Scubagirl

Hotel was nice and clean, parking was easy. Location did not have the greatest food nearby. Staff was helpful but their food suggestions had bad service with less than ideal food. Location was ok, ladies of the evening were about 3 blocks away :(

good value/location, expensive parking

We had hard time finding the hotel. To find, look for a Jack in the Box near Kuhio and Namahana. Then look right across the street at da Big Kahuna Waikiki restaurant and a Hawaii clothing store. The hotel stairway/entry is right between them, and the driveway to the parking garage is on the other side of the restaurant. After finally finding the hotel, we were surprised by a $20/night parking fee to park in a small garage that quickly filled up in the evening. The hotel did have an arrangement with a parking structure next door for overfill parking, but we had to relinquish car and keys to an attendant who whisked it up a car elevator; note this overfill parking structure is closed late night (forgot what time) and doesn't re-open until 6am so you would not be able to access your car during these hours. Anyhow, I knew parking was expensive in the area but would've really appreciated heads up about this fee in their hotel info. Great location, just steps away from international market place shopping, Waikiki beach. Our room was clean and quiet -- we were on the highest (15th) floor though. Room service was a bit odd with soap amenities: received a used lotion bottle one day, and two bars of soap but no shampoo on another... We were satisfied overall.

Only if your into partying

I booked a room at the Aqua Waikiki Wave hotel on Oahu for one night to attend a Luau while staying on Molokai for the rest of my vacation. The hotel location is right in the middle of the Waikiki Beach city area. If you are the partying type, this is the hotel for you. However, we are not, and the noise kept us up all night. People were screaming and cutting up outside the hotel and outside our door on the sixth floor all night. We constantly heard motorcycles rev up their engines and police/ambulance sirens. The hotel even provides complimentary ear plugs, which makes it difficult to hear an alarm clock when you have a flight out early the next morning. I read that the hotel was noisy, but I underestimated how noisy it would be. If you're going to Waikiki Beach to party, book this hotel because is in the right location for you. Otherwise, find one along the beach or on the outskirts of Waikiki. Better yet, go to Molokai instead and enjoy what Hawaii truly has to offer.

A nice place

This hotel was fairly average and compairable to most. The best thing was the location in relation to the International Market Place and the beach. The worst was the noise at night. Loud noise from the street carried up to the rooms during the late hours of the night.

you get what you pay for

the location of the hotel is great... within walking distance of some restaurants & attractions like scuba diving. the room itself wasnt impressive... one of the people in town said it was recently taken over and renovated & it was run down before that. it may not say it but parking is $20/day & $8/day for a scooter. the good: location, the bad: the parking, uninviting rooms, the ugly: nothing awful really... just remember you get what you pay for also, the partial ocean view means if you look out over the balcony railing to your side, you can see the ocean between some buildings

Great Guest Services But Average Overall

I stayed in this hotel for about 10 days, 5.5 days in the Aloha Suite Superior Wave & 4.5 days in the Deluxe Wave. In both rooms we were on the 12th floor, only 5 rooms away from one another. Below is my review: Con: - Bathroom: ONLY when we stayed in the Deluxe Wave is where we had a problem with the shower head. The power was too low and the temperature would change. The temperature of the water would randomly change several degrees down. The feeling is noticable, but its not going to burn or freeze your butt off. Iffy (impartial feedback): - Room Service: The only problem was with the sheets. They cleaned our room, giving us new towels, fixing our bed, and throwing away the trash. BUT they didnt change our sheets. They had reused the same sheets. Maybe they only change the sheets when guests checkout, but it would have been nice if they changed the sheets whenever someone "cleans" the room. - Noise: It's close to the night life scene, so there are always loud people out. The noise is tolerable, but if you want a more relaxing atmosphere then try finding another hotel (probably a hotel further from the beach or on a higher floor). - Plumbimg: There was a problem with the plumbing, so before they fixed it, the night before there were random tumping sounds. Sounds that lasts for several seconds, but happened a few times. Pro: - Customer Service: Everyone there is soooooo nice. They gave us suggestions & directions to whatever we needed/wanted to do. - Price: The rooms are nice & the location is great with the prices we paid for. Overall, I would still stay at this hotel because its in the middle of everything. Several blocks away from the beach, next to the international market, 1 block away from a shopping strip, close to the bars/clubs, several blocks away from car rental services, and 2 blocks away from the Magic of Polynesian show.
