly favoriteRecreation

Perfect couple vacation
The room was very spacious our lanai opening was about 8 ft across and we left it open 24/7. We faced the marina so enjoyed the sunset every night from our room on the 24th floor never needed the a/c on temperatures were perfect. The restaurant was under construction but I think they still served lunch and dinner on the patio. There was a fridge and microwave in the room so we did breakfast in the room and elsewhere when we were out. There is a man giving dollar coupons to a pub for breakfast and he stands right outside macdonalds across the street, for $6 you get a full breakfast at harbor pub right in front of the marina. Good value for Waikiki There is subway as well right across the street as well as walking distance to the mall and the food court(most of the food is Asian. But there are a few American type food places) Downtown Waikiki has a Chilis and Cheesecake Factory. The hotel is located at the beginning of Waikiki beach so it's a little quieter and not crowded which was perfect. There was a ramp walkway to the beach which took you right out in front of the lagoon. The beach and water was a little rocky right there but just walk past the Atlantis dock and the water is a little better. If you look to the west of the hotel you will see a park and another smaller swimming area on the other side of the marina. The water is very calm because it's protected from the open water and its not really rocky and would be perfect for families with small children. The people staying right in Waikiki beach wouldn't even know this place exists. Waikiki is about a ten minute walk or you can take trolley for $2.50. But honestly traffic is so busy you could probably outwalk transportation. Also there's a shortcut to the Waikiki shopping strip if you just walk to the Hilton Hawaiian village and cut through that park across the street you are right at the beginning of the strip. The grounds at the hotel are beautiful. They are soon going to be making some changes around the pool and patio and opening it up more so there's a better view of the ocean. The pool is heated and fine for just doing some laps. Small children will need floatation devices as it is a standard type pool with a shallow and deep end. Lounge chairs are very nice. Get them early as it is quite a popular spot. This is such an iconic hotel due to being featured in the original Hawaii 5-0 series. I will definitely stay here the next time I go to Hawaii the upgrade to oceanview was well worth the extra $20/night

Eleven days in Paradise
Our wonderful visit to Hawaii centered on the Ilikai hotel. Technically, the Ilikai isn't actually on Waikiki; it's on the waterfront of the small boat harbor. [That's a "good thing" because you have all the amenities of the other hotels but you have more privacy.] The hotel dates back to 1963. That might seem to be a fault, but the hotel went through a massive restoration just two years ago. The result is a modern hotel with 60s-era sized rooms - perhaps 3 times the size of the newest hotels - providing living space without feeling like you're in a Motel 6. Try it. You'll LOVE it!

If you've watched the Food Network, you'll have heard of Matsumoro. One of his restaurants is so close that only a swimming pool separates the Ilikai from "The Modern".

Great Vacation
We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and viewing the sunset. My husband enjoyed walking on the beachwalk without having to walk blocks to get to it. The bus stop being just steps away from the hotel was a wonderful thing. We enjoyed the whole experience.

Good hotel with very good location
Overall I like the hotel and especially the location because the beach is just across the street ... the room is comfortable and really clean however the need to start to renew the rooms and especially the bathroom ... For those who is planning to rent a car they can park their car just behind the hotel and it is way cheaper the hotel parking ...

Oahu first-timer
Very large room, very clean and well decorated with nice, comfortable furniture. The furnished kitchenette and comfortable couch and chair made staying in the room quite enjoyable. I wish I had had more time to stay here. Our view of the beach and of the hotels and lights of the night were awesome. While walking in the area, it is EASY to spot the aqua panels on the hotel in order to find your way back. :)

A Great Stay
We shared a great experience at the Ilikai. Our first trip to Hawaii was rewarding and the location of the hotel made it perfect. We rented a car but was able to walk to many of our destinations. An older hotel which made it incredibly special. I would stay at the Ilikai again!! Did I mention that it was quiet.

Service is top notch here!
This is my third trip to the Ilikai in the last year. My daughter lives only a few blocks away which is why i chose this spot. It is on the peaceful end of Waikiki but within walking distance of great shopping and dining. The cafe downstairs is wonderful. The wait staff is so friendly and always greeted us with warm smile. We love jazz night (Tues) at Sarento's Top of the I. Food is great and worth the price.

Great place to stay in Ala Moana.
I enjoyed staying here. It is close to Ala Moana Park and walking distance to Waikiki. The only thing I didn't like about the room was that the TV was too far from the bed.
