CUSTOMER SERVICE
Front desk and maid staff were very nice and helpful. Great spot in Waikiki, The hotel needs a little TLC...painting and maintenance. Bathrooms could use an upgrade, but essential work fine.

Updated hotel, good amenities
Gathering from the reviews on the hotels in Honolulu, most of them are very outdated, but this one was recently renovated. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean; most rooms come with a partial ocean view - probably the same as almost every hotel in the area, unless you pay extra for the full ocean view. The staff was not overly friendly, and we did get a double room the first night even though we had booked a king, then had to switch for the next two nights. The checkout and check-in times were sharp - no leeway, so we had to stow our luggage downstairs. The location is OK - it is across the street from a nicer part of the beach and from the zoo, and a 5 minute walk to the aquarium, as well as to the more bustling shops and restaurants area. The hotel is on the south end of Waikiki beach, so the area is a bit less crowded. The big win is the amenities: free continental breakfast (an assortment of pastries, juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt) which includes a lunchbox so you can literally take it on the beach; they rent out beach chairs along with your towels also at no extra cost; there is indeed a PS3 in every room with a RedBox type DVD rental service below. Overall I would recommend the hotel. However, Honolulu was not a calm, relaxing, beach-resort destination - it's a bit crowded, public beach, and a bustling city. Keep that in mind when booking your trip.

Great Birthday Celebration for my Wife!
Overall we had a great stay and really enjoyed the view and hanging out in Tiki's and around the pool area. However, the room was quite small (we weren't in the room very much) and wind howled under the sliding glass door throughout the night. I also thought it was a bit chintzy that there was only one chair on the balcony. They advertised wireless, but after struggling for some time to get on-line, they told me at the desk that it only worked on the lower floors. We were on 24!

Loved it here. The staff was friendly, it was right across the street from the beach. The room was clean anf the breakfast buffet was nice (mainly fruit and pastries, but you could buy waffles or omlettes if you wanted) The zoo was real close by too. I would definitely stay there again.

Decent
The location for this hotel is great. It's right on the beach and close to various activities like the zoo and Diamondhead. The room itself is pretty ordinary. There is no coffee maker in the room, you have to wait until the continental breakfast opens. The bed was comfortable and we did have a nice view. The front desk staff left a lot to be desired. They were grouchy when we checked in and the one time we asked for their assistance using The Bus, we were hastily handed a map and told the stop was 4 blocks up (it's actually only 2 blocks, fyi). The breakfast was pretty normal for continental food. There were some Asian options to spice it up a bit. Soda was an option during breakfast as well, which I appreciated. Overall, it was not the hotel that made our trip, but it didn't ruin it either.

Not what was expected
Overall it was a pleasurable experience but the hotel wasn’t what we expected. Given the price we paid we expected the rooms to be a little nicer. The first room we got was really dingy and the walls were dirty and not reflective of the 4 star hotel we were expecting for our 10 year anniversary. It was small and to be honest, embarrassing. We asked for another room as we wanted a larger bed and not the two smaller beds. The next room was a little nicer but still not what was expected. The staff was friendly and very helpful, no complaints there. Their “breakfast on the beach” was great. They had a good variety of food and you could eat it either on the beach or by the pool with live music and a dancer to accompany the occasion. If we were told by the front desk about the chairs and towels available we might have made it to the beach for this occasion instead of just by the pool. Location was another great perk as there was so much in walking distance.
