A pretty decent hotel, not amazing

The room was OK, not quite as cute in person as it looked online. Sometimes the noise from the nightclubs on the street kept us up at night, and we didn't like the smell of smoke coming through our airconditioner (in our non-smoking room). Overall though, nice location with an easy walk to the beach, the staff was friendly, and we enjoyed our trip.

Aloha

4 adults to one room with 2 double beds, plenty of room, beds comfortable, bathroom space adequate, nothing special. Basics provided, soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Room has a microwave, mini refrig, and coffee pot, makes 2 cups. Outside with 2 plastic chairs and table with good views of Diamond Head and some ocean views from the 12th floor. Yes, there was noise day and esp. at night, but staying next to the Market, places with outdoor music and on one of the busiest roads in the area, you have to expect it. Staff friendly and efficient. We were not in the room much, bath, sleep and a little relaxing on the outside porch while others bath, etc... Beach towels provided at the front desk. Close to many resturants, an ABC store and shopping. Beach about 2 city block walk. Staff stored our suitcases before checking time, 3pm and also after 12 noon check out until we left for the airport at 7pm. Good value for the price, we read the reviews and knew to expect noise.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Look into purchasing a Go Ohau card, if you plan on seeing many attractions, ie Pearl Harbour, Diamond Head, snorkleing, Luali, canoeing, Grand Island tour, etc.. good investment and saved money, only drawback, must make many reservations ahead of time. Most pickups were within easy walking distance from hotel.

Hawaiian Vacation

Centrally located, a block from the beach, shopping , restaurants and entertainment. Bus stops, either way about 50 ft away. Staff accommodating and helpful. Only problem, balcony or lanai littered with encrusted bird pop. Avoid handling the railings, otherwise the room is clean. Room ambience very soothing and relaxing. AC is great, has its own digital temp control in increments of degrees. Microwave and Mimi fridge provided so you stock your own food and drinks. Hotel recommended for budget traveller w/out sacrificing comfort and security.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

It is cheaper to shop on Kuhio Ave , where the hotel is than at Kalakau, a block up by the beach even from the same store chain. Eat seafoods! You're in Hawaii, they are fresh and cheap. Don't forget fiber...pineapple, papaya, mangoes and of course, macadamia!

In the middle of everything

The hotel is very clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. The concierge service is excellent. The downside is the location. It is right in the heart of Waikiki nightlife and the International Marketplace. There is street noise constantly. The urban feel is great for NYC but not for a relaxing getaway. The hotel is aware and does warn visitors and offers earplugs. If you want to be right in the middle of the city this is the place for you.

Excellent location and price

I liked the location of the place - only about a 10 min walk from the beach, and lots of food and stalls right next door. Also, complimentary beach towels. Bad part: bad house keeping. Of the week that I stayed there, they didn't replace the shampoo, soap, coffee/tea, conditioner, etc for about 5 days. The shampoo and conditioner was also very weak and watery. Another bad thing is the noise level! I can hear garbage trucks by 5-6am and the bar next door is crazily loud. It kept me awake all night!

Not bad for the price

The hotel is Very good for the price you pay. The only thing i didn't like was the elevator was either too slow or not working at all. Other than that nice clean hotel in the heart of Waikiki...

Honest rating

You couldn't ask for a better staff. They did all they could to make the stay enjoyable. That said, our room was directly across from the elevator, and on the 9th floor. I expected to hear lots of noise from guests getting on and off the elevator but I also heard many trucks every morning, delivery and garbage trucks. It was far too noisy for my taste. Also, when we checked in, the key wouldn't open the door, and we were waiting for about 15 minutes to get in our room after a long flight. The hallway wasn't air conditioned, so we felt miserable. In another room my mom had, anyone could just open the door. It couldn't lock. Finally, the bathroom was tiny, with the sink in the same room. The shower had very strong pressurem which forced the curtain on us during showers. I think a bowed curtain rod would have helped. Parking was $20 a night and it was a tight squeeze most of the time. When it was full, I'd have to park at another hotel 2 blocks away. Parking was as much as $35 a night in some places. Restaurants wouln't validate parking, so you'd be better off walking.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Don't rent a car if you're going to Waikiki. It's not needed and a waste of money. For day trips away from the area, you can rent a car at Enterprise which is very close and return it the same day. Taxis, shuttles and busses will work fine for most travel not in walking distance. My mom has trouble walking, so we drove to a nearby restaurant. Parking was $15 after tip, a taxi was $7 and a lot less stressful. Of course walking was less than 10 minutes---if you're able to.

It's like the Denny's of Hotels

Average hotel in a convenient location. Just a few blocks from the main strip as well as Waikiki Beach. Friendly staff and the rooms were pretty clean. Very comfortable beds. Noisy if you are below the 7th floor; especially on weekends. I would suggest staying at this hotel if you are on a real budget or are on a mission to party. If you're looking for a place to relax, I would spend the extra $100 to stay somewhere a bit nicer. I don't think I'll stay here again just because there are many other hotels to choose from within the same price range or for a little more. You are on VACATION so.. ENJOY IT!

Starbucks in the morning. Either a block to your right or left. Best breakfast within a 10 minute walk is Eggs 'n Things. Eat lunch at Duke's on Waikiki Beach.

Good for Young People

The location & price of this hotel were great. We stayed for 2 nights before going on a cruise. If I were going to be there for a whole week, I would've stayed somewhere else. It was really loud and you can tell the hotel is very old in the hallways and elevators. The rooms were remodeled nicely though and the beds were comfy.
