Hip escape in the center of Waikiki
The peaceful Aqua Waikiki Wave is a surprising find tucked into the middle of Waikiki. A non-family-style boutique hotel that is somehow still perfect for the family offers trendy room décor, unpretentious serenity and affordability. Step outdoors and find endless opportunity for exploration and fun, including International Market Place, Royal Hawaiian Center and Waikiki Beach, just a block away. The Wave is also one of Honolulu's few dog-friendly hotels, welcoming two critters up to 40 pounds each (fees apply).
Highlights
- Peaceful location in the middle of Waikiki
- Free Wi-Fi, daily paper, fitness center, business center and pool
Location
Aqua Wave Waikiki sits in a nook along one of Waikiki's main streets next to the International Market Place and a block from Waikiki Beach. Enjoy walking access to the entire area before retreating to the peaceful atmosphere at Aqua Wave.

Aqua Waikiki Wave Hotel
The hotel was very nice and exactly what we wanted. Clean, large room, 2 balconies (we didn't even request a balcony, so that was nice!), all the features we expected and everything worked fine. The hotel staff was professional and courteous, very friendly and helpful. The desk clerks, the concierge, and the housekeeping staff were great. The hotel is a short walk from Waikiki beach. The International Market Place is right beside the hotel. We enjoyed shopping there several times. We liked the location for shopping and restaurants. There are dozens of fine restaurants in walking distance.

Excellent wifi and location. Small
Excellent wifi and location. Small bathroom with no vent so steams up pretty quickly. Staff are great and very close to the beach and restaurant at your footstep.

First timer to Hawaii!!
The hotel itself is located in a great location. The well known "International Marketplace" is your backyard. Many great things to buy and lots of great food to eat. My kids loved it!! And the best part is that it's a walking distance from the beach. Not far at all!! Just the right distance to enjoy the walk. We also enjoyed "Germaines Luau"!! That was awesome. From the hotel, u walk a block away to catch the bus for a great night of entertainment at the luau!! Since we had a rental car, we were able to enjoy many other things. Pearl Harbor, Waimea Falls, Diamond Head, Hanaua Bay, & the Dole Plantation. Never had any problem with parking at the hotel. We were lucky to have scheduled our vacation when we did. We were in Hawaii during the Pan Pacific Festivals!! Enjoyed the parades and all the history that comes with it!! Planning to go again. Maybe as soon as next year!!! Loved the whole experience!! Would definitely stay at Aqua Wave Waikiki!!!

Short walk from hotel
Just plan ahead. Food does cost more in Hawaii. Breakfast is easy so cereal, PB&J sandwiches, or fruit in the hotel made it a little less expensive.

The hotel was conveniently located, so that we could walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. It was clean, but room service at times was either very late in the day, and in one case, not at all. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Very noisy at night, especially on the weekends, even though we were on the 7th floor. All in all a delightful vacation, and we could not have been happier with the location.

Great restaurants in walking area. Some well known chains and some pricey local. High Tea at the Moana Surfrider is a must.

Hotel is old and worn
The hotel rooms are worn out and the bathrooms have little ventilation. The neighborhood is so loud at night that the hotel actually provides earplugs! The area is full of prostitutes that solicited continuously.

Dont take a family
The hotel staff was friendly but that was about the only good thing. Prostitutes are all over on front of the hotel soliciting everyone walking by. There are earplugs provided by the hotel and even on the 12th floor the bars were loud and the garbage trucks started at 6:00AM and did not finish until 7:00AM. the bathroom was tiny, dingy and poorly ventilated.

Aqua Waikiki Wave
Rooms were cleaned every day. We did the free breakfast and spent lots more money. Guy in charge led us to believe that there was lava flowing into ocean at Hilo -(Big Island) flight which we bought. Not true. We needed to spend the night on the island or book a really late flight to see the lava glow. Also we should have been told to bring a coat. It was very cold at the Volcano National Park. We did the dinner cruise, the circle tour- excellent tour guide named Rocky, the Dole Plantation, the Macadamian plantation, the Germine luau, hiked to Diamond Head twice, saw lost of hula shows, did the Pearl Harbor tour, the Arizona, the Air Museum and Army Museum, rented a car for 2 days- stopped at lots of beaches along the Northshore, went to the flea market at Aloha Stadium on 2 Saturdays, went to the beach and did lots of shopping. Someone at the hotel should have told us about the $1.00 bus fare for senior citizens. They did give us a bus schedule and we finally found out for ourselves. Would like to have known earlier.

"NOT a Boutique Hotel"
Do stay here if you like: 1. A full 20-minutes wait to check in. 2. Rude and unprofessional staff. Check in clerk who don't bother with a simple 'hello'. 3. Music blasting from night clubs on Friday and Saturday nights. Earplug provided by the hotel will not help. 4. No one pick up the phone when call for room service. 5. Indifference concierge. 6. Ladies of the nights soliciting in front of hotel door. There better choices on direct on Waikiki beach in this price range. This is not a boutique hotel. It is located in the city club district.

Great location and great service.
Great location and great service. We were given a free upgrade of our room to a higher level. I would recommend staying in a higher level if you have children as it is very loud at night due to a night club situated below. All in all a fantastic place to stay and would stay there again.
