Family vacation with 9 (2 kids)
This was a perfect hotel to stay at with 2 kids (12yr/8yr) , Grandma and extended family. From having continental breakfast available every morning (with free cooler bag to take goodies along too), newspaper , being able to check out beach towels and beach chairs- it was great all while local LIVE music played calmly in morning! Hotel is down at the end of Waikiki ( 5 min walk to Zoo) however you're still a quick walk into the mix of International market place etc etc...smaller pool that was not available first 2 days so that did put a damper on things and it was NOT heated (don't know if that is normal because it did say Heated on hotel info). However Beach is literally across the street -and with kids plently of quick meals avail ( Subway, Burger King, McDonalds, Starbuck's, Cold Stone Creamry, quick Wolfgang Pucks...but also Tiki Bar and grill that has great bar menu and you can sit and listen to evening music live on lanai w/kids and doesn't get crazy- FREE wifi out in pool area and here's a HUGE PARKING TIP...parking you can do for MUCH CHEAPER at other Aston location literally 1 block/quick 5 min walk at Aston Waikiki Bayan and only pay $12 a day/$72 a week gets you parking pass to go in and out as you wish.. you have to pay CASH and they give you parking sticker for set days...Grandma/and kiddos were able to do the walk with no problem or you can drop off and literally drive down street back and one person walk back..it saved us alot of money by doing this instead of parking with set hotel. overall---great staff ...when door key card didn't work on one room they were there ASAP to fix. Takes about 10 minutes to walk down to International Market place but not a big deal in evening when a bit cooler and everyone's out enjoying just being there :) Hope my review helps you !!!

Perfect 10th anniversary
We were both blown away by the view from our room and balcony. In fact, it served as much of our entertainment during our stay. We walked around Waikiki a lot and enjoyed the shopping and sight seeing. In fact I was surprised that I didn't gain a pound even though I ate well. (Yay!) The breakfast buffet every morning was wonderful also. (One less thing to worry about.) I was sort of surprised that there was no Wifi in the rooms but the wireless service in the pool area worked fine. Over all, my favorite vacation so far. I'll definitely stay at the Aston Waikiki Beach again! Oh, and did I mention the sunsets? WOW!

Short walk from hotel
We definitely enjoyed the take out lunches and dinners from the (I suppose what you would call) on-site restaurants. Also, if you go on a bus tour, listen to your driver to get tips on places to eat that you might not notice on your own, that have delicious food and are very reasonably priced. The locals definitely know!

Very disappointed
Only there for 5 days and important detail while booking hotel was pool area. Wanted to rest and relax by pool as much as possible. First day went to pool area noticed how dangerous and slippery it was because the cement surrounding outside of pool had been painted and very slippery. I was in pool and came out and walking very slowly because so slippery from painted cement but still fell on my bad knee and injured myself. Then if that weren't bad enough, the last 2 days out of our trip the pool was closed and I couldn't go to beach with wound on knee (didn't want sand to get in it) and was looking forward to going in pool but couldn't because closed for maintenance. Hotel only gave $75 credit for pool closure when hotel itself cost over $1,000.

Good location!
My husband and I chose an oceanfront room at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel for our honeymoon - our first trip to Hawaii. We had a wonderful stay! First, my negatives. Although clean, the room felt a little old and worn out, especially in the bathroom and on the lanai. The paint around the doorways were chipped or rough where they'd been painted over. So you can tell the hotel is old, but they are working to keep it in decent condition. Also, we had two full-sized beds, which was fine, but we would have preferred one larger bed. Now the positives. Everything else about the hotel room felt very clean - the linens, towels, furniture, etc. The lobbies and even elevators are in great shape! The breakfast on the beach they serve daily was yummy! I couldn't get enough of the fresh fruit, and there was a good selection of pastries, as well as miso soup, rice, and kimchee (which was delicious). One day we ordered an omelet and a waffle extra, and those were also tasty. The view from our lanai was gorgeous - I couldn't stop taking photos from it. And the glass doors to the lanai did a great job blocking out the traffic noises. The thing I liked most about the hotel was its location. It was toward the outer edge of the chain of hotels along Waikiki Beach, but it was still within easy walking distance of some fantastic restaurants and shopping centers, and of course, the beach!

Short walk from hotel
We took a leap and skipped the rental car in lieu of public transportation. It was a good idea. Taxis are expensive (we needed one between hotel and airport), but bus transportation, while a bit slower, was far cheaper and basically gives you a tour of the city as you ride! You can get a 4-day pass or just pay as you ride. There are bus stops within a short walk of the hotel.

Waikiki value
I stayed at Sheraton Waikiki just before I went to Aston. The room sizes were about the same, all very small. I think they sized the rooms like Japanese hotels. But Aston was lot cheaper. Aston hotel staffs were very gentle and nice. However, when I had problem with my TV they were unable to fix it on time and forgot about the problem later on. They were very polite, though. The biggest thing I liked about the hotel was BOB, breakfast on the beach. Actually it was just free breakfast around the pool area. I thought it was going to be like continental breakfast but it was much much better. Food in Hawaii is expensive but at least this breakfast feast covered more than enough of my satisfaction. I really liked it. The location is also pretty good. The hotel is not on the beach but it is just across from the beach, literally. It is toward the end of Waikiki beach so you can still walk around the shops very easily. Good location is definitely a plus.

Birthday celebration
Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel was very good. Rooms are smaller but clean, manageable and somewhat comfortable. There was some problem with the room keys. They didn't work in one try. you have to try several times. Also try having room not so close to the elevators. These made humming noise. We had an ocean view room and were very happy to look at the sun set scene each evening. Breakfast was excellent. No eggs and bacon but we don't eat them any way. Plenty of fruit, bagels, pasteries and muffins and coffee and cereal choice. There was Hawaiian dance each morning which was very good as well. Had excellent time. Tikki bar was very enjoyable. Beach front was a 3 minutes walk

Review of Aston
Breakfast buffet was pretty good. Room was smaller than expected but ok. Had problems with Safe, didn't want to unlock with given code. Had to keep calling guest services to reset, annoying. Checking out staff did reimburse me 2 days that safe didn't work, glad for that. Otherwise service was good. Beach towels and chairs are complimentary from hotel until 7pm, can take to beach. When I booked room I specifically asked ocean view with city view not Diamond Head, but they did not fulfill my request. View was still ok, I just minded that they didn't fulfill my request.
