Comfortable-ish, but Watch out for Surprise Fees

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks in February of 2013. We had a king suite that included a pull out in the living room, along with a full kitchen. The king bed was comfortable, the pull out was tolerable (had to sleep there for the first night as I was sick), the kitchen was fine, and the living room's seating was tolerable but fairly uncomfortable (hard couch and chairs). The hotel's location is almost perfect: it's only a two block walk to the beach and definitely less expensive than the hotels right on the water. The hotel's maid service was fine, though the hotel doesn't offer room service of any sort. However, my biggest problem with the hotel was the surprise $15/day mandatory "amenity fee" they charge for internet and a daily paper. Though the hotel's details page lists it not, it didn't back when we booked. For two weeks this was a significant extra charge, and a very unpleasant surprise, too boot. Overall, this surprise has soured me on the hotel.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

None of the food in Waikiki was amazing, but Tiki's was probably the best (the bar area, not the dining area, which had a different menu). Excellent drinks menu and the live entertainment was fantastic.

Good Location

All Staff: Front Desk Clerks, Security, maintanence, parking attendant & Conciere needs work. Guests should always be greeted when they walk in and out of the Lobby or anytime but instead staff was always more interested in looking at the computer or looking away. No gym and pool was not heated. Mt View Deluxe Room & size was nice and roomy. Kitchenette was perfect to help with cost of meals. Laundry room needs 1-2 more sets of washers and dryers. Overall the stay was ok. Location was good. Just a 5 minute walk to the beach and to the Waikiki Strip.

Not worth the money

Hotel was old, beds very uncomfortable, spent lots of time waiting on elevators. Free DVD and PS2 games were mostly scratched and didn't work. Pool and tennis courts very average and closed for construction during our stay. Main bright point is location. Very easy to walk to beach, dining, and shopping.

OK

We like the room lay-out and the kitchen amenities. The location was excellent - close to shopping, dining and of course, the beach. The room was cleaned once during our 6-day stay. The bathroom amenities were only supplied at the beginning of our stay. We did not get the extra towels we requested.

Would be nice had they not closed out our balcony due to remodel

We visited it in April 2012. The hotel is undergoing remodel. The entrance is surrounded by sky folding and does not look great. However, it’s quite nice inside the room with fairly new granite counter top and range oven. The living room and bedroom also nice and clean and fairly new. Now come the bad parts. There is a daily $10 fee and you get Internet, coffee pod, and DVD rental in the lobby. But you need to use cable to get online (hello, we are not in 90’s) but no wireless in the room. So all your devices won’t work. They also closed out the balcony, the quintessential tropical living space, due to remodeling. In two of the days they painted the balcony floor and the room/ hallway smelled really bad. I think they should refund part of the hotel charge because part of the living space is not usable at all.

Hawaii vacation

Rooms are very cramped. Kitchen utensils are almost non-existent. Coffee which was supposed to be provided daily had to be requested.

Fun Family Getaway

It was nice to have a place with a kitchen. It is very beneficial to have a kitchen when you are traveling with young children. We did not have to figure out where to go for breakfast each morning which saved us a ton of time. By the end of the day the kids are tired and are not good company if we take them to a restaurant it would have been torcher for everyone. The hotel is in a great location. It is close to the beach and we walked to the beach everyday.

Family Friendly

Reviews that I read before my trip complained about the elevators. They were absolutely right as it always seemed we were waiting for an elevator to arrive....one day I waited 15 minutes. Parking is also very tight, i.e, narrow and I can see why people there are so good at reversing into the stalls. Remember that parking is additional cost per day. I got a standard room which could use some renovation. Convenience store in the hotel is very expensive and places to eat are at least a couple of blocks away. Hotel staff are very friendly.

Beach is couple of blocks away as is the zoo and aquarium. Dining and shopping a couple of blocks as well. Hotel is at end of Waikiki so auto and tourist traffic not as congested.
