Hip escape in the center of Waikiki
The peaceful Aqua Waikiki Wave is a surprising find tucked into the middle of Waikiki. A non-family-style boutique hotel that is somehow still perfect for the family offers trendy room décor, unpretentious serenity and affordability. Step outdoors and find endless opportunity for exploration and fun, including International Market Place, Royal Hawaiian Center and Waikiki Beach, just a block away. The Wave is also one of Honolulu's few dog-friendly hotels, welcoming two critters up to 40 pounds each (fees apply).

Couple retreat
My husband and I made a last minute trip to Oahu and stayed at the Aqua Wave. This is a great hotel for couples. This is not a hotel you want to have your children stay at. The reason I say that is due to the clubs and noise form the clubs and the "women of the night" that are right outside on the street. These problems are in no way the hotels fault. It's just not what I would want my children to see. The location is great for going to the international market place and getting to the beach. I also liked that I was just a block down from Denny's. The rooms are very nice but the elevators have a mind of their own!!

Get to know the staff at the hotel. Most have lived on Oahu for a very long time and will help you with anything from tours to wear to get the best tattoo. Great staff and customer service.

We got this room for a good deal, so I would say it was worth it. The room was really clean and nice, and bigger than expected. It's close to everything (right in the middle of Waikiki). We were woken by partying or rowdy neighbors, as mentioned in some other reviews. It comes with wireless internet in the rooms, which I needed. However, the hotel charges $20/day for parking. We ended up parking on the street kinda far away to avoid the charges (maybe 1/2 mile walk), but free street parking can be kinda hard to find. Also, the hotel does not have a pool.

Simple Hotel at Affordable Price
I got this the day of -- so perhaps that explains why it was only $78 or so. The hotel is simple but provides all you need. It's also attached to a Chinese restaurant (which I've never seen in a non-Chinese hotel before).

Needs something extra
Located just a block off the main strip, this hotel isn't a bad place to stay. Although local kids seem to hang out in the alley way next to the hotel and they can get pretty loud at night. Nice hotel, clean but, lacking that special something.

They first put my buddy and I in a 2nd floor room with a view of the garage wall and a single bed. We went back and told them that was not going to work, that we'd booked for 2 beds. They put us in a decent room on the 7th floor that was much much better than the lower level room.

one week stay at Oahu
I enjoyed my 6 night stay at Aqua Waikiki Wave. I recommend this hotel to any budget travelers visiting Oahu.

Xmas escape
Great location with basic accommodations. Convenient for city bus/trolley stops. No amenities. Friendly and courteous staff. An aged facility in need of some structural upgrades that would increase its appeal. Probably better for short stay (1 to 3 days) vs 1 week or longer.
