Clean and comfortable

I have stayed at room with a small kitchenette. You can cook at this tiny kitchenette. I don't cook, but I can cut the fruits. Papaya...etc. The room is fresh and clean. The balcony is also clean and "spacious". The internet connection is excellent.

If you love poke tuna like I do, there is a great hut called "Sam's shrimp" 2 blocks away that was the best poke and cheapest poke I had on the island!

Location, Value, and View

For me location, comfort, value, cleanliness are key to a good hotel. I do not need the services of a 5 star resort, I need a good "home base" while I am out busy beach hopping or seeing the sights. This hotel fit the bill for that. It does not have a fancy spa on site or room service, or any of the other fancy things the 5 star places have. If you don't need that, this place is fine. Most important was the value paid for the room...if was a fair price and I had no complaints other than the shower head was way too low for me.

Works for everyone!

I think this hotel is a good stay for anyone! Out to one side you have a view of a canal. If its your first time in Honolulu this hotel is in a good location to be able to guide where you need to go. The staff is very helpful and nice! The rooms have kitchenettes so if you are on a family vacation you don't have to spend all your money on eating out. It also has a convenience store inside the hotel which is a blessing to those who don't want to leave. The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't WiFi in the rooms but it allowed me to get out the room and get some air. Overall this was a great hotel and i would defiantly stay there again!!!

Not my typical kind of hotel, but served its purpose

My husband and I decided to be spontaneous and booked this room for 1 night. We wanted to hang out in Waikiki/Honolulu, have a few drinks and be within walking distance of a few night spots. Check-in was slooooow because there was only one person at the desk, the hallways/common areas seemed outdated and in dire need of renovations, but the room itself was upgraded and appealing. The countertops were granite, the showerhead was a modern rain showerhead, there was a new flat stove top, a remote controlled A/C unit, modern bedding and decor, and a medium size refrigerator/freezer. The balcony was huge and had a patio table with a few chairs. The only thing I would've preferred was a king size bed instead of two queens, but my request was not accommodated. If you plan to use the hotel parking garage, be sure to drive a compact or midsize car and not a large SUV. Parking is VERY tight and the ceiling is VERY low. Parking is $25 for 24hrs and valet service is not available. The hotel is situated alongside the canal, so the view is decent. Wasn't the Diamondhead view that I was promised at the front desk. Overall the hotel served our purposes...decent, good location, and not pricey.

There is a McDonalds and a philly cheesesteak restaurant right around the corner, less than 1/2 mile. We walked to both and were satisfied.

Good value

Parking is $25 a day. Very difficult to swallow if you're staying long term. We searched for free parking on the Ala Wai canal every night and walked long distances back to the hotel in order to avoid the parking fees. Were fortunate to receive one of the newly renovated rooms. Used the mini mart on the 6th floor twice. Elevators were a problem. Either too full, too slow, or some were out of service. Had to use the stairs once from the 20th floor down because of overcrowded elevators and too long of a wait time. Loved the full-sized refrigerator /freezer, sink, stocked cabinets, microwave and coffeemaker amenities. Saved a lot of money buying groceries instead of eating out. All in all, worth the money and we would stay here again.

Weekend break

We just had a weekend get away, the room was okay. Was a little disappointed w/ the a/c issue, we had 1 a/c only in the bed room, which made the living rm/ kitchen area hot. An our check in was scheduled for 3pm but the room was not ready till 4pm. Other then that, the experiance was good.

Excellent spot

The hotel exceeded my expectations. They were undergoing renovation. The staff was very friendly and gave me an upgrade to a renovated room after recognizing that I was returning to Waikiki for the second time. Location is great. Close to McDonalds and other places to have breakfast, 5 minutes walk to Marketplace and the beach. Bus stop is one block away and tour pickup was within minutes. Behind the hotel, there is a canal and morning walk along with the view of the mountain and water is splendid. They have a small kitchen and free Internet at the lobby. Best value for the money.

Great second honeymoon!!

I had a very good experience at the hotel . My hotel stay was very comfortable. The staff was very courteous and one felt welcome at this hotel. Rooms were clean. We had opted for a room with kitchen and we found this option pretty helpful. The hotel was located right in the down town area. This was a big plus. Some observation: At $25 a day the parking can be pretty pricey!!! Overall, it was a great experience. will stay here again when I visit Hawaii next !!!
