Avoid if Possible

Location: Parking for hotel leaves a lot to be desired; less than 12 spots and a few meters on the street. Dive bar downstairs brings in questionable patrons Room: AC unit in room was loud Room had hair on bedding and in bathroom TV was tiny and remote did not work Bath towels were not in room. It took 2 calls and an hour and a half for towels to arrive. Was told that towels needed to washed. No extras? Front desk was friendly, but it appears they are in a tough position working on this property. Would not recommend and would not stay at again!

ran down

Aqua Hotel should be rated only "one star" or less. Thef first room they gave us their bed sheets had stains all over it, I found bed a bug on the bug and few flies all over the lamp. AND their carpet was dirty too. My daughter was afraid to sleep in that room. I was tempted to check in to another hotel but since we already paid for it. There was no way they would give us a refund. We went back to the lobby to complain. Good that the front desk gave us another room.

Horrible

The parking situation was a horror and cost $42 per night (12 stalls only). The room AC blowing into your face. You can hear everyone's doors open and closed. The bath sink was too high for short people and clogged up / slow drainage. Worst experience in Waikiki ever in 30 years.

annyoing nonsmoking policy

The hotel was fine in all respects except for the smoking policy. They don't allow smoking and I did not smoke but my clothing must have smelled of smoke becauase they claimed there was a strong odoer. They aer trying to charge me $250 to clean the room when I didn't even smoke in it.

Credit card required to check-in

This hotel required my credit card for the security deposit. But I didn't bring a credit card to Hawaii. So they moved me to another hotel (Park Shore Waikiki) where I could pay $100 cash for the security deposit. This hotel was shaped like an L, and I was given a room facing the garage which was at the outside point of the L..... The garage had a very loud and smelly ventilation system which didn't allow for peace and relaxation.

Could be better. Could be worse

We wanted to save money by upgrading to a kitchenette. After paying $400 extra for the week and buying $200 in groceries we realized we had next to nothing to cook it with. We had 3 knives, forks and spoons. One ladle, 3 stainless steel pots and 1 stainless steel pan. No bowls, can opener. We ended up eating out and spending more. So $600 gone to waste. Be prepared to eat cereal and sandwiches only.

just for sleeping

It was the AQUA WAIKIKI PEARL HOTEL. Standard rooms are just for sleeping. No chair and table, no hangers in closet, when I arrived. Microwave not helpful without kitchenware. No place in hotel to spend some time outside the room, i.g. no pool and no lounge. Most uncomfortable hotel I ever had in Waikiki. (10 previous visits...!!!) No dining options in hotel.

Ok, not great

The staff was very friendly and the location was great. However, the parking lot was full the whole time I stayed there and I had to pay parking fees to park at another hotel.

Worse than it looks

The location was perfect. Couldn't get any closer to the International Market Place and a really easy walk to the beach. But...I wouldn't stay here again. It was cheap but the doors were so loud I could hear them banging closed all around me all night long. Also the bathroom fan looked really gross, full of rust I think. It is really a motel with doors to the outside, not an inside hallway like a regular hotel. The hotel staff sent us to an occupied room at first and we had to go back downstairs to get a new room. I would rate it a two star.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The international market place has all the Hawaiian goods you could ever want and for cheap. You would never find those prices here on the mainland.
