Our Hawaii honeymoon-10 years later!
We loved staying at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel . The pool area and the view and access to the beach was awesome. The room was very clean, and kept cleaned each day, and employees were very happy & helpful. It was great to be able to get clean towels and chairs for the beach, the pool and the extra activities we had planned off site. The daily breakfast buffet was good too. Tin Tin (we think that is the spelling) was very helpful in getting clean towels for our room. We loved him!

Needs a good cleaning!
This place was gross. The walls needed a scrubbing - dirt and food smeared in places; bathroom door had blood drops on the back of it; toothpaste on the wall. Bathroom had no storage area other than a little counter space. Bathroom tub caulking coming off; tiles cracked and dirty; no bath fan. Good location and amenities. Very expensive parking, but good directions from bell staff.

Great Week!
This was our first trip to Hawaii (Honeymoon) and we were happy with our experience. Waikiki Beach is a busy area with lots going on. This is good and bad. Good because restaurants and shops are only a short distance away. Bad because there is a lot of noise (trucks/cars/buses/trollies). We didn't keep our door open in the daytime because of the noise, but then again we didn't spend much time in the room during the day. The room was always cool and we never had any issues with hot water or water pressure. The beach is right across the street which is GREAT! There is also a nice park next door that always seems to be busy with festivals. Tiki's Restaurant was good (great food, okay service, okay prices). The daily breakfast included muffins, pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, and a few other things. It was great for a free breakfast. We did eat at Wolfgang Puck Express and a had a great meal. The staff was more than accommodating and very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. A lot of people complained about the elevators... There really isn't anything too confusing about them. They are safe, fast, and easy to use. The main reason for booking the hotel was the proximity to the beach and the free breakfast. We were very happy with both of these. The hotel was a reasonable price, comfortable bed, clean room, great view, and nice staff. All and all, it's a winner!!

Short walk from hotel
About 10 minutes from the hotel there is a great ale house called The Yardhouse. This small chain has an amazing beer selection and GREAT happy hour and lunch specials. About 5 minutes from the hotel is a great restaurant called Cheeseburger in Paradise. Be sure to try a Loco Moco burger while in town. A MUST!

Wonderful Hotel for all!!
This is a great place to stay!! I was impressed by how friendly the staff was! The elevator system was so nice.. You need a room card to get to your floor. I thought that was great!! This way it kept the traffic to a minimum, no kids riding up and down the elevators all day... lol. Anyways, my mother, daughter and I all had a wonderful time in Oahu. This hotel was a big part of enjoying our stay, they made everything effortless and easy to understand.. *****

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take the pink Line Trolley to the Ala Moana shopping mall. It will take you right there! Its $2 there, from your hotel, and $2 back from the mall. So for $4 you can catch a ride on this Trolley from just about all hotels in Waikiki!

Not worth the money
It was a very good experience in most things. The Wi-Fi issue was a true pain. Had to go to a particular to get it for free. The $300.00 a day rate would certainly cover the cost of providing the service to each room. No there was a seperate charge and you could only get a wired connection. Not very friendly to my Kindle Fire. The complimentary breakfast was lacking also. Practically no protein which of course makes it very diabetic unfriendly. The ridiculous rate for the parking was also very cheap thing to do. Could have been so much better.

Good, but could be better
Before I list off what needs to be improved, it should be said that the location and hotel staff were fantastic. Everyone was incredibly helpful and all phone calls to the front desk were immediately taken care of. Now the nitty gritty. The bathroom didn't have a fan. After hot showers, orrrr....ahem, etc, a fan would have been mighty helpful! The cleaning crew only emptied the waste baskets but didn't pick up the trash that was immediately next to the trash cans. I understand that this may have been something they have been told not to do, however, it was quite obvious what was trash and what was our stuff. And, after days of them not picking up the trash in our room, things started to smell. Other details like a non-working remote control and the fact that we weren't given an option to opt out of having our towels changed every day (save water and energy!) are just my personal gripe. Try out the hotel, just speak up about when the trash needs to go.

Great Room
The room and atmosphere were great and the breakfast was good also. The only downfall was the bar has live music at night and if you want some sleep its hard to do. That's how it was from the room we were in it might be different on the other side of the hotel. Other than that it was GREAT!!

Might be an ok place for the younger crowd just wanting to be in the center of the action
The hotel charged extra for just about everything. The free breakfast was a variety of pastries that were mostly mediocre to poor in quality and taste. The hotel is in a very noisy area so there was no way to sleep in due to trucks backing up and unloading very noisily. It is centrally located across from the beach and near shopping, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. The decor of the hotel was tacky beach and the room was very small. I definitely would not stay there again.

Nightlife tip:
Long walk from hotel
The best place we found for a relaxing drink while watching the sunset was The House with No Key. It is a restaurant with a bar area behind it on the beach. We were entertained by music that was not too loud and hula by Miss Hawaii and a darling little girl. The appetizers are also very good. I would highly recommend this place.
