Waikiki

The staff was great, very helpful. The room was adequate, and I thought a bit on the pricey side at $180 per night with tax. But seemed to be the best this search engine could find. Location is good, about 5-10 minute walk to the beach and with lots of food options nearby.

Great Price with NOT SO great location & vacation is all about LOCATION!

I stayed at this hotel a total of three times, not exactly sure what brought me back a third time besides the affordability factor and maybe a glimmer of hope of it being better than last time. Most recent stay I payed around $65/night, not bad for a hotel a short walk from Waikiki Beach BUT...this was and IS my last time. I stayed with my lovely wife who was a first timer in Hawaii. The location of this hotel is horrible, can't say anything better really...you have women selling themselves a few hundred feet away from the main entrance, people openly offering all kinds of drugs as you walk to the hotel and the NOISE, oh boy the noise. Delivery trucks with LOUD refrigerated trailers who have a tendency to pull up to the main entrance, park and the driver disappears for an hour or two...and this is at 5AM, GARBAGE trucks, the NOISE just echoes through the street the hotel sits on and there is nothing you'll be able to do to suppress it, NOTHING, BELIEVE ME when I say it, I've stayed here three times. The staff is WONDERFUL, very nice people who will go out of their way to make you happy, that you can't beat.

Horrible

The parking situation was a horror and cost $42 per night (12 stalls only). The room AC blowing into your face. You can hear everyone's doors open and closed. The bath sink was too high for short people and clogged up / slow drainage. Worst experience in Waikiki ever in 30 years.

Takes dogs

Choose hotel because it would accept dogs. Does not charge extra for service animals. Hotel is 3 blocks from the beach. There is a Starbucks on the cornor and an excellent Italian restaurant across the street; as well as pack and ship next door. Parking is $23 /day extra; first come first served.

Aqua Waikiki Pearl

The location of the hotel was good but that is the only truly posative thing I have to say about the hotel. the rooms were small and had no view. the family got bug bites from the room. housekeeping didnt even follow their own recommendations on the towel useage. the parking situation was unacceptable. we paid for parking on site and were turfed to a location 2 blocks from the hotel most nights

very good value

this hotel is very good value. The rooms look like they have been renovated recently and are pretty spacious. The staff is very helpful. Parking is a little pricey for the lack of parking they have and is a bit silly. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and it is a very clean, good hotel.

conference attendance on a budget

We booked a 7-night stay for a conference at the Hawaii Convention Center. The hotel was in easy walking distance of the beautiful Waikiki beach and we could even see a tiny glimpse of the ocean from our lanai (we stayed on the 8th floor). It was also a pleasant but slightly longer walk (about 20-25 minutes) to the Hawaii Convention Center. Also very close by (a few blocks at most) were the bus stop (useful for taking the #2 to the Convention Center if you didn't want to walk, and the #42 to Pearl Harbor), grocery store, pharmacy, camera shop (had a flash drive I urgently needed for the conference), and many other stores and restaurants, including the International Market (walk through on your way to and from the beach if you need souvenirs). The area is very touristy, but once you get over that, you will find it has everything you need. The hotel room suite itself consisted of one bedroom (containing a side table, desk, and mirrored closet) connecting to the bathroom, and one large open area containing the kitchen (microwave, stove top, sink, almost full-size fridge/freezer, coffee maker, and even a toaster), sofa bed plus dresser, table and chairs, another entrance to the bathroom, and another bed which could be divided from the rest of the room via a curtain. The style was basic as far as the decor was concerned, but welcome additions included a large lanai (with a table, two chairs, and a useful drying rack for wet beach clothes), and a bathroom counter with plenty of space for everyone's stuff. Three of us shared the suite (one in the bedroom, one in the bed behind the curtain divider, and one on the sofa bed), and the suite was so large that we did not find ourselves in each other's way at all (even after 7 days together). The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, and a concierge is available during certain hours for help planning tours, etc. Other guests at the hotel seemed to be enjoying their vacation and ranged from families with young kids to older couples, with a few party-minded young folks thrown in for good measure. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for budget-minded travelers looking for a place to stay near the beach (but not beach front) or people attending events at the Hawaiian Convention Center who don't mind a nice walk (or short bus ride).

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Apparently, the cost of a ticket for jaywalking is about $90 and the police do give these out regularly. The area is very pedestrian-friendly, and we walked around a lot. Although it was hard to put my urban jaywalking habit aside, I complied with the ample pedestrian crossings and "walk" signs and did not have any problems. Also, tempting as it is to take the public bus to Pearl Harbor, it is a long ride with many stops along the way. Take the #42 if you can (the #20 goes through the airport and is slower). One more: the public buses don't allow luggage that can't fit under the seat. Call for an airport shuttle instead (if traveling with a group, the cost may be even less than is posted on some of the shuttle websites - call and ask them).

Great rooms at a great price

Very nicely renovated rooms and it was large and we could see the ocean from our balcony. The staff was very nice and helpful.Very close to many ammenities. The only down fall that I found was that in the early hours the vehicle noise on the road esp.the (harleys) could be heard like our windows were open which they weren't .No pool but not hard to find someplace to swim in Hawaii.
