Disappointed
Get away for four females, two first visit to Hawaii, money was a little short, however disappointed in the room and hotel. Busy street and you heard sirans all night/day along with traffic. The tub was horriable, chipped and old. Small room with two beds, the door would bang every time you opened.Just a very old hotel that needs a lot of TLC. No ice machine, after first day you had to buy your coffee in room, had laundry room, however you had to go to store a purchase laundry soap, no machine in hotel. Compared to other hotels I would pay the extra money, was disappointed.

Not a Good Place
It may be cheap, but there are a few things I didn't not like including A/C was barely blowing cold air, I got bug bites from sleeping there, the bathroom looks filthy, and parking lot for hotel guest was 18 dollars.

worth the money
the room is very small, only a double standard bed, update to queen need more money. Cleanliness is acceptable. Location is convenient. Walking distance to Waikiki beach. However, it is one of the cheapest hotel I can find in this area in Honolulu! So, it is a nice choice for budget travel.

Pleasant stay again!
We have stayed at the Hawaiian Monarch several times. If you expect frills and pampering, stay elsewhere. The staff are always excellent. We stay here because the rooms have always been clean, not big or fancy, and the rates are the best in Waikiki! We will stay again when we come to Oahu to visit our family and extended family on the island. We do not spend alot of time in our room, mostly to sleep and shower.

room for improvement
This hotel was a good deal for the price however there are several things that would help to make there star value increase. The staff were great and very helpful. There is no wifi unless you rent one of their modems. There is no ice machine and the change machine they have for their laundry room was broken. Our biggest annoyance with this hotel was the problem with their water temperatures. When using the shower the water constantly would fluctuate in temperature. This became very painful as I was sunburnt and the temperature would go up drastically then drop back down. It was very unpleasant.

Cheeseburger Waikiki had the best bacon cheeseburger. Far superior to even the Hard Rock Cafe's burger. The price was also fairly low.

Emergency stay
I stayed at the Hawaiian monarch hotel because I had a family in ICU at the nearby hospital ( I flew in from outer island). Staff was friendly, and did everything they could to make my stay comfortable. I wasn't on vacation so I didn't need an expensive resort. It suited my needs, and would probably stay there again.

horrible hotel
This hotel doesn't tell you that there is an extra $16 fee a day for parking so be prepared for that. Internet set up in lobby didn't work, customer service didn't have soap for laundry, coin machine was broken in laundry room & bed in room was terrible. The boxspribg must have been broken in the middle because is sagged badly! Felt like I was laying on top of my husband all week. The only thing good about this hotel is the location. I would NEVER stay here again & wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

Don't rent a car if you can help it. It's very hard to find parking in Honolulu unless you want to spend a lot extra for parking garages.
