5 stars you have to be kidding

After a 5 hour flight all you want is a nice room. Upon arrival in our room the air conditioner was not working. We waited a few min for the maintenance man to come and he reset the thermostat. My son used the bathroom just to urinate and when he flushed the waste water came up in the bathtub. We were on the 22nd floor. Only other room available was on the 9th. No apologies no compensation for the trouble nothing. We get to the room and it was not the cleanest. Hair in the bathroom is a huge turn off. I brought clorox wipes and cleaned up a bit and made it work. The toilet paper was more like tissue paper. Great for packages not for wiping. The fan in the bathroom was broken. When you showered the bathroom was so filled with moisture the 6 ft ceiling dripped. It sounded like the faucet was leaking. The thermostat in this room had to be reset also and the television set had to be reconnected also. The shower curtain was not clean. The shower head was so fine it was like trying to shower in the rain. The bathroom had multiple messy repair attempts with caulking that was rough. There was also a bamboo like mat in the bathroom and there was mold underneath it. The next day I received a call on my cell phone from the hotel. They asked for us to bring our card keys to the front desk to make sure they had been programmed for the entire week and not just 24hours. When I went to the front desk when we returned to the hotel the clerk was irritated with me and said there was nothing wrong with the keys and I explained I had been told by the staff to do so. Very RUDE. The elevators are a joke. They were so slow. We went to use the Stairs and when we got to the bottom the door was locked and there was a push button type lock on it and we could not get out. WHAT IF THERE WAS A FIRE!!!!! When I asked for the code she stated i was not allowed to have the code access. The last day of our stay the elevators went totally haywire. When you swiped your card it just said try again later. Now on to the breakfast. It was like a feeding frenzy. Like someone had went trolling for sharks and dumped blood in the water. Total insanity. There were only half a dozen tables with chairs. There were a number of lounge chairs, but they were wet. I saw a lady stand up and her bottom and legs to her knees were soaked. The only nice thing I have to say is that there were 2 housekeeping ladies and they were friendly and said good morning, have a nice day, etc... I wish we would have stayed at the other hotel right across the street. Oh and by the way the coffee was horrible. They grow it right there and have all this wonderful water. What's the deal. The other thing is that there was not any coffee or tea, cocoa, etc available 24hrs. No coffee in room either. This hotel needs a serious makeover. I would not recommend it to anyone. Most of the staff acted like they were doing you a favor.

great location.....not a 4 1/2 star hote

The location for a beach hotel was beatiful. However we had to upgrade to get the ocean view. The bed was comfortable, especially for a hotel. Shopping was close enought to walk to. It was rated a 4 1/2 starr hotel....it was more like a 2. There is no coffee maker in the room. You had to go down stairs (we were on the 14th floor)to get a cup of coffee which wasn't available to you until 6:am. The continental breakfest was ok. You got the average muffins, donuts, fruit, cold cereal, yogurt. If you wanted waffles you had to pay extra for them. For the price of the room, it should have been included. The problem was, they only had 2 stations for the food. They were not set up in a line, it was a box shape table....you really had to fight to get what you wanted before it was gone. Time was from 6:30-8:30. If you went down after 7:00, you didn't have much left to pick from. You should be able to have anything available at 6am, until they close. There was only 1 bedside table. The other side had to put things on the floor if you wanted it by your bed. i.e. a drink, alarm clock, remote...etc. For the price your would expect 2 sinks and plenty of counter space in the bathroom. It was very small. You could not have 2 people in there trying to get ready to go out. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was completely rusted. Tile around the wall and the tub were cracked and patched. We ran out of toliet paper, after the room was cleaned, had to call for some. Left note for housekeeping to leave more stationary, and bedside note pad, as well as a complementary bag for dirty clothes. None of these items were left for me. The balcony sliding glass door had the rubber protection on the lock missing, leaving a shrap edge to contend with everytime you opened the door. It was a disappointment to enter the room of what you thought was a 4 1/2 starr rating and find an average room you would expect to pay $60 per night while traveling. I have stayed in Motel 6, Super 8, etc. which were better rooms then this one.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are quite a few places to eat in short or long walks to get too. The walk at night is beautiful along the beach side of the street. The thing you need to be ready for is the crowd, and the street venders. They will "bug" you the whole walk, and they are pushy.

Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel

My wife and I upgraded to a Ocean View and the Room was extremely small. Had to step sideways to pass each other in room aisles. The biggest complaint was the $27.00 + parking tax of $1.25 per day that the hotel automatically charged to your room if you have a rental car. Total: $254.43.Our second complaint was the $39.99 / Week to access the hotel Internet. Free downstairs but you have to leave the room. The third complaint was the the hotel did not provide full coverage of Wimbleton Tennis that was going on. "VERY" limited TV stations.************************************************Items 1 and 2 should have been disclosed when we made the reservations [...]. My wife and I would have selected another Hotel.

Not Rec unless you like gambling

One of the reasons I chose this hotel was their location, the pool, and the free breakfast-so we could get out of there early each morning. Unfortuately the crowded, badly set up corner with mini donuts, and tiny cups of lukewarm coffee sucked. We ended up buying breakfast every morning. They also choose to paint the floor in the pool area one busy day, making it more crowded and the pool was closed nearly all the time. Our bathroom had a plumbing leak and it took 3 days to get moved to another room.

Close to the beach

The staff was wonderful. The cleanliness of the room could of been better. Bathroom walls, floor and door dirty. Vents in the room very very dirty. Could use a good vacuuming. Maid service could use improvement. Rooms are not very big. No room to put your luggage.

Disappointed

The hotel is okay - old and needs updating. We were VERY disappointed with the view. We paid extra for an ocean view room expecting to open the curtains and see the water. The view was of another hotel, but if we went out on the balcony and looked way to the left we could see the ocean. That's not what we consider an "ocean view." VERY DISAPPOINTING.
