First time to Honolulu and it was great. We knew the rooms were small, but they were nicely decorated and clean. We ... upgraded to a ocean view when we arrived. Housekeeping failed to pay attention and replace the toilet paper & tissues which we had to go get ourselves. The valet service was also extremely helpful. The location is Fabulous! We would stay there again and recommend it.

A nice hotel but noisy
Pat Nov 19, 2009
The hotel is at the south end of the strip. It is nice to walk both directions. The shops are one way and the park, homes and ... then ths cliffs the other. The bar at night is very loud and kept us up sometimes until 4AM. That was a major problem. I think most rooms would be affected by the noise especially pool side.

Oceanview depends on where you are in the hotel. They claim that Oceanview applies to all floors above the 15th, even if you ... are looking at the hotel across the street and have to lean way over the balcony to even see part of the ocean. As for the complimentary breakfast, could have had more choices and better fruit! The Tiki Lounge offered some of the best pupus, meals and drink specials of all the restaurant/bars on the strip. Good prices and great music!!!

Elevators Fixed!!!
Together4ever123 Nov 14, 2009
Vacationed October 15- 23, 2009 My husband & I were very pleased with the hotel. Best location for the money!! We were in ... room 1919 on the 19th floor. Some previous reviewers complained about the elevators not working properly. They are fixed. You just pass your key card over a terminal and you are asked which floor. Punch in your floor and the terminal shows you what elevator (A-D) to get on. If you try to punch in a different floor other than your own, you will be denied. Great security measure. There is a band in the Tiki Bar every night so it can get loud from 7-11 if you are on that side of the hotel. Just bring earplugs. The view in the morning made up for it. Bring a good pair of walking shoes. Zoo, Aquarium, shopping, restaurants within walking distance. Most excursion companies pick you up curbside or it is a short walk to an alternate pick-up spot. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by renewing our vows on Waialae beach, went to the North Shore and cage dived with sharks, visited Polynesian Cultural Center, Took the Home of the Brave Tour (Pearl Harbor), walked to the zoo and aquarium. Make sure to look at the coupon book you are given at check-in. We saved some money using it. Check-in and out were fast and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed entire hotel experience!!!

The Breakfast on The Beach was Good. Served 6:30-8:30. Coffee available at 6:00 Saved money every day. We took extra and put it in the refrigerator for when we had an early excursion or were just to lazy to get out of bed! Lots of variety, danish, fruit, cereal, milk, coffee, juice, yogurt. For a fee there was one hot option like French toast or waffles. Lines can get long early but they move pretty fast. If a station is crowded, just move to another. I wish they would have whole fruit offered like apples, bananas or oranges so you could take them with you and enjoy them during the day.

Hawaiian Music At 7:30AM?
Charlybro Nov 13, 2009
We've stayed here twice. The first time we had an Ocean Front room in the front of the complex. This time we stayed on the ... 6th floor overlooking the pool. WARNING: Do not stay on the side of the hotel overlooking the pool unless you absolutely want to wake up precisely at 7:30 am to Loud Hawaiian music. Mind you that this is after falling asleep to Loud Pop & Hawaiian music that plays roughly from 9:00pm to 12:30am. Its now called The Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel and basically its a good bargain for the price. But here, room location is everything. The other non-recomended section our friends stayed in is higher up in the building facing the same direction as the pool (basically facing the hotel across the street). It was super noisy from roof air conditioners & street noise. So this is a great place if you can afford an Ocean Front room, or get a room facing Diamond Head.

1 hour away from Honolulu is the Waimea Botanical gardens. A great shaded stroll/hike that ends with a waterfall and pond you can swim in. Refreshing and fun. Also the food there was unusually good.

A Great Stay at the Aston Waikiki!
Bobby & Kristy Nov 11, 2009
My girlfriend and I were very pleased with the Aston Waikiki. First and foremost, the extra money we spent on an Ocean View ... room was well worth it...to wake up in the morning and see the ocean breaking toward the shore is just simply amazing!! Our room was large enough for the two of us to store our things as well as move about). The ocean view balcony added to the space we had available to us. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Excellent nightlife with Tiki's right there in the hotel (We truly enjoyed the food!!) with live music the nights we were there. There are also plenty of places to eat around the hotel ranging from sushi to American fast food to local Hawaiian food. Shopping is a short walk away and the beach is right across the street. If we had a chance to stay there again, we definitely would!! A very highly recommended hotel for those couples looking for a great hotel on a budget.

Take advantage of their free Breakfast on the Beach. My girlfriend and I saved so much money on food by filling up at breakfast and stocking up on cereal, fruit, and yogurt to snack on throughout the day (the rooms comes with little refrigerators to store the perishable things). Because of this we ate less throughout the day and shared meals instead of buying two separate meals. The hotel gives you little coolers that are great for taking breakfast to the beach!!
