Friendly staff & good location

Everyone who worked the front desk was very courteous and welcoming. Great staff, great experience as well as quality, especially for the price... location is great... close to everything you need when staying near Waikiki. The hotel has been remodeled inside pretty nice and feels comfortable. The only thing that I can say needs improving, is the cleanliness of the rooms... very minor things like cleaner coffee pots and water bug near trash in bathroom.. which is common in tropical areas. Overall I would highly recommended for a short stay in Waikiki.

Waikiki

The staff was great, very helpful. The room was adequate, and I thought a bit on the pricey side at $180 per night with tax. But seemed to be the best this search engine could find. Location is good, about 5-10 minute walk to the beach and with lots of food options nearby.

Takes dogs

Choose hotel because it would accept dogs. Does not charge extra for service animals. Hotel is 3 blocks from the beach. There is a Starbucks on the cornor and an excellent Italian restaurant across the street; as well as pack and ship next door. Parking is $23 /day extra; first come first served.

conference attendance on a budget

We booked a 7-night stay for a conference at the Hawaii Convention Center. The hotel was in easy walking distance of the beautiful Waikiki beach and we could even see a tiny glimpse of the ocean from our lanai (we stayed on the 8th floor). It was also a pleasant but slightly longer walk (about 20-25 minutes) to the Hawaii Convention Center. Also very close by (a few blocks at most) were the bus stop (useful for taking the #2 to the Convention Center if you didn't want to walk, and the #42 to Pearl Harbor), grocery store, pharmacy, camera shop (had a flash drive I urgently needed for the conference), and many other stores and restaurants, including the International Market (walk through on your way to and from the beach if you need souvenirs). The area is very touristy, but once you get over that, you will find it has everything you need. The hotel room suite itself consisted of one bedroom (containing a side table, desk, and mirrored closet) connecting to the bathroom, and one large open area containing the kitchen (microwave, stove top, sink, almost full-size fridge/freezer, coffee maker, and even a toaster), sofa bed plus dresser, table and chairs, another entrance to the bathroom, and another bed which could be divided from the rest of the room via a curtain. The style was basic as far as the decor was concerned, but welcome additions included a large lanai (with a table, two chairs, and a useful drying rack for wet beach clothes), and a bathroom counter with plenty of space for everyone's stuff. Three of us shared the suite (one in the bedroom, one in the bed behind the curtain divider, and one on the sofa bed), and the suite was so large that we did not find ourselves in each other's way at all (even after 7 days together). The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, and a concierge is available during certain hours for help planning tours, etc. Other guests at the hotel seemed to be enjoying their vacation and ranged from families with young kids to older couples, with a few party-minded young folks thrown in for good measure. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for budget-minded travelers looking for a place to stay near the beach (but not beach front) or people attending events at the Hawaiian Convention Center who don't mind a nice walk (or short bus ride).

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Apparently, the cost of a ticket for jaywalking is about $90 and the police do give these out regularly. The area is very pedestrian-friendly, and we walked around a lot. Although it was hard to put my urban jaywalking habit aside, I complied with the ample pedestrian crossings and "walk" signs and did not have any problems. Also, tempting as it is to take the public bus to Pearl Harbor, it is a long ride with many stops along the way. Take the #42 if you can (the #20 goes through the airport and is slower). One more: the public buses don't allow luggage that can't fit under the seat. Call for an airport shuttle instead (if traveling with a group, the cost may be even less than is posted on some of the shuttle websites - call and ask them).

Aqua Waikiki Pearl

Hotel lobby very clean with secure entrance after hours. Finding entrance was a challenge though since it is located among street shopping stores. Two elevators service guests and have some age to them giving a dated look to Aqua Waikiki Pearl hotel. Catwalks provide access to rooms equal or greater to upscale hotels having mini fridge freezer, microwave, counter space. Sleep quality like all area hotels is with traffic noise early an late due to main route. Overall your close to everything enjoyable with nightlife atmosphere. Loved the clean room, full tub/shower and floor layout of superior room with balcony. You also did not hear the exterior mounted A/C run as much like other hotels. I would recommend a visit you are close and parking is secluded.

Decent hotel

I stayed here with a fellow grad student during a conference. It was a decent hotel, with a couple issues. Firstly, we were given a suite because they had overbooked, which is great, because then we had a kitchen, but it seemed like the suite had just as much furniture as the regular rooms, just spread out. Not a big issue, just a bit weird. Secondly, there seemed to be a roach problem, since I saw one or two on multiple occasions. I told the front desk at checkout and they said they were take care of it. A special thanks to Dexter at the front desk though, he was really cool and did his best to help me in my search for a Ukulele. I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a cheap-ish place to stay and you don't mind having a simple room.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

If you want to try authentic Japanese food, go to "Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin ". I went there with my group of friends, one of which is from Japan, and he said this place is the real deal. All of us loved it and its a decent price for what you get. A good lunch option would be "Sam's Kitchen", which is a lot closer and if you're looking for drinks, "The Shack" has $2 drafts Thursday nights. "Blue Water Shrimp and Fish Market" is also a winner if you want some local food while perusing the international marketplace.

Great Location!

The hotel staff were very friendly and were more than willing to accommodate your needs. Parking is very limited and so you have to put your name on a list to get a spot. I had to park two streets down, which wasn't a big deal. The location of the hotel is great. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. There are a lot of restaurants around the hotel, offering different types on cuisines. There are also a lot of small convenient stores so you can buy smaller things. There is a mall a few streets down with all your popular name brand stores. THe price was worth the location of the hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

Ok

The staff was friendly, the room was spacious and clean. What you have to know is that they have a quite expensive parking lot and the price of stay does not include the parking fee which is $20/night.
